Best Day Ever

Best Day Ever

Best Day Ever by Kaira Rouda

5 BIG I LOVE ME some CRAZY STARS!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I glance at my wife as she climbs into the passenger seat, and I am bursting with confidence. Today will be everything I’ve promised her…and more…

Paul Strom has the perfect life: a glittering career as an advertising executive, a beautiful wife, two healthy boys and a big house in a wealthy suburb. And he’s the perfect husband: breadwinner, protector, provider. That’s why he’s planned a romantic weekend for his wife, Mia, at their lake house, just the two of them. And he’s promised today will be the best day ever.

But as Paul and Mia drive out of the city and toward the countryside, a spike of tension begins to wedge itself between them and doubts start to arise. How much do they trust each other? And how perfect is their marriage, or any marriage, really?

Forcing us to ask ourselves just how well we know those who are closest to us, Best Day Ever crackles with dark energy, spinning ever tighter toward its shocking conclusion. In the bestselling, page-turning vein of The Couple Next Door and The Dinner, Kaira Rouda weaves a gripping, tautly suspenseful tale of deception and betrayal dark enough to destroy a marriage…or a life.

I want to give major props to audiobook narrator Graham Halstead his portrayal of Paul was absolute perfection! Six stellar stars to him for enhancing this very entertaining crazy ride of a book…. I definitely believe this is a case where the audio brought such life to the character of Paul, you just couldn’t help but fall in love with this book!

Paul is a total narcissist…. and it isn’t too far into this book when you discover this fact as well…. paul’s inner dialogue and his justification for his actions, were simply priceless to me….. paul’s character as well as Mia’s were so well developed….. I had felt as though I had spent the day with them after finishing the book, and I was quite exhausted from it!

At first it appears as though Paul and Mia are the ideal couple… just about to have the Best Day Ever…. you find out real quick though that things aren’t quite as they seem…. as the book progresses you get to know the true Paul….. and there are some pretty tense moments when you’re not quite sure what is going to happen…. The audiobook kept me listening well into the night, not wanting to press the pause button!

I do recognize this book is not for everybody…. Paul is terribly unlikable, he really has not a single redeemable quality…. if I were to meet Paul in real life I’d hope I’d be smart enough to stay clear….. but as I said I love me some crazy…… I really enjoy what goes on in the head of a narcissist who is also psychotic…. please don’t judge me!😉

I strongly recommend this book on audio, for those of you that like well developed yet disturb characters and some tense situations…
