A family secret

One shocking argument and ten-year-old Alice Parker’s world was turned upside down. Her peaceful life at Honeysuckle Farm in the quiet rural village of Brook Bridge swapped for the bustling metropolis of New York City. Alice’s life was changed forever…

A second chance

Now, thirteen years later, Alice’s American dream is over. With her life in tatters, there is only one place Alice wants to be… home at Honeysuckle Farm. So, when Alice learns her beloved Grandie is ill, she knows this is her last chance to heal the family rift.

A forever home?

But secrets still swirl in Brook Bridge, and Alice is no closer to discovering the truth. And for some reason her new friendship with local heartthrob Sam Reid seems to be making the locals tense.

Sick of the lies Alice knows it’s time to lay the past to rest once and for all. But could the truth ruin her hopes of ever calling Honeysuckle Farm home again?

4.5 Heartwarming Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5

This was my first book from Christie Barlow, but it absolutely will not be my last…. this was a lovely book about friendship, family, and secrets…. set at the beautiful and idyllic Honeysuckle Farm…. you could just visualize this farm and this charming village…. with all the storefronts and beautiful homes with adorable names….. there was something very comforting about this book, just left me feeling good inside…

Alice returns to Honeysuckle Farm after being away for over 13 years…. reunited with her beloved Grandie… I really liked both of these characters and found the relationship between them so sweet…. I could not imagine what could’ve possibly caused mom to leave…and move her daughter all the way across the ocean to New York….. when that secret was finally revealed I have to admit it was quite shocking, but it made complete sense….

There is also a sweet love story between Alice and Sam…. Sam was such a good guy and I really felt bad that not everybody could see that in him…. also loved the friendship between Grace and Alice, always enjoy positive female friendships in books… loved all the dancing and the grand finale and Dorothy and Bert, I could just go on and on and on…. this book in a word was simply delightful!

Strongly recommend to anybody who is in the mood for a comforting read with lovely characters and a beautiful setting…

About the author:

Holly Martin - author photoHolly lives in a little white cottage by the sea. She studied media at university which led to a very glitzy career as a hotel receptionist followed by a even more glamorous two years working in a bank. The moment that one of her colleagues received the much coveted carriage clock for fifteen years’ service was the moment when she knew she had to escape. She quit her job and returned to university to train to be a teacher. Three years later, she emerged wide eyed and terrified that she now had responsibility for the development of thirty young minds. She taught for four years and then escaped the classroom to teach history workshops, dressing up as a Viking one day and an Egyptian High Priestess the next. But the long journeys around the UK and many hours sat on the M25 gave her a lot of time to plan out her stories and she now writes full time, doing what she loves.

Holly has been writing for 8 years. She was shortlisted for the New Talent Award at the Festival of Romance. Her short story won the Sunlounger competition and was published in the Sunlounger anthology. She won the Carina Valentine’s competition at the Festival of Romance 2013 with her novel The Guestbook. 4.5 magical Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5

I want to go to Blossom Cottage on Sandcastle Bay… I want to pick berries, build a boat, and eat cake…. everything about this book was so magical and sweet….

Tori was such a real and likable character…. I completely related to her struggle…. and so wanted her to find her happily ever after with Aiden…. but how does a relationship build off a conversation that you only want to keep things casual… nobody wants to get hurt… again…. in the land of the heart berry and with the approaching Love festival…perhaps love will find the way… and not only for these two…. Aidan has two brothers…Tori has two friends… there are 11 puppies… and an adorable dancing heart berry named Max…. oh and I cannot forget Aunt Agatha her predictions and the tattoo….

So many magical moments in this lovely town by the sea…. there also were some pretty laugh out loud moments as well…. I really can’t say anything bad about this book…. it was just a nice breath of fresh air…. that made me want to pack my bags and head to Sandcastle Bay….

Absolutely recommend to anyone in the mood for a fun romantic comedy with an amazing setting…
