The heat is on! It is supposed to be 95°F today!🔥

Another fabulous blog blitz for this hot Sunday! This is the third book in this wonderful series, that you will absolutely love if you are a fan of a good police procedural🚨

Many thanks to Rachel for the invitation and to Graham Smith for his fabulous words!

When The Waters Recede

When a car is pulled from raging floodwaters with a dead man in the front and the decapitated body of an evil woman in the boot, Cumbria’s Major Crimes Team are handed the investigation.

The woman is soon recognised, but the man cannot be identified and this leads the team and their former leader, Harry Evans, into areas none of them want to visit.

Before they know it, they’re dealing with protection scams and looking for answers to questions they didn’t know needed to be asked.

4 Gritty Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Harry Evans… you so remind me of my beloved Harry Bosch…. this is the third book in this Grady series… I am sure it can be read as a standalone, however you might miss out on some character development… I was glad I had read “No Comment” it gave me some much-needed insight into who Harry is and what makes him tick…

The book starts out with two bodies found in a car that was submerged in the river… The man who was driving is dead and even more disturbing there is a decapitated body in the boot a.k.a. the trunk… it appears as though a different character is featured in each book and in this book it is Lauren’s turn…. after finding these bodies Lauren turns to her ex boss Harry, Who is now acting as a consultant to the police force…. I enjoyed the relationship between Harry and Lauren, they really balanced each other out well….

As in the first book I read from the series, I really enjoyed how these characters went about solving the crime… there is some Grady oldschool crime solving going on with a splash of the new… and perhaps some rule breaking, or at least some questionable tactics…. once again I found this very reminiscent of ”Law and Order: Major Case Squad”… a US television show that is no longer on, however I’m sure you can find it on a cable station any time of the day… there is more than one case going on throughout this book, and I kept trying to figure out if there was a connection or not… I always love trying to figure these crimes out right along with the characters, but it is a good thing that they’re the detectives and not me!

Absolutely recommend to fans of police procedurals filled with some pretty darn fabulous characters!

Summer-at-the-Little-Cottage-on-the-Hill-Kindle
Take an endless stroll through wild meadows and breathe in the sweet aroma of flowers in full bloom. The first ever guest at the little cottage on the hill is looking for an escape, but her past is not far behind her…

Thirty-two-year-old ‘ice queen’ Isobel slams the cottage door and pulls the curtains shut. She has just six weeks to practise for a secret project that could save her career and no one must know she is here.

When Tom, the local thatcher with eyes as blue and deep as the ocean, hears the sound of her violin on the breeze he feels a tug at his heart-strings that reminds him of happier times. Who is this mysterious new lodger, and why does she look so familiar?

Desperate to find out more, Tom is devastated when Isobel refuses to enjoy everything the farm has to offer. He won’t give in, but just when it looks like Isobel is coming out of her shell, someone recognises her and the troubles from her past threaten to take away everything she has been working towards.

Will the lessons Isobel learned at the little cottage help her to stand up and face the music? Will Tom ever find a way to unlock the emotion she needs to move on?

If you loved the heart-warming romance in novels by Jenny Colgan, Lucy Diamond and Debbie Johnson, you’ll adore this gorgeous, feel-good story about letting love in.

4.25 Lovely Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟.25

It was so lovely to return to the little cottage on the hill, in this second book in this delightful series…. I enjoyed this book even more than the first… loved revisiting all these characters and had many awwwww moments…

Isabel is the first guest at Joy’s Acre… she is there to get away and work on a top-secret project, she has no desire to socialize and be sucked in by the beauty of the place… Isabel was not terribly likeable at the beginning of this book… but you just knew this cast of quirky characters, these lovely gardens and the wonderful food would thaw her frozen heart… Tom was even more charming in this book than the previous… even though he may drink a little too much and is a bit of a player, deep down he is such a good guy… and that really came out in this book…. I really wanted this relationship to work out with Isabel and him… his feelings for her came through so well on these pages… on a personal note I absolutely love the part in this book about Peter and the Wolf… not a big classical music person, but I had that record (yes a record… a vinyl record, I am so dating myself here) and when they brought this up it brought back all the sounds of all the characters on that amazing record….

Along with the slow burning romance between Isabel and Tom, we are treated to all the wonderful characters from the first book…. Claire‘s gardens sounded so beautiful and Trixie’s food sounded so delicious…. now I want to go visit even more than I did after reading the first book… Love all these characters and how there they are for one another, it was quite endearing… quite simply this is the perfect summer time read…

Absolutely recommend to fans of a book filled with love, wonderful characters, and a beautiful setting🌸

*** thank you so much too Bookouture and Net Galley for a copy of this lovely book ***

Summer at the Little Cottage on the Hill by Emma Davies
Emma DaviesAbout the author:

After a varied career, Emma Davies once worked for a design studio where she was asked to provide a fun and humorous (and not necessarily true) anecdote for their website. She wrote the following: ‘I am a bestselling novelist currently masquerading as a thirty something mother of three.’ Well the job in the design studio didn’t work out but she’s now a forty something mother of three and is happy to report the rest of her dream came true.

After many years as a finance manager she now writes full time, and is far happier playing with words than numbers. She lives with her husband, three children, and two guinea pigs in rural Shropshire where she writes in all the gaps in between real life. It’s a county she adores, her love of its beautiful people and landscapes providing endless inspiration for her books, and in fact the only thing that would make Shropshire more idyllic is if it were by the sea.

Pop over to her website www.emmadaviesauthor.com where, amongst other things, you can read about her passion for Pringles and singing loudly in the car. You can also wave to her on twitter @EmDaviesAuthor or find her on Facebook
