The Idea of you by Robinne Lee

⭐⭐⭐⭐·5 August Moon Stars

Synopsis

Solène Marchand, the thirty-nine-year-old owner of an art gallery in Los Angeles, is reluctant to take her daughter, Isabelle, to meet her favorite boy band.

But since her divorce, she’s more eager than ever to be close to Isabelle. The last thing Solène expects is to make a connection with one of the members of the world-famous August Moon.

But Hayes Campbell is clever, winning, confident, and posh, and the attraction is immediate. That he is all of twenty years old further complicates things.

What begins as a series of clandestine trysts quickly evolves into a passionate and genuine relationship.

It is a journey that spans continents as Solène and Hayes navigate each other’s worlds: from stadium tours to international art fairs to secluded hideaways in Paris and Miami.

For Solène, it is a reclaiming of self, as well as a rediscovery of happiness and love. When Solène and Hayes’ romance becomes a viral sensation, and both she and her daughter become the target of rabid fans and an insatiable media, Solène must face how her romantic life has impacted the lives of those she cares about most.

Review

Well this book has lots of feels, and plenty more to go round 😭

Imagine if you will you are 13 years old, and in love with a boy band – as all, or most 13 year olds are.

This boy band is huge HUGE (think One Direction big!) touring the world, filling stadiums, the whole thing.

Now, imagine if your Dad won tickets to go and meet the band backstage after watching them live in concert 😱

Can you imaging how exciting that would be??

Then imagine your Dad lets you down and can’t take you, so you ask the only other person you want with you, your Mum.

She agrees to take you, and can see how excited you are, so she goes to the concert with you and your three best friends, and also goes with you backstage to meet the band.

You have the obligatory photos and chat with the band for a while, and you and your friends are on cloud 9 for months to come!

Now imagine that you find out months and months later that your mum has been sneaking around, and secretly shagging the lead singer of the band, who is only 8 years older than you, your mum is 39 years old. 😱

This book takes the teenage heart-throb Love Story and flips it on its ass!

No, it’s not the young girl falling in love with the lead singer, but an older divorcee who suddenly finds herself desirable again.

And so what if he’s younger than her! if it was flipped on its head and she was dating an older man people wouldn’t bat an eyelid (You go girl)

Unfortunately though, the fans do not see it that way and we get a small glimpse into the life of a pop star.

🎧🎧 This book was actually narrated by the author herself, at the beginning I was a little bit dubious it didn’t sound right.

However once I started getting into the story I think her voice fitted perfectly, her English accent was excellent as well as her French, I’m not sure whether she is part French or lived there, but her accent was Steller.

After checking her authors page on Goodreads, I realised that she’s actually an actress and starred in a couple of big movies, do you remember Seven Pounds with Will Smith?? yep that’s her!!

For a debut novel, I think we may be seeing a lot more of Robinne Lee, and I for one cannot wait!

Can’t wait to see what you guys think of this one.

Enjoy

If You Love Me, I’m Yours by Lizzie Chantree @Lizzie_Chantree @rararesources #BookReview #Giveaway

Happy Monday all!

Delighted to be part of the blog tour for this lovely book filled with wonderful characters! Many thanks to Rachel for my invitation and two Lizzie Chantree for her story!💜

If You Love Me I'm YoursIf you love me, I’m yours.

‘If you love me, I’m yours…’\

Maud didn’t mind being boring, not really. She had a sensible job, clothes, and love life… if you counted an overbearing ex who had thanked her, rolled over and was snoring before she even realised he’d begun! She could tolerate not fulfilling her dreams, if her parents would pay her one compliment about the only thing she was passionate about in life: her art.

Dot should have fit in with her flamboyant and slightly eccentric family of talented artists, but somehow, she was an anomaly who couldn’t paint. She tried hard to be part of their world by becoming an art agent extraordinaire, but she dreamed of finding her own voice.

Dot’s brother Nate, a smoulderingly sexy and famous artist, was adored by everyone. His creative talent left them in awe of his ability to capture such passion on canvas. Women worshiped him, and even Dot’s friend Maud flushed and bumped into things when he walked into a room, but a tragic event in his past had left him emotionally and physically scarred, and reluctant to face the world again.

Someone was leaving exquisite little paintings on park benches, with a tag saying, ‘If you love me, I’m yours’. The art was so fresh and cutting-edge, that it generated a media frenzy and a scramble to discover where the mystery artist could be hiding. The revelation of who the prodigious artist was interlinked Maud, Dot and Nate’s lives forever, but their worlds came crashing down.

Were bonds of friendship, love and loyalty strong enough to withstand fame, success and scandal?

My Thoughts

4 Lovely Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟

This was a delightful lighthearted story filled with wonderful characters… another charming quirky book set in the UK… I really do adore these books!

This is a book about friendship, love, and discovering who you really are…. Maud is a talented artist, but her parents do not approve… I really liked her and I loved how she went about getting her art discovered…Dot feels as though she is the only non-creative person in her family of artists… The girls form a lovely friendship along with a third friend… Maud and Dot really balanced out one another well… and in doing so taught each other something about themselves…

There is also some romance in this book although it plays a backseat to self discovery…. Dot has a dark brooding brother Nate… The romance between Maud end Nate was slow Burning… extremely slow burning… but I felt as though that worked perfectly for this book…

The perfect book to read at the beach or pool side, absolutely recommend!

*** many thanks to the author and Rachel atRachel’s Randomde Resources for my copy of this book ***

She is currently working on Book III For My Sins.

An ex-model, British born of Irish roots, she married a rock musician and has worked in the exciting worlds of rock music, film, sports celebrity management and as a Crime Investigator for the Police – Wanted & Absconder Unit, Intelligence Analyst, Major Crime Team, Investigations Hub.

Having worked in the music to film industry, she writes with film in mind. The Penance List has been adapted to film screenplay.

Q & A

Working in Crime, my writing routine and favourite book.

Three questions that people regularly ask are; what’s it like working in crime, what’s my writing routine and what’s my favourite book? Well, here you go.

Crime Work

When not writing thrillers I’m a Police Crime Investigator.  Over the years I’ve worked within the Wanted & Absconder Unit, Major Crime Team, Intel Analyst, and Investigations Hub.

The work is a mix of thought provoking, exhausting, soul lifting and heart breaking emotions. Some images never leave you. The wave of crime that Officers protect us all from 24/7 is frightening, but when a victim is given justice it’s heart-warming, worth every second.

Those brave, hardworking men and women (fathers, mothers, sons, daughters) who walk daily into unknown dangerous situations deserve a medal.

I sometimes wish the public knew more of the struggle behind the scenes that they face. But, I’ve signed the Official Secrets Act so am (quite rightly) unable to talk about cases I’ve worked on, so I’ll shut up now.

Strangely I’ve found that the two jobs, writing and investigating, help each other. They have a synchronicity, a similar thought process but with a reverse order of events.

  • Writing crime – creates the characters, builds the storyline, ends with a crime scene and police sirens.
  • Investigating crime – starts with sirens, assesses a crime scene, unravels the storyline and detects the characters.

My crime work teaches me to be open to hearing both sides of a situation, not everyone arrested is guilty, it’s my job to find and prove the truth. Having an open exploring mind is a good trait when writing.

Writing Routine.

Writing is probably not good for my health. I eat rubbish quick-fix food, get back-ache from sitting too much and become mushroom-like reclusive.

I tend to back out of the world and everything that’s going on around me for days before, emptying my over-zealous mind, to fill it again with another world – that of my current storyline.

On a writing day, I take the dogs for a beach walk, strolling via the back roads to avoid conversations that take me out of the zone. Am sponge-like and easily drawn into chatting with folk; local villagers and dog walkers are a lovely friendly bunch and I can’t resist saying ‘hello’.

On the beach I start the process of thinking about scenes for the day’s writing. My work tends to have complicated spaghetti storylines which I need to be on top of – tough on an old dumb-blonde bird like me.

I get home, try to do a few minutes on a rowing machine, then set the scene of my writing room; smelly candles/incense, calming music, good lighting, cosy warmth, nibbley easy-to-pick-at computer food and plenty of drinks.

The dogs, exhausted from their walk, sleep at my feet. It’s nice to have another heart beat in the room, writing can be lonely.

I sit at the computer for between 5 to 8 hours, depending how well it’s going, and then log off with a celebratory glass of vino or a cheeky gin and tonic.

Favourite Book.

That’s easy. Lee Child’s Jack Reacher Series. I adore Reacher, such a wonderful character.

If I was a bloke I’d love to live his simple lifestyle. No baggage, traveling with just a toothbrush and credit card, great intelligence, people skills and the strength of an ox – awesome!

I can’t quite forgive Child for selling out to Tom Cruise – Mr Cruise is lovely am sure, but he’s no Jack Reacher.

I also love the works of Agatha Christie, Martina Cole, Michael Connelly, James Patterson, Patricia Cornwell, Colin Dexter, Harlan Coben, John Grisham,  Nora Roberts, Karin Slaughter, David Baldacci.

Thank you for joining us.
