Death in Dulwich

Thirty-something single mum Beth Haldane is forced to become Dulwich’s answer to Miss Marple when she stumbles over a murder victim on her first day at work.

To clear her name, Beth is plunged into a cozy mystery that’s a contemporary twist on Golden Age crime classics. But can she pull it off? She already has a bouncy young son, haughty cat, a fringe with a mind of its own and lots of bills to pay, as she struggles to keep up with the yummy mummies of SE21.

Join Beth in #1 of the London Murder Mystery series, as she discovers the nastiest secrets can lurk in the nicest places.

My Thoughts

4 Cozy Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟

This was a fun very readable cozy mystery… set in the uppercrust community of Dulwich… where your child’s success is based on how many instruments they are learning to play and how many hours of tutoring/coaching they have per week…. glad to see Americans aren’t the only ones to go a little overboard on this, and I am as guilty as anybody else! The author did a wonderful job of drawing a picture of this community I could just picture it… I could just feel the judgment, LOL

Beth starts a new job at a posh school as a assistant archaeologist… on her first day on the job she finds a dead body… not a great first day! As in all good cozy mysteries Beth takes it upon herself to play amateur sleuth especially after her house has been broken into…. really likes Beth she was a wonderful single mother just trying to give her son the best life possible… loved her best friend Katie and Katie’s passion for yoga…

The academic setting was filled with eccentric characters, some of who you would not want to see at your child’s school! Plenty of suspects that allowed me to play amateur detective right along with Katie… and it is a good thing she was there, because I did not figure this one out! Looking forward to reading the next book in the series…

Absolutely recommend to all fans of the cozy mystery! This one checks off all the boxes for things you love and expect from a wonderful cozy mystery!

*** many thanks to the author and Rachel at Rachel’s Rado Resources for my copy of this book ***

PS: the idea of a company that does school projects for you is brilliant! I hate school projects! 😝

The Smallest Part by Amy Harmon – @aharmon_author #AlmarieGuerra #AudioBookReview

Good morning everyone, it’s the weekend YAY!!

I’m super happy to review this absolutely gorgeous book by Amy Harmon, it is a little bit of everything 😍

The Smallest Part by Amy Harmon

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Beautiful Friendship Stars

Synopsis

“In the end, only three things matter. How much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you.”
– Unknown

It was a big lie. The biggest lie she’d ever told. It reverberated through her head as she said it, ringing eerily, and the girl behind her eyes—the girl who knew the truth—screamed, and her scream echoed along with the lie.

“Are you in love with Noah, Mercedes?” Cora asked. “I mean . . . I know you love him. You’ve been friends forever. We all have. But are you in love with him?”

If it had been anyone else—anyone—Mercedes would have stuck out her chest, folded her skinny arms, and let her feelings be known. She would have claimed him. But it was Cora. Brave, beautiful, broken Cora, and Cora loved Noah too.

So Mercedes lied.

And with that lie, she lost him. With that lie, she sealed her fate.

She was the best friend, the bridesmaid, the godmother, the glue. She was there for the good times and the bad, the ups and the downs, the biggest moments and the smallest parts. And she was there when it all came crashing down.

This is the tale of the girl who didn’t get the guy.

Mercedes is the best friend anyone can ever have, she’s staunchly protective, brave, kind, beautiful and has a wonderful personality, she’s also in love with her best friend Noah.

Noah wants be a doctor when he grows up and loves spending time with his two best friends Mercedes and Cora.

With a small cameo from one of Amy’s previous books which you do not have to have read, this book keeps you enthralled and wanting to be part of The Three Musketeers.

🎧🎧 Narrated by Almarie Guerra, a new narrator for me did an outstanding job all of the characters had their own voices and I believed every word she said.
I will certainly be looking out for other titles that she has narrated.

Pick up this beautiful story as soon as you can you won’t be disappointed!
