The Memory by Lucy Dawson @lucydawsonbooks @bookouture #bookreview

TGIF! Hope you are having a wonderful Friday!

Thrilled to share with you today my review for this exceptional psychological thriller! Huge thanks to Kim for my invitation to the tour and to Lucy Dawson for her terrific tale❄️🖤

My Thoughts

oh boy! This book! It was so dark, disturbing, and unsettling! And SO GOOD!

This book was one wild and crazy ride that took me places I was not expecting! A creepy story that completely draws you in, and you are convinced you know what direction you are headed, but boy was I wrong! Secrets and lies and deceit all leaving me completely bewildered! This is the third book I’ve read this year from Lucy Dawson all have been spectacular and unique… not only unique from one another, but different from all other psychological thrillers….

This book starts with a bang! a tragic event that will change the lives of Yves, Isabel,Adam and Tim forever… the tragedy appears to have impacted Isabell the most, leaving her permanently trapped in a childlike state… this also greatly impacts the lives of eve, Isabel’s mother and Adam, the man who is in love with her… when Isabel’s life is completely upheaved, a move and the return of a blast from the past… secrets start to spill out!

Told from the alternating points of view of eve and Clare… I thought this was brilliant Eve obviously has been in the midst of all the drama from day one… but Claire is a unwitting newcomer…. can only imagine how disconcerting it would be to meet Isabell, this stunning woman with the voice of a child and perhaps the mind…. then to find out that this woman has ties to your significant other… so much manipulation and deceit running throughout the pages of this book! So hard to write this review I want to convey how much I loved this book and I don’t want to give a single thing away…. just know you will need to buckle your seatbelt for this rollercoaster… the ride to the top of the hill may take some time… but once you get there watch out! The other side is one crazy twisted ride that will leave you breathless!

Absolutely recommend to anyone who enjoys a well done perfectly paced thrill of a story!

About the Book

I look down at her, lying fast asleep – always my little girl, and so beautiful. She gives a low moan as her head turns restlessly on the pillow. It reminds me of the soft growl of a cornered animal. Where is my poor child? What is she dreaming?

People always notice my daughter, Isobel. How could they not? Incredibly beautiful… until she speaks.

An unsettling, little-girl voice, exactly like a child’s, but from the mouth of a full-grown woman.

Izzie might look grown-up, but inside she’s trapped. Caught in the day it happened – the day that broke her from within.

I know why my daughter is the way she is. There’s nothing I could have done to save her… is there?

An unputdownable psychological thriller about families and secrets, perfect for fans of Gone Girl, Shalini Boland and Lisa Jewell.

Meet the Author

About me by Lucy Dawson:

I’ve been writing psychological suspense novels since 2008, when my first bestseller – His Other Lover – was published. I write full time (mostly on the playroom sofa) from my home in Devon, where I live with my husband and children. Before that, I used to edit a magazine for six to twelve year old girls for a living, making absolutely no use whatsoever of my psychology degree from Warwick University, but it was a lot of fun.

I’m addicted to writing about the extraordinary things that can happen to ordinary people – stories that jump in at the deep end, with a gasp. When readers take the time out to let me know they’ve stayed up all night because they couldn’t put the book down, it makes my day.

I really enjoy catching up with readers and always reply to emails. You can reach me at lucy@lucydawsonbooks.com. I’m also on Twitter @lucydawsonbooks and have a Facebook page at lucydawsonbooks. Alternatively you can download a free short story of mine at www.lucydawsonbooks.comor if you want to look at a lot of pictures of the beach and books that I’m reading, find me on Instagram at lucydawsonbooks.

Deck The Halles by Stephanie Dagg @llamamum @rararesources #bookreview

TGIF book lovers!

Super excited that I am almost done with my Christmas shopping, And that I get to share with you today my review for this festive story full of llamas and fun! Many thanks to Rachel for my invitation to the tour and to Stephanie Dagg for her charming words🎄🦙

Deck The Halles

deckthehalles

It’s next Christmas at the little French llama farm.

Last Christmas infamous Australian author Nick bought the farm, that was meant to be furnished and without llamas. The reverse proved to be the case. Noelle had been sent to pet sit the llamas until his arrival. After a decidedly frosty start, Nick and Noelle’s relationship warmed up rapidly and they’re now happily living together, with an ever growing assortment of animals.

They’re looking forward to a quiet, romantic Christmas together but at the last moment Noelle is called on to find a venue for the annual national llama show. The local agricultural halles are free so she books them, thinking that’s all she’ll have to do to help. She couldn’t be more wrong! On top of that, various relatives start turning up on her doorstep unexpectedly, as the result of assorted crises. The farmhouse is about to burst at the seams. Add in a few other events, such as playing the part of a pixie at a Christmas fête, organising Nick’s book launch and training a non-cooperative  llama for the agility class in the show, and Noelle is pushed ever closer to the end of her tether. Can she hold it together and stay as calm as a llama? Or will she be the next member of her family to make a bolt for pastures new?

This festive, feel-good and fun novel is the sequel to ‘Fa-La-Llama-La: Christmas at the Little French Llama Farm’ but can be read as a standalone.

My Thoughts

nothing puts you in the holiday mood quite like a fa la la la llama 🦙

What a fun feel good festive story full of holiday cheer and llamas! I had no idea llamas were such fascinating and lively animals…. and funny! I was laughing so hard at these crazy llamas trying to master these agility obstacles…. yes there are Lama shows with agility and fancy dress, just like a dog show, well at least they do in France…. so you might be thinking what do llamas have to do with Christmas? Well plenty especially with an owner named Noelle…

Noelle was a delightful character about to spend her very first Christmas with her amour Nick…. they are excited for quiet romantic nights by the fire, but faith has a different plan… before they know it they’re in charge of a llama show, with a house full of company with assorted issues and quirks… Noelle and Nick handled this like champs, they rose to the challenge and ended up having a very Merry Christmas indeed!

This was a unique and enchanting story that I would strongly encourage you to add to your holiday reading list!🎄🦙

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAuthor Bio –

I’m an English expat living in France, having moved here with my family in 2006 after fourteen years as an expat in Ireland. I now consider myself a European rather than ‘belonging’ to any particular country. The last ten years have been interesting, to put it mildly. Taking on seventy-five acres with three lakes, two hovels and one cathedral-sized barn, not to mention an ever increasing menagerie, makes for exciting times. The current array of animals includes alpacas, llamas, huarizos (alpaca-llama crossbreds, unintended in our case and all of them thanks to one very determined alpaca male), sheep, goats, pigs, ducks, geese, chickens and turkeys, not forgetting our pets of dogs, cats, zebra finches, budgies , canaries, lovebirds and Chinese quail. Before we came to France all we had was a dog and two chickens, so it’s been a steep learning curve. I recount these experiences in my book Heads Above Water: Staying Afloat in France and the sequel to that, Total Immersion: Ten Years in France. I also blog regularly at http://www.bloginfrance.com.

I’m married to Chris and we have three bilingual TCKs (third culture kids) who are resilient and resourceful and generally wonderful.

I’m a traditionally-published author of many children’s books, and am now self-publishing too. I have worked part-time as a freelance editor for thirty years after starting out as a desk editor for Hodder & Stoughton. Find me at http://www.editing.zone. The rest of the time I’m running carp fishing lakes with Chris and inevitably cleaning up some or other animal’s poop.
