Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid @tjenkinsreid @PRHAudio #AudiobookReview #HistoricalFiction

Coming to you live from a wet and windy UK,

Unfortunately I am nowhere close to being as cool as Daisy Jones is,  she was every mans fantasy, and every little girl wanted to be her when she grew up!

If I can make you take the plunge and listen to an audiobook just once, THIS would be the one I would choose, it was magical!

A full cast audio with some of my favourite narrators in it, and just look at that stunning cover!

Why did I pick it up? – After listening to The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and falling in love with it, THIS book was one of my most anticipated reads, and I wasn’t disappointed in the slightest!

My Thoughts

Daisy is kind of a Nobody, with being a Somebody dreams, so she makes those dreams a reality, she is exactly the girl who she wants to be and will not change for anyone! #FistBump!

I had absolutely no interest in being somebody else’s muse.
I am not a muse.
I am the somebody.
End of fucking story.

Told in the style of a Interview/Documentary, this is the story of how Daisy Jones, met The Six, how the band became a household name in the 70’s, how they sold out stadiums and the like.

It also tells the story of what happens after the audience goes home, after the lights have gone out, and after the fans have had their share of you.

It is about Sex, Drugs, and Rock N Roll, and it is also about how and what the band thought about each other, and their take on their own story.

Because it is being told by each member of the band, you get 7 or more different takes of the same story, but who’s account is really true?

I ADORED this story, it is so cleverly written and so believable, TJR has such a clever way of spinning her stories, once again I found myself Googling “Are Daisy Jones and the Six a real band?” *Spoiler – They’re not”

*Although they may be in the near future as this book has been grabbed by Reece Witherspoon for her Sunshine Books Read, and it is currently going into production for a TV series, I can’t wait to see the casting!

If you are going to grab ANY book this year, make sure it’s this one, you wont regret it I promise.

Think of this as a kind of Fleetwood Mac story, except you get to know the full story, warts and all.

🎧🎧 – I’m not sure if I can talk about the narration without getting all gushy, from what I have read, TJR cast the audio narrators herself, if this is the case, I bow down to her awesomeness, because it is PERFECTION!!!

About the Book

Everyone knows Daisy Jones & The Six, but nobody knows the reason behind their split at the absolute height of their popularity . . . until now.

Daisy is a girl coming of age in L.A. in the late sixties, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock and roll she loves most. By the time she’s twenty, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things.

Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne. On the eve of their first tour, his girlfriend Camila finds out she’s pregnant, and with the pressure of impending fatherhood and fame, Billy goes a little wild on the road.

Daisy and Billy cross paths when a producer realizes that the key to supercharged success is to put the two together. What happens next will become the stuff of legend.

The making of that legend is chronicled in this riveting and unforgettable novel, written as an oral history of one of the biggest bands of the seventies. Taylor Jenkins Reid is a talented writer who takes her work to a new level with Daisy Jones & The Six, brilliantly capturing a place and time in an utterly distinctive voice.

Escape to the Little French café by Karen Clarke @karenclarke123 @bookouture #bookreview #escapetothelittlefrenchcafé

Happy Monday bibliophiles!

Excited to share with you today my review for this charming story that made me want to escape to France! A huge thank you to Noelle for my invitation to the tour and to Karen Clarke for her delightful words!🥐

My Thoughts

A delightful heartwarming story. A lovely romance sprinkled with humor and friendship!

What a fun escape to the French seaside this book was! This is one of those stories that will make you feel all warm and fuzzy, a book that will make you smile, a tale that will leave you craving croissants! Karen Clarke has crafted another engaging story packed with amazing characters and a beautiful setting!

Natalie is picking up the pieces of her broken heart and decides to head to the French seaside for a change of pace and to be closer to her father. This small French Village is the perfect place to mend a broken heart. Natalie also has the company of her BFF Charlie and the dating antics of her dad to keep her mind off her woes. Soon Natalie runs into her old crush Jay, someone who she long-ago shared a fleeting kiss. Natalie is a struggling journalist and she thinks scoring an interview with Jay who is now a major screen star will help elevate her career. Jay grants her the interview and when they meet up Sparks fly. BUT when parts of the interview are leaked Natalie‘s career and her budding romance are in jeopardy.

This was a sweet slow burning romance that was super adorable. Natalie was a great character I really liked her and I really wanted her to find her happily ever after. Her BFF Charlie was great and I have to say I would have had no problem if they had ended up together! And I am keeping my fingers crossed that the next book is about him. Jay and Natalie had some pretty strong chemistry, I really loved reading there romance. This really was a straightforward old-fashioned romance. Set in the sun on the French seashore. What more could you want then sunshine, love, friendship, and croissants?

*** huge thank you to Bookouture for my copy of this book ***

About the Book

On the beautiful French coast lies the Café Belle Vie, a peaceful haven offering a warm welcome and delicious pains au chocolat – and where Natalie’s quiet life is about to be turned upside down…

When thirty-one-year-old Natalie Bright’s boyfriend dumps her and immediately gets engaged to his ex-girlfriend, she escapes her heartbreak and moves to the charming village of Chamillon on the Île de Ré.

She’s determined to build a new life there: writing about farmer’s markets for a local magazine, exploring the local vineyards on her bike, and taking advantage of the sunshine. And in the Café Belle Vie she finds a bustling community – including new best friend Charlie – and a near-constant supply of cakes.

All in all, things are looking pretty good.

So when a blast from the past – her teenage crush Jay Merino – suddenly turns up in Chamillon, Natalie’s thrown. She’s sworn off men ever since she moved to France, but she and Jay have a connection that stretches back years.

But could taking a chance on an old flame complete her new life – or ruin everything she’s worked so hard for?

A gorgeous rom com full of sunshine, croissants and sparkling romance! Perfect for fans of Debbie Johnson, Zara Stoneley and Debbie Macomber.
