4.5 Mind Blowing Stars🤯🌟 Believe Me by J P Delaney #JPDelaney #BookReview #PubDay

Happy Publication Day to this enthralling psychological thriller!

Thrilled to share with you today my review for this unique and dark thriller that I could not put down!

My Thoughts

4.5 Mind Blowing Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5

WOW! What a crazy ride this book was! This book sucked me in from the very first page… and after it tossed me around and turned me on my head it spit me back out and left me spinning…. Claire I might need to crown you the most unreliable narrator of them all! Bravo! J P Delaney for writing such a unique and twisted thriller!

Claire is a struggling British actress living in New York without a green card… so what’s a girl to do? Claire being resourceful and an actress begins working for a divorce lawyer and becomes a decoy… trapping cheating husbands and making enough money to pay the bills, all seemeds good until… One of the wives she was working for ends up murdered… don’t even want to say anything else about the plot, because this is a journey best gone into blind…

This was an enthralling story that left me not trusting anybody! I thought it was so uniquely told I loved the script aspects… I loved all the psychology and the criminal profiling… The poetry discussed in this book will probably resonate with others more than me… poetry not my thing, to be honest I didn’t even know this was a real poet… color me ignorant! This was a group read and fortunately my fellow sisters were kind enough not to make me feel stupid when I excitedly told them that Baudelaire was a real live poet!🤦‍♀️

You do need to suspend belief for parts of this book and just go with it… but BELIEVE ME it is so worth it! The twists in this book they keep coming… this was a wild ride I was sad to have to get off of!

Strongly recommend to all fans of a well-done unique psychological thriller that will blow your mind🤯

*** many thanks to Valentine Books for my copy of this book ***

If you want the real 411 on the poet Baudelaire please visit one of my book Besties’ blog Mackenzie @PhDiva… she actually studied this poet in college in French, And I didn’t even know he was a real person! But to be fair I was a Kinesiology major! I know where your hamstring is!😂

About the Book

A struggling actor, a Brit in America without a green card, Claire needs work and money to survive. Then she gets both. But nothing like she expected.

Claire agrees to become a decoy for a firm of divorce lawyers. Hired to entrap straying husbands, she must catch them on tape with their seductive propositions. The rules? Never hit on the mark directly. Make it clear you’re available, but he has to proposition you, not the other way around. The firm is after evidence, not coercion. The innocent have nothing to hide.

Then the game changes.

When the wife of one of Claire’s targets is violently murdered, the cops are sure the husband is to blame. Desperate to catch him before he kills again, they enlist Claire to lure him into a confession.

Claire can do this. She’s brilliant at assuming a voice and an identity. For a woman who’s mastered the art of manipulation, how difficult could it be to tempt a killer into a trap? But who is the decoy . . . and who is the prey?

Enjoy the day! Berit☀️✨

Happy Thursday book lovers!

Super excited to be on the blog tour and share my review with you for this brilliant book! Many thanks to Noelle for the invitation and to Laura Briggs for this engaging story💕

Could you plan a wedding if you’d never been in love?

Tessa has always dreamed of her own business. And when a beautiful tumbledown house comes up for sale in the Southern town of Bellegrove, she knows it has perfect potential to be an amazing one-stop wedding shop.

Teaming up with three talented friends, they’re ready for big things. They’ve even found their first client – a sweet old lady called Bianca, who’s desperate to give her grandson a spectacular wedding. (Even though he’s equally determined to keep it simple and romantic.)

But as the big day approaches, things start to go wrong. Handsome handyman Blake Ellinghambreaks the news that the building needs re-wiring and the bill for renovations is longer than a royal wedding train. And then one of her friends suddenly quits their fledgling business

Can Tessa pull off the dream wedding? Can Blake be convinced to help? And if the electrics are broken, why are so many sparks flying between him and Tessa?

The perfect feel-good summer romance for 2018 for fans of Debbie Macomber, Jenny Hale and Debbie Johnson.

My Thoughts

4.5 Fantabulous Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5

What a wonderful treat this book was! It’s slightly strange to say a fluffy romantic comedy sucked me in from the very first page but this book did! I read this book in two sittings and when I was done I was sad to leave these characters… The good news! This is only the first book in what I am hoping to be many many more! Seriously something about this book was just as compelling as all those twisty thrillers and I think it was all about these engaging characters!

Tessa, Natalie, and Ama come together to open a wedding planning Business… Tessa is the planner, Natalie is the designer, and Ama is the baker… there was something just so genuine about these girls that captivated me, I wanted to be friends with them, I wanted to join their business (I’m not sure what I would do though?) in addition to the three girls we also have Blake… The hot contractor with a heart of gold who Tessa has hired to renovate the old house that they are using to house their business… renovate might be a generous term…the girls just want the house not to be a fire hazard, although I think Blake has different plans…. Blake also seems to have a bit of a gift for this wedding planning thing!

The romance in this book was very subtle and extremely slow building… no Insta love here my friends… just a little bit of a sneak peek of things to come… and all three girls are single so lots of happily ever afters in the future… of course a book about wedding planners must include a wedding, and this was a fun part of the book…. The couple to be was so humble and sweet you just wanted them to have the perfect day… I loved how they brought three different cultures together in this wedding; Italian, Irish, and Norwegian… and being of Norwegian descent myself I learned some things about my own culture always a treat… I also loved seeing the girls and Blake put all their gifts and talents to good use…. and some of the goodies that Ama created just sounded so delicious! A delightful story that left me wanting more time with these characters…

Absolutely encourage all of you with a heart to pick this book up! It will leave you with a smile on your face and A warm fuzzy feeling in your heart💗

4.5 BIG Stars🌟 The Silent Sister by Shalini Boland @ShaliniBoland @bookouture #BookReview

Happy hump day all!

Super excited to be part of the blog tour for this fabulous psychological thriller! Many thanks to Noelle for my invitation and to Shalini Boland for her tension filled story!💗💗💗

The Silent Sister by Shalini Boland

‘You don’t deserve a sister…’

Lizzy Beresford is at home alone when she hears a strange noise. Running downstairs to check, she discovers a threatening letter addressed to her. But who sent it?

As Lizzy receives more unsettling messages, she begins to doubt those closest to her – her boyfriend, her neighbours, her friends. Because the mystery sender seems to know everything about her.

And they want to destroy her perfect life.

Desperate for answers, Lizzy contacts her sister, Emma. She used to be her best friend. But they haven’t spoken in years. Not since the terrible argument which tore their relationship apart…

Surrounded by secrets and lies, can Lizzy trust her sister? Or is the shocking truth more dangerous than Lizzy ever imagined?

From the bestselling author of The Secret Mother and The Child Next Door, this absolutely unputdownable psychological thriller will keep you guessing with every heart-stopping twist. If you loved Gone Girl, The Girl on the Train and The Sister, this book is for you.

My Thoughts

4.5 Taut Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5

Another fast pace book by Shalini Boland that kept me turning those pages and staying up past my bedtime… from the minute Lizzie found an envelope that appeared aged and as though it was coming up through the floorboards I was hooked! Even the thought of this still gives me goosebumps and the heebie-jeebies… can you imagine an envelope with your name on it just appearing out of nowhere, with the words” you don’t deserve a sister” on it? Creepy!

Lizzy is a outgoing, trusting, and kind person… she is a hard-working reliable shop manager and a faithful and loving girlfriend to Joe…. she is also being STALKED! I think because Lizzie was so likable and relatable and really could be any girl… made this book so much more disturbing and tents for me…. everyone in Lizzie’s life appeared suspicious to both Lizzie and me… from her boyfriend Joe, to her coworker/friend pippa to her boss George, to her next-door neighbor Ian… everyone looked a little guilty… Lizzie and I saw a little badguy in everyone!

Now to complicate things further Lizzie and her sister have been estrange from one another for many years… but could your sister the girl you played dolls with as a kid do this to you? The relationship between Lizzie and Emma was an interesting one and I liked how it was revealed to us throughout this book…. The stalker’s actions in this book escalated throughout the book and got scarier and Boulder as time went on… as much as I liked Lizzie and really felt for her she really didn’t always think things through…. she really did some pretty stupid things…things I would hope I would never do if someone were hunting me! But fortunately I have never been in this situation…

This book was perfectly paced and filled with all the twists and turns you want from a psychological thriller… The ending caught me completely offguard… and that apologue… wowza!

Absolutely recommend to fans of a twisty psychological thriller….

The Summer Getaway by Tilly Tennant @TillyTenWriter @bookouture #BookReview #SummerRead

About the Book

Ashley Moon is all set for a dream holiday with her daughter in the glittering French Riviera. But nothing can prepare her for the shock of discovering who’s staying in the villa next door…

Ashley Moon got much more than a suntan on her first ever foreign holiday; one whirlwind romance and nine months later she had a daughter, Molly.

Too heartbroken and proud to ever contact the father, Ashley made a decision to go it alone and raise her daughter herself. Fifteen hard and lonely years later, she finally has the chance to take Molly on her first ever holiday; a gorgeous, all-expenses-paid trip to the charming French resort of St. Raphael.

It is the perfect setting for a week of quality time together; they plan to cycle through the sun-drenched vineyards, lounge by the glistening pool and practise their French on friendly locals. And just when Ashley thought things couldn’t get any better, comes the news of a handsome new occupant in the villa next door.

But fate has other plans for Ashley. One look into her neighbour’s dark hazel eyes is all it takes to give her the shock of her life. Standing in front of her is Haydon, Molly’s long-lost father and the holiday fling she thought she’d never see again.

As the temperature on the Cote D’Azure steadily rises and Ashley and Haydon begin to spend more and more time together, will Ashley find the courage to tell him who she is – and more importantly, who Molly is?

A wonderfully heart-warming story of first love and second chances for fans of Jenny Oliver and Lucy Diamond.

My Thoughts

4.5 Second Chance Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5

Magnifique! Loved this second chance love story set in the beautiful south of France… another book that allowed me to go on vacation without needing to pack a bag or board a plane…. A lovely story filled with French food, French villas, French family, and French kissing 💋

16 years ago Ashley found herself pregnant after A fling on a holiday to Ibiza… all she knows about the baby daddy is his name and the fact that he gave her the wrong phone number… now 16 years later Ashley finds out that the handsome Englishman vacationing next-door is Haydon AKA baby daddy… now this is extremely coincidental and highly improbable, but hey it’s fiction, right? Loved getting to know both Ashley and Haydon they were both real relatable characters and fierce parents…

So… what do you do when you find yourself vacationing next to an old fling who is also the father of your daughter? Oh and I forgot to mention he does not know this….. Panic! And then you read this book to find out what not to do 😂 well Ashley probably did not handle this as well as she could have, but…. who am I to judge? I’ve never been in this situation…. and Ashley’s mom really did not help the situation she was a bit hostile and a bit pushy….

This was a very sweet love story… with a beautiful setting and charming characters that left me with a smile on my face and craving a croissant… absolutely recommend when you’re in the mood for a second chance love story that will sweep you away to the south of France!

4.5 Sizzling Stars🌟 The Real Deal by Lauren Blakely @LaurenBlakely3 @InkSlingerPR #BookReview #PubDay

Happy Pub Day to this perfect summer romantic comedy!😍

Sometimes you need to find a boyfriend-for-hire in the most unusual of places…

What do you get when you mix a bad boy with a heart of gold and a smart & sassy heroine with a desperate need for a fake relationship? THE REAL DEAL, a brand new, standalone romantic comedy from #1 New York Times bestseller Lauren Blakely!

My Thoughts

4.5 Sizzling Summer Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5

Lauren Blakely did it again! Another fabulous romantic comedy that doesn’t take its self too seriously… I know I can always count on Miss Blakely for some laughs and abs….

April is not going to her families summer reunion without a date! She is done with the family constantly trying to fix her up just to get her to come home… Theo is a bartender with a gig on the side…. he is a rent a boyfriend… i’m sure you can tell how this all starts out… April and Theo start out as a business arrangement completely platonic… but even from their very first meeting in the park you could feel the sparks between them…

April is a fabulous female MC… loved her she was strong, independent, sassy, kind, the kind of girl you would love to be friends with… Theo was a very typical Lauren Blakely mail MC… A little bad boy, a little arrogant, a lot gorgeous with a wonderful sense of humor… oh and we cannot forget about the ABS! Their relationship was a bit Insta, but it worked for me in this book, I felt it! Loved the banter between them and you could just tell they were both very caring people that deserve this….

A bonus in this book was the fabulous setting of the summer reunion… loved getting to know April‘s family better and I love the small town vibe… I wanted to jump in and join the fun and games at this reunion… twister… the hula hoop… a scavenger hunt…. this really is the perfect summer romantic comedy💕

Absolutely recommend if you are a fan of this author, the romantic comedy, or a fun summer read…

About the Book

April Hamilton wants you to know she hasn’t been on GigsForHire since that time she sold her futon after college. She doesn’t even spend that much time online. And even if she did, she would not be looking up personal ads. But going home alone for her family’s summer reunion is an invitation for every single relative to butt into her personal life. She simply can’t handle another blind date with the butcher, the baker or the candlestick maker from her hometown. So when she finds the GigsforHire ad for a boyfriend-for-hire, she’s ready to pay to play.

Heading Home and Need a Buffer? I’m the REAL DEAL.

Theo Banks has been running from the past for years. He’s this close to finally settling all his debts, and one more job as a boyfriend-for-hire will do the trick. He’s no gigolo. Please. He’s something of an actor, and he knows how to slip into any role, including pretending to be April’s new beau — the bad boy with the heart of gold.

Even if it means sleeping in close quarters in that tiny little bed in her parents’ inn. Even if it means spinning tales of a romance that starts to feel all too true. What neither one of them counts on is that amid the egg toss, the arm wrestling, and a fierce game of Lawn Twister that has them tangled up together, they might be feeling the real deal.

She only wanted to show her family once and for all that she had no need to settle down.

He didn’t expect to have the time of his life at her parent’s home.

They didn’t plan on loving every single second of the game.

But can a masterful game of pretend result in true love?

4.5 Summertime Stars☀️🌟 The Summer List by Amy Mason Doan @AmyLDoan @HarlequinBooks #BookReview

Hope you’re having a fabulous weekend!

We are in the middle of a heat wave here in Southern California so it is the perfect day for me to bring you my review for this wonderful beach read🏖

The Summer List

The Summer List by Amy Mason Doan

My Thoughts

4.5 Summertime Stars☀️ 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5

What a beautiful story about the bonds of friendship… this book brilliantly brought you back in time to the lazy days of summer in your teens… when all I cared about was boys, my clothes, boys, my hair, boys, and my tan…. now I am longing for the good good good old days! And yes I was a super deep teenager obviously, LOL 😂

This book is about best friends Laura and Casey… Loved both of these girls and how strong the bond between them was… i’d love to spend a few days of summer with them swimming in the lake… rollerskating at the roller rink… and participating in their crazy scavenger hunts…. Casey’s mom Alex was a bit eccentric, but Laura who had a complicated relationship with her own mother really admired Alex… Alex really was a teenager trapped in a thirtysomething body…. her relationship with both girls was wonderful but complex….

Casey and Laura had big plans to head off to LA for college together… but then one dreadful summer night something happened that teared them apart… this book gives you the story of the girls summer days of their youth as well as 15 years later when they reunite…. this book really had a dose of everything fabulous characters with wonderful complicated relationships, a fair dose of mystery, and a romance…. The romance was sweet and subtle and made me smile…

what happened to tear these two best friends apart? And will the reunion be a good one? This book is all about friendship, forgiveness, Family, first love, second chances, secrets, and love….

Absolutely recommend as the perfect beach read! When you’re in the mood for a beautiful story that will captivate you from start to finish…

*** many thanks to Harlequin for my copy of this enchanting book ***

About the Book

A tender yet tantalizing novel about two friends, the summer night they fell apart, and the scavenger hunt that reunites them decades later—until the clues expose a breathtaking secret that just might shatter them once and for all.

Laura and Casey were once inseparable: as they floated on their backs in the sunlit lake, as they dreamed about the future under starry skies, and as they teamed up for the wild scavenger hunts in their small California lakeside town. Until one summer night, when a shocking betrayal sent Laura running through the pines, down the dock, and into a new life, leaving Casey and a first love in her wake.

But the past is impossible to escape, and now, after seventeen years away, Laura is pulled home and into a reunion with Casey she can’t resist—one last scavenger hunt. With a twist: this time, the list of clues leads to the settings of their most cherished summer memories. From glistening Jade Cove to the vintage skating rink, each step they take becomes a bittersweet reminder of the friendship they once shared. But just as the game brings Laura and Casey back together, the clues unravel a stunning secret that threatens to tear them apart…

Mesmerizing and unforgettable, Amy Mason Doan’s The Summer List is about losing and recapturing the person who understands you best—and the unbreakable bonds of girlhood.

4.5 Beautiful Stars🌟 The Fragile Ordinary by Samantha Young @authorSamYoung @HarlequinTEEN @InkSlingerPR #BookReview

The heat is on! It is supposed to be 114°F today in lovely Southern California!☀️ good thing reading is an indoor activity!

Delighted to be on the blog tour and share my review for this emotional book from Samantha Young😍

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Impossible Vastness of Us and the On Dublin Street series comes a heartfelt and beautiful new young adult novel, set in Scotland, about daring to dream and embracing who you are. Order your copy of THE FRAGILE ORDINARY today!

I am Comet Caldwell.

And I sort of, kind of, absolutely hate my name.

People expect extraordinary things from a girl named Comet. That she’ll be effortlessly cool and light up a room the way a comet blazes across the sky.

But from the shyness that makes her book-character friends more appealing than real people to the parents whose indifference hurts more than an open wound, Comet has never wanted to be the center of attention. She can’t wait to graduate from her high school in Edinburgh, Scotland, where the only place she ever feels truly herself is on her anonymous poetry blog. But surely that will change once she leaves to attend university somewhere far, far away.

When new student Tobias King blazes in from America and shakes up the school, Comet thinks she’s got the bad boy figured out. Until they’re thrown together for a class assignment and begin to form an unlikely connection. Everything shifts in Comet’s ordinary world. Tobias has a dark past and runs with a tough crowd—and none of them are happy about his interest in Comet. Targeted by bullies and thrown into the spotlight, Comet and Tobias can go their separate ways…or take a risk on something extraordinary.

My Thoughts

4.5 Beautiful Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5

Samantha Young can write charming relatable characters like nobody else…. I know any time I pick up one of her books I am in for a treat…. she also has done an amazing job with the transition to young adult books… both books I have read from her in this genre have been wonderful and true to the genre…. Samantha writes beautiful emotional books filled with remarkable characters living relatable lives…

This book is aboutComet an intelligent, delightful, introverted girl that would rather be home reading a book then at a party with college boys… now Comet and my teenage self weren’t terribly alike (I would have preferred to be at the party with the college boys) but whether or not you can see yourself in her doesn’t matter, you will find her engaging and somebody you will absolutely want the best for…. her struggle to figure out who she is will pull at your heartstrings and remind you of being a teenager…

This book was more of a coming-of-age story than a romance, but of course there is a boy… Tobias is the stereotypical hot new boy… A little bad boy, a little tragic, just begging to be saved…. even though Tobias was pretty cliché I found him perfect for Comet… he really had a soft sweet side that I found so endearing… also the relationship between these two was perfect… just the perfect blend of friendship and romance… and bonus it was slow burning always love that! Comet also had two delightful BFFs… what I really liked about this friendship was the girls were all there for each other and yet they all were typical selfish teenagers and so sometimes they weren’t the best possible friend they could be….

Comet also had some pretty dreadful parents… seriously, I try not to judge, but these two should not have been allowed to have children…. not sure if Samantha Young had some parent issues, but the parents in both this and her previous young adult book were pretty darn selfish…. some of the things said to her by her father in particular left me wanting to reach through the pages and give her a big hug… indifference not a good quality when it comes to parenting! But the good news is that Comet was a remarkable young lady in spite of it!

A beautiful emotionally charged character driven story that I recommend to people of all ages… now if you are a parent considering whether or not your child should read this book it does touch on some pretty heavy subject matter… including bullying, drug use, sex, teenage drinking, so perhaps it is a better fit for your more mature teenager 15+….

Three Days Missing

Three Days Missing by Kimberly Belle

My Thoughts

4.5 Page Turning Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5

WOWZA!!! Could not get through this book quick enough! If you are a parent I’d strongly encourage you not to read this if your children are away at summer camp or even at a friends for a sleepover… you will want to make sure they’re sleeping soundly in their own bed or within ear shot… this book is about every parents worst nightmare… that phone call in the middle of the night to let you know your child is MISSING… Kimberly Belle almost did too good of a job making you feel the intense terror, the stress, the hope, and the loss, that these mothers did in this book… as a mother sometimes it was a bit excruciating and almost too real… I found myself reminding myself that this is just a book, and thank goodness!

Kat is a newly single mom and the mother of brilliant nine-year-old Ethan… Kat is a conscientious mother and a little hesitant to send her nine-year-old off to a sleepover field trip with his class especially because, Ethan has a hard time fitting in…. at first I was thinking this was a little young to go off on a sleepover field trip, but all my kids went to science camp in the fifth grade when they were around 10 years old…. Lucky for them I had not read this book right before that! Kat was tremendously relatable, just a good mom trying to give her child a good life filled with all kinds of opportunity…. i’m guessing every mom who reads this book will put themselves in her position *shutter*

Not only do we get the perspective of Kat in the book but we also get the perspective of Steph…Steph is the mother of Sam one of Ethan‘s classmates…. these two mothers stories intertwined… and even though they appear very different on the outside, they are both fierce mothers on the inside…. going to stay vague on the connection between these two ladies, because I don’t want to ruin anything, but I found both of their points of view extremely compelling….

This was a fast-paced perfectly plotted book… filled with all the twists, and turns, and reveals, you’d want from a psychological thriller….. did not see who was the bad guy coming and I really did not see that final twist! My only slight minor complaint is some things Ethan did seemed a little advanced for a nine-year-old, even a brilliant nine-year-old, but this is fiction…

Strongly recommend this to all my psychological thriller loving friends, this is one that will keep you turning the pages and up late into the night!

*** many thanks to Harlequin for my copy of this book ***

About the Book

When a child goes missing, two mothers’ lives collide in a shocking way in this suspenseful novel from the bestselling author of The Marriage Lie .

It’s every parent’s worst nightmare: the call that comes in the middle of the night.

When Kat Jenkins awakens to the police on her doorstep, her greatest fear is realized. Her nine-year-old son, Ethan, is missing—vanished from the cabin where he’d been on an overnight field trip with his class. Shocked and distraught, Kat rushes to the campground where he was last seen. But she’s too late; the authorities have returned from their search empty-handed after losing Ethan’s trail in the mountain forest.

Another mother from the school, Stef Huntington, seems like she has it all: money, prominence in the community, a popular son and a loving husband. She hardly knows Kat, except for the vicious gossip that swirls around Kat’s traumatic past. But as the police investigation unfolds, Ethan’s disappearance will have earth-shattering consequences in Stef’s own life—and the paths of these two mothers are about to cross in ways no one could have anticipated.

Have a lovely day! Berit☀️💋
