My Thoughts

Delightful! Charming! A Whole Lot of FUN!

The “Oddest Little” series is the perfect little escape to brighten any day! Each book has its own unique set of characters with an entirely different story, but they all share The same charm and humor! Each book will warm your heart and leave you with a smile on your face and an overwhelming desire to visit Cornwall!

📚”Oddest Little Book Shop”

This might be my favorite of the bunch, although it is hard to choose a favorite… this was a sweet second chance love story with two wonderful main characters…. Daisy is a big TV star who has returned home to housesit her parents house and lick her wounds after a bad break up… Daisy has been gone for 15 years so when she runs into her old first love Nick she doesn’t know what to think or feel…. and of course she first runs into him in a very precarious position in the nude…. I loved the banter between Daisy and Nick it was sweet and sassy and a little biting at times… wasn’t sure how this all was going to turn out, but the conclusion was perfect and more than satisfying!

I have to add I love the fact that daisies ex-boyfriend‘s name was Ben Dover!😂

🍫”Oddest Little Chocolate Shop”

Clementine, chocolate, a cat, and chemistry all tied up in a perfect little package! This was a scrumptious story all about good old Clementine trying to save her beloved chocolate shop… add in a sexy French chocolatier and this book is the perfect recipe for a lovely afternoon of reading! Clementine is the kind of character you can’t help but cheer for… another fabulous installment in this fun series, this book was in a word delicious!

💕”Oddest Little Romance”

This was another second chance romance with a bit of a twist… Isabel has everything planned out, so what if she is marrying a man she barely knows, it is about time for her to get married… so what happens when she receives an anonymous letter asking her to marry him? Who is this mystery man? And what is he doing spoiling her perfect plans? There were so many crazy mishaps in this book I was smiling the entire time! And can I just say Luis was so over-the-top and I probably wouldn’t like him in real life, but he was a fabulous character! Another homerun in this fabulous series!

Beth Good has fast become one of my favorite authors! This series was so enchanting, I just adored it! There are several Christmas books in the series that I might have purchased today and will be reading and reviewing in December, if I can wait that long! I also got a sneak peek at Miss Good’s full length book coming out later this year, and I am intrigued!

Do yourself a favor pick up one of these delightful Novellas I can guarantee it will brighten up your day!

The locals say the tea rooms are cursed. For Pansy was cruelly jilted by her lover, and walked out into the ocean, never to return.

Charlie dismisses the ‘curse’ as superstitious nonsense, but by the end of the first day, her world is in tatters, and she’s not even sure the tea rooms can open again.

Jane Holland Beth Good credit Anna Rybacka-1Author Bio –

Born and raised in Essex, England, Beth Good was whisked away to an island tax haven at the age of eleven to attend an exclusive public school and rub shoulders with the rich and famous. Sadly, she never became rich or famous herself, so had to settle for infamy as a writer of dubious novels. She writes under several different names, mainly to avoid confusing her readers – and herself! As Beth Good she writes romantic comedy and feel-good fiction. She also writes thrillers as Jane Holland, historicals as Victoria Lamb and Elizabeth Moss, and feel-good fiction as Hannah Coates.

Beth currently lives in the West Country where she spends a great deal of time thinking romantic thoughts while staring out of her window at sheep. (These two actions are unrelated.)

You can find her most days on Twitter as @BethGoodWriter where she occasionally indulges in pointless banter about chocolate making and the Great British Bake Off. Due to a basic inability to say no, she has too many children and not enough money, which means she needs as many readers as she can get.

5 Stunning Stars🌟 Sadie by Courtney Summers @courtney_s @WednesdayBooks #BookReview

Happy Sunday book lovers!

I have a real treat for you today! Grill to share my review for this stunning and powerful book! 💕💕

Sadie by Courtney Summers

My Thoughts

Stunning! Powerful! Uncomfortable!

WOW! Courtney Summers…. you pulled out my heart, ran it over a few times, and put it back, never to be the same again! This book was so ugly and yet so beautiful… so difficult and yet so easy… so heartbreaking and yet so hopeful… A book that will stay with you long after you finish reading the last page…. sadie is a girl that will not allow you to ever forget her! She is your sister, she is your daughter, she is your best friend, she is you!

Sadie is 19 and has not had the easiest of lives… she never knew her father and her mother abandoned her leaving her to take care of her younger sister Mattie… after Mattie is murdered Sadie is devastated and determined… determined to find and kill the man who killed her sister, because her sister was her whole world… told in alternating narratives from Sadie in the first person on her quest to find the man who killed her sister… and also from West McCray A radio personality recording an investigative podcast on the disappearance of Sadie…. I thought this was a very impactful way to structure the story…. we got the real and raw look into the mind of Sadie along with a look at how others saw her through West’s investigation…. and what we learned from this was that Sadie was an edgy, unforgettable damaged soul with a big heart…

Sadie’s story is riveting, but not easy to digest… this book took me a little longer to read then most, it took me some time to internalize some things… and sometimes I needed to just put the book down and take a few breaths…. sadie broke my heart and I just wanted to reach through those pages give her a big hug and let her know there was someone out there that did care….

Absolutely recommend! This is a hyped book that deserves every bit of the hype it is getting!

*** many thanks to Wednesday Books/St. Martin’s Press for my copy of this book ***

About the Book

Sadie hasn’t had an easy life. Growing up on her own, she’s been raising her sister Mattie in an isolated small town, trying her best to provide a normal life and keep their heads above water.

But when Mattie is found dead, Sadie’s entire world crumbles. After a somewhat botched police investigation, Sadie is determined to bring her sister’s killer to justice and hits the road following a few meagre clues to find him.

When West McCray—a radio personality working on a segment about small, forgotten towns in America—overhears Sadie’s story at a local gas station, he becomes obsessed with finding the missing girl. He starts his own podcast as he tracks Sadie’s journey, trying to figure out what happened, hoping to find her before it’s too late.

The Oddest Little Series by Beth Good – 5 Novellas @rararesources @BethGoodWriter #BookReview #BeachShop #TeaShop

Happy Thursday all!

Thrilled to be on the blog tour for this adorable collection of Novellas! Today I will be reviewing two of them Beach and Tea Shop, and the tour will be making another stop here on September 14 for the rest! Many thanks to Rachel for my invitation and to Beth Good for her wonderful words!💕

The Oddest Little Series

My Thoughts

Beach 🏖

magical! Quirky! Beachy!

SO much charm packed into this little package of a book! A beach shop, a love triangle, a pie rolling Contest… oh my! This is the perfect little afternoon pick me up of a novella….

Annie along with her nephew just moved to Polzel… this little resort town was so adorably quirky, another place I want to visit! Annie immediately learns that her neighbor and competition is a gruff and unpleasant man named Gabriel… in contrast her coworker is a lively and hot lifeguard named Jamie…. so what’s a girl to do? Who does she fall for?

A lovely romcom filled with laughs and some swoon worthy moments… and bonus I learned what a pie rolling contest is, I had no idea this was a thing! Beth Good has a wonderful way with words and character development, I was captivated throughout this entire story! The biggest bummer of these Novellas is they end too soon!

*** many thanks to the author and Rachel at Rachel’s Random Resources for my copy of this book ***

Tea Shop 🍵

Quirky! Bewitching! Fun!

Curses and tea shops and hot guys… oh my!

Charlie is excited to reopen her aunt’s tea room in the seaside village of Tremevissey… locals are a little skeptical, they believe the tea rooms are cursed! Charlie believes it is all superstition, even though it was her own Aunt that took her life after being heartbroken… but when things start going sideways Charlie thinks there might be something to this curse thing!

Another delightful book from this collection! These books are like a breath of fresh air on a hot summer day or a warm blanket when it’s cold outside! Comfort food without the calories! Another story filled with romance and some zany antics! Charlie was ?a really likable character and Giddeon wasn’t too bad either! These truly are my favorite types of romance full of lovely characters and laughs! Excited to get to the rest of the books in this wonderful collection! Just realized I use quite a few!!!! In this review, but so deserves it!

🌟🌟🌟🌟·5 Never Too Old Stars

Synopsis

Liam

The moment Sadie Matthews walks through the daycare center door, I feel my world tilt in her direction. Again. I fell for her when I was fourteen, and I’m still not over her. Problem: she still thinks of me as a teen she used to babysit. But I’ve learned a few things about pleasing a woman in the last fifteen years. I can’t wait to show her how good it could be. I need to move quickly before I lose her again. This is more than a game to me, but I still plan to win.

Sadie

I’ve just survived the worst year of my life. As a single mom of twin toddlers, I don’t have time for a man. I barely have time to finish a thought. Who knew that Liam McAllister would grow up to be so devastating? He’s everything my husband was not: tall, built, and willing to have a tea party with my girls.

I can’t possibly get involved with him. He’s too young for me. Too handsome. But he’s so persuasive…

Review

I loved this book, it is the 3rd one in the series, but can absolutely be read as a standalone, the author even told me to tell you in the book.

“Note: We would like to let you know that this is a stand-alone novel. No previous experience with books by Sarina Bowen & Tanya Eby is required. Jump in anywhere!
Other Note: there is some discussion as to who can claim Liam as her official book boyfriend. Please form an orderly line.”

Sadie is a single mum, a single mum to twins, and she is trying to make it on her own.

Struggling alone without the help of with a nanny is fine for her, considering her ex husband and the nanny are now together are the reason for her divorce, Sadie makes the guilty decision to put the girls in daycare.

On the first day she makes sure she has everything ready for her daughters “Piggypoo” for Amy, a cuddly toy who she is VERY attached to, and a Helmet for Kate, who likes to run headfirst into things a lot as she has sensory issues.

Dropping them off and full of guilt, Sadie then bumps into the handsome man who is working at the daycare centre, who turns out to be no other that Liam McAllister, a boy that she used to babysit for when she was younger.

Liam has always had a crush on Sadie since she used to look after him years ago, she is the reason why he now likes older women, but Sadie is having none of it.

Time for Liam to get his game on and turn on the charm!

Sadie can instantly feel the attraction between them, but with Liam being so brilliant with the girls (a total turn on) she finds it more and more difficult to stay away, especially since her friends are also trying to push them together too!

A quick hilarious little story with no drama and a whole lot of fun.

*Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC copy for review.

5 BIG Stars🌟 The Night Olivia Fell by Christina McDonald @Christinamac79 @carlywatters @GalleryBooks #BookReview #BookBestieApproved

Happy hump day book lovers!

So excited to share with you my review for this beautiful suspenseful book! This was our second #BookBestie read and what an emotional read it was! Seriously this book should have come with a big box of Kleenex!💔

The Night Olivia Fell by Christina McDonald

My Thoughts

5 BIG Beautiful Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

wOWZA! This book took me on quite the emotional journey! As a mother I couldn’t help but completely empathize with Abi(The mother in this story)… I cried with her… I raged with her… I hoped with her… my mama bear was out throughout this book, I needed answers and I needed them now! Imagining my own daughter in the hospital bed brain-dead and pregnant, quite honestly made me a little sick and stressed… this is a credit to the beautiful and engrossing writing in this book, I was completely immersed and committed…. The fact that this is Christina McDonald’s debut is simply…. impressive!

Abi gets that phone call in the middle of the night that all parents fear… her daughter is in the hospital, she has fallen off a bridge…Abi’s mothers intuition tells her this was not an accident and this is reinforced by the bruises around her daughter’s wrist…. The police don’t appear to be doing much of anything to find out who pushed Olivia off that bridge…. but Abi is determined and will stop at nothing to find out who hurt her little girl…

Told from both Abi and Olivia‘s perspectives… we get the events leading up to this tragedy from Olivia‘s eyes… as well as watching Abi’s heart wrenching journey… not only to accept that she has lost her daughter, but also to figure out how this could have happened…. this was such an impactful way to tell the story because the more I got to know Olivia the more my heart broke right along with Abi’s…. also Christina McDonnell did a fabulous job with getting into the mind of both a 17-year-old and her mother…. I saw a lot of myself in both of these characters…

This was an emotional domestic suspense… as the book progressed I was suspicious of almost everyone at some point… I also found myself questioning both Olivia and Abbi’s actions… I kept thinking if only…. then… but isn’t that what life is all about? every choice we make has an impact on our lives…. had Abby told Olivia who her father was, then maybe? Had Olivia told her mother who she had fallen in love with, then perhaps? So many questions and no good answers and as we all know hindsight is always 20/20…

This is a book that left me with tears in my eyes and hope in my heart! I absolutely recommend for anyone who enjoys A beautiful story about the love between mothers and daughters with a huge dose of suspense thrown in….

*** many thanks to Christina McDonald and Gallery for my copy of this book the book releases in February 2019 ***

About the Book ~Releases February 2019

In the small hours of the morning, Abi Knight is startled awake by the phone call no mother ever wants to get: her teenage daughter Olivia has fallen off a bridge. Not only is Olivia brain dead, she’s pregnant and must remain on life support to keep her baby alive. And then Abi sees the angry bruises circling Olivia’s wrists.

When the police unexpectedly rule Olivia’s fall an accident, Abi decides to find out what really happened that night. Heartbroken and grieving, she unravels the threads of her daughter’s life. Was Olivia’s fall an accident? Or something far more sinister?

Christina McDonald weaves a suspenseful and heartwrenching tale of hidden relationships, devastating lies, and the power of a mother’s love. With flashbacks of Olivia’s own resolve to uncover family secrets, this taut and emotional novel asks: how well do you know your children? And how well do they know you?

Hope you’re having a lovely weekend!

Delighted to be on the blog tour for the fourth installment in this enchanting serial. Many thanks to Rachel for my invitation and to Emily Harvale for her captivating words💜🐸

Trick or Treat

Mia Ward was amazed to inherit her great-aunt Matilda’s thatched cottage in the tiny seaside village of Little Pondale – especially as Mia didn’t know she had a great-aunt Matilda. She was even more astonished to discover she’d only inherit the place if she lives there for a year.

But a lot can happen in a very short time, and life in Little Pondale is not going quite as Mia hoped. She may have finally beaten one fear, but now heartbreak threatens to drown her.

And when at last, she starts to unravel the mystery of Matilda’s past, she uncovers an extraordinary plan for her own future. Now just who can Mia trust?

As the nights draw in and cold winds steal through Sunbeam Cottage, she turns to an unlikely source for comfort and support. But with the fortune teller’s warning still ringing in her ears, is Mia about to make the biggest mistake of her life?

My Thoughts

5 Enchanting Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This was the perfect ending to this delightful serial…. from first book to last I was completely captivated by the engaging characters in these books… I enjoyed every minute I spend in Lily Pondale at Sunbeam cottage…. The characters, the plot, the setting, every aspect of these books was simply charming…

Looking back on the first book I never would have imagined where all these characters would have ended up…. but I am more than happy with this ending…. loved taking this journey with Mia… love how she followed her heart… overcame her fear’s…. and unraveled her Aunt Matilda’s mystery….

This was a satisfying conclusion to this serial… but the best news of all is it is not over…. there is a Christmas book! Absolutely recommend these delightful books… and I strongly encourage you to read them in order… you won’t want to miss a second with these characters!

5 Spectacular Stars🌟 Rush by Lisa Patton @LisaPattonbooks #BookReview

TGIF book lovers!

Excited to share with you my review for this spectacularly southern story! Filled with heart and hope!💕

Rush by Lisa Patton

My Thoughts

5 Spectacularly Southern Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This was a buddy read with one of my book Besties Mackenzie… she started before I did and said the book was reminiscent of “The Help“ and I’d have to agree…. both books have a very similar vibe and this is very high praise because “The Help” is one of my all-time favorite books…. A lot of this book focuses on the Greek system at Ole Miss…. by Greek system I mean social sororities and fraternities and buy Ole Mis I mean University of Mississippi… I myself was in a sorority when I was in college and both my older kids are currently in a Greek social organization at their universities…. I thought perhaps because of this tie in I liked the book more but my reading buddy Mackenzie Who is not Greek enjoyed it just as much as me! Because really whether you are Greek or not, southern or not, American or not, at its heart this book is about compassion, acceptance, change, family, and friendship….

This book was told from three alternating points of view… Cali A college freshman with a less than stellar pedigree but a heart of gold… Wilda A helicopter mother of a girl who is a freshman as well and Cali’s New BFF… Pearl the cleaning lady and in house “psychologist“ at the ΑΔΒ sorority house….

Pearl is very loved by all theΑΔ sisters… she is their mother away from home, and the girls probably tell her more than they would tell their actual mothers…. Pearl was a tremendously likable character, I seriously wanted a big hug from her and wish she had been part of my college experience…. this part of the story really focused on the change that is needed… and racial inequality as well as social inequality… it also was a very hopeful part of the story… I truly believe today’s youth are so much more accepting then previous generations and it gives me so much hope for our future…. The sorority girls actions in the story were a wonderful example of this….

The other part of the book was about sorority recruitment at a huge SEC school where it is pretty cutthroat…. Cali is not a legacy none of her relatives have ever been Greek… and from what I understand this is a huge deal in the south… living in California sorority/fraternity recruitment/Rush is an entirely different animal than in the south where it is the end-all and be-all of who you are during your college days… A lot of this is because the south is so steeped in tradition… this book really showed the ugly side of sorority rush and how dirty it can be… what house you get into is so important and sometimes it is more important to these girl’s mothers then it is to the girls themselves…. now some of the shenanigans and outcomes in this book I’m not sure could actually happen, but this is fiction… and the author went to the University of Alabama so she’d know better than me! how competitive sorority recruitment has become was really demonstrated well in this book…. but I absolutely loved Cali’s attitude she wasn’t concerned with getting into a “top“ house she just wanted a sisterhood to belong to… Cali was such a wonderful character sweet, smart, humble, compassionate, just the kind of girl you’d want your daughter to be friends with and you’d want your son to date… I enjoyed this part of the book it brought back memories and my daughter just went through sorority recruitment a couple years ago…. I also liked how it painted a different picture of sororities then a lot of other books, it focus more on the sisterhood and their philanthropic activities, rather than partying…. and I really think this book painted the Greek system in a positive light more than anything else…

This book really had so much heart, at its very core it was really about the bonds between females… young and old… rich and poor… sister or not… it was about growing and learning and changing and learning who you really are…. I fell in love with each and everyone of these characters and hated the book to end because I did not want to say goodbye…. this book will leave you with a smile on your face and hope in your heart!

Absolutely recommend when you are in the mood for an uplifting hopeful story filled with an amazing cast of characters you won’t soon forget!

About the Book

Set in modern day Oxford, Mississippi, on the Ole Miss campus, bestselling author Lisa Patton’s RUSH is a story about women—from both ends of the social ladder—discovering their voices, courage and empowerment.

When Lilith Whitmore, the well-heeled House Corp President of Alpha Delta Beta, one of the premiere sororities on campus, appoints recent empty-nester Wilda to the Rush Advisory Board, Wilda can hardly believe her luck. What’s more, Lilith suggests their daughters, both incoming freshman, room together. What Wilda doesn’t know is that it’s all part of Lilith’s plan to ensure her own daughter receives an Alpha Delt bid—no matter what.

Cali Watkins possesses all the qualities sororities are looking for in a potential new member. She’s kind and intelligent, makes friends easily, even plans to someday run for governor. But her resume lacks a vital ingredient. Pedigree. Without family money Cali’s chances of sorority membership are already thin, but she has an even bigger problem. If anyone discovers the dark family secrets she’s hiding, she’ll be dropped from she’s hiding, she’ll be dropped from Rush in an instant.

For twenty-five years, Miss Pearl—as her “babies” like to call her—has been housekeeper and a second mother to the Alpha Delt girls, even though it reminds her of a painful part of her past she’ll never forget. When an opportunity for promotion arises, it seems a natural fit. But Lilith Whitmore slams her Prada heel down fast, crushing Miss Pearl’s hopes of a better future. When Wilda and the girls find out, they devise a plan destined to change Alpha Delta Beta—and maybe the entire Greek system—forever.

Achingly poignant, yet laugh-out-loud funny, RUSH takes a sharp nuanced look at a centuries-old tradition while exploring the complex, intimate relationships between mothers and daughters and female friends. Brimming with heart and hope for a better tomorrow, RUSH is an uplifting novel universal to us all. (less)

Playing tennis is the only way to connect to the girl she used to be before tragedy struck. The day Bryce Coulter turns up at her court, she turns on that classic attitude. If there’s anything she’s learned it’s how to make a guy run. Except, he’s not running. And maybe she doesn’t want him to….

Review

New author to me Nana Malone makes this one new author for me to look out for.

This was a lovely little sports romance, rich famous tennis player, meets poor ex tennis player.

Bryce Coulter is a semi famous tennis player, he has had an injury and had to have an operation so he is not playing at the moment.
This doesn’t stop his filly of bed mates though, his family name makes him just as attractive as he is!

Tami Ivey has had a bit of a rough time, she was at one point a professional tennis player, but gave this up to look after her sick, dying mother.

A couple of years later she also has another devastating blow, and finds herself dating a horrid man that treats her really badly.
So tennis helps her forget her life problems.

Bryce and Tami meet one evening while she is practicing, and he decides that she is the one for him, only she doesn’t see it that way!

Doing all of the chasing, Bryce and Tami start dating, but it isn’t without it’s hurdles, and Bryce’s family don’t help either!

🎧🎧 Narrated by Sebastian York #SebYes and new to me narrator Traci Odom, who did a great job, Mr York is a narrator that i openly stalk on Audible, so this book was a no brainer for me, and the pair did a great job.

Crack out the strawberries and cream!

The Cottage on Lily Pond Lane Part Three – Autumn Leaves by Emily Harvale #LilyPondLane @rararesources @emilyharvale #BookReview

Happy Thursday y’all! And happy back to school to my highschooler, cannot believe the summer is over where did it go???

Delighted to share with you today my review for the third book in this engaging serial! Many thanks to Rachel for my invitation and to Emily Harvale for this charming story💜🐸

Autumn Leaves

The Cottage on Lily Pond Lane

Part Three – Autumn leaves

Mia Ward was amazed to inherit her great-aunt Matilda’s thatched cottage in the tiny seaside village of Little Pondale – especially as Mia didn’t know she had a great-aunt Matilda. She was equally astonished to discover she’d only inherit the place if she lives there for a year.

But it didn’t take long for Mia and her friends, Ella and Garrick to settle in. Now Mia’s mum, Lori has joined them, and they’re all enjoying village life. Mia’s keen to overcome her fear of water and with Garrick by her side, she’s confident about the future.

Until a fortune teller’s predictions give everyone cause for concern. Now Mia’s not so sure of anything, except that someone still wants her to leave. That makes her more determined to learn all she can about Matilda – and the codicil.

But as the mists roll in over the sea, are autumn winds making passions cool? And when more than one unexpected visitor gives Mia a shocking surprise, is everything about to change?

My Thoughts

5 Enchanting Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

It was so nice to be back in Lily Pondale at Sunbeam cottage with these fabulous characters! At the end of the last book Mia and friends visited a fortuneteller… what did the fortuneteller see in their future? And do these fortunes come true? This is the third book in this four part serial… I would strongly encourage you to read these books in order, otherwise you will truly be lost…. not to mention you will want to spend every minute possible with these delightful characters!

This was probably my favorite book in this serial so far… I love the addition of Lori, Mia’s mother she is quite the character… this book was also filled with many surprising plot twists all taking the story in the direction I wanted it to go… don’t you love when an author can read your mind? We also got to know a little bit more about mysterious Aunt Matilda and her intriguing past… it is quite amazing how much fabulousness is packed into this little book….

It’s hard for me to properly gush when I don’t want to give anything away… just know this is a delightful story set in a charming village filled with engaging characters… from first page to last you feel as though you are living in this village and friends with these characters…

The fourth book is sitting on my Kindle but I think I’m putting it off because I’m not ready to say goodbye to these characters…

Absolutely recommend this enchanting serial… perfect for reading poolside in the summer or fireside in the autumn!

All Your Perfects by Colleen Hoover @colleenhoover #AudiobookReview #Romance #AllTheFeels

All Your Perfects

All Your Perfects by Colleen Hoover

🌟🌟🌟🌟·5 All Your Perfects Stars

Synopsis

Colleen Hoover delivers a tour de force novel about a troubled marriage and the one old forgotten promise that might be able to save it.

Quinn and Graham’s perfect love is threatened by their imperfect marriage. The memories, mistakes, and secrets that they have built up over the years are now tearing them apart. The one thing that could save them might also be the very thing that pushes their marriage beyond the point of repair.

All Your Perfects is a profound novel about a damaged couple whose potential future hinges on promises made in the past. This is a heartbreaking page-turner that asks: Can a resounding love with a perfect beginning survive a lifetime between two imperfect people?

Review

Well CoHo really loves playing with your emotions in this one!

I was in two minds on whether to rate this a 4 or 5 star so i met in the middle with 4.5

This book is about 2 people, and the struggles of marriage, namely being able to concieve.

I have been very lucky and have been able to have a child, but there was a point in my life that i thought i couldn’t, for 3 years we tried, and luckily i found out that he was a lying piece of crap, so i’m so glad it didn’t happen.

2 years later i met and married my now husband, and a year later, we were pregnant, a complete surprise accident, because i thought after previous attempts that there was something wrong with me.
12 years later, my little boy is my life, there was a miscarriage about 6 years ago, and that was hard as i always wanted a big family, but i have 2 step children who i love as my own, so i am happy, but for a while i really thought that is was never going to happen for me, and that was an awful feeling, so i can see how people become so obsessed.

Quinn is not happy, she cannot imagine her life without her own child.

The story flips between the past and present, and i loved the way that she did this so that it wasn’t heavy all of the time.

In the THEN parts of the book you’ll see how happy they really were how they fell in love and how wonderful life was for them.

In the NOW part of the book you’ll see how Quinn and Graham are struggling, really struggling.

Quinn wants a baby, she wants a baby so badly, but it takes over her life. At the beginning it was fun, having all the sex but then it turned into a chore, sex was just to make a baby, nothing more, and unfortunately for Graham he became part of that chore.

Sex was no longer fun it was a means to an end but that end never came for Quinn so they went down the route of tests, Graham’s results were fine at Quinns not so much.

To say that Quinn became obsessive is a bit of an understatement! And I understand why.

You know all those times that you say to your friends “ooh you’ll be next” and you don’t think about it, or when you say “When are you two going to start popping kids out?”
Quinn gets this all of the time from her friends, and also from her mother, who lends them money for tests and IVF, but that doesn’t work either!

Quinn feels ashamed and broken and alone because Graham doesn’t seem to be as bothered as her, or that’s how she sees it.

I often found myself sympathizing with Graham, but also wanting to give Quinn a hug and tell her how sorry I am, and that it doesn’t make her a bad person, she’s not broken, and she’s loved!

Other times I just wanted to shake Quinn and tell her to stop being so bloody obsessed, and that Graham was waiting there for her, and that he was hurting too, because he could see what this was doing to her.

The only issue I had with a book was last chapter, I don’t know whether Quinn would actually do that, I’m not sure that something as monumental as infertility could then be turned into something they laughed about, maybe it’s just me?

Either way this one is a great one to add to your TBR and Coho certainly knows how to pull at the heartstrings.

🎧🎧 Narrated by Madeleine Maby a new narrator for me who did a stellar job, I knew who was who and will look out for her narrating other books.

Grab that Kleenex. & a big box of chocolates for this one!
