5 Perfect Stars🌟 The Simple Wild by K A Tucker @kathleenatucker @AtriaBooks #BookReview

Happy Monday book friends!

Thrilled to share with you my review for this book that is SIMPLE PERFECTION! Out tomorrow August 7 and I strongly encourage you to pick this one up!😍😍😍

The Simple Wild by K A Tucker

My Thoughts

5 Simply Perfect Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

K A Tucker is one of my absolute favorite authors, and this is now my absolute favorite book by her! Sorry “Ten Tiny Breaths “you still are fabulous… but this book has edged you out of that top spot! When you pick up a k a Tucker book you know you are going to go on an emotional journey, filled with fabulously complex characters, and a plot filled with twists and secrets that will keep you on your toes…. this book did all that and so much more… truly a beautiful story all about love set in the cold beauty of Alaska…

Calla is 26 and has not seen her dad since she was two years old when her mother and she left rugged Alaska for Toronto…Calla has been hurt by her father’s absence in her life, but fortunate for her she has the world’s greatest stepfather Simon… can I just take a minute to praise Simon’s character… this man was everything a parent should be, I was beyond impressed with him… and can I just say he truly deserved much more than Susan (Calla’s mom) gave him…. after receiving a phone call from a stranger in Alaska urging her to come see her father before it is too late and some wonderful advice from Saint Simon; Calla packs her many bags and heads to Alaska….

Met at the airport by Jonah a.k.a. “the yeti “ Calla’s alaskan journey begins…. for Jonah and Calla it is dislike at first sight… my favorite trope is enemies to lovers and I loved watching the relationship between these two develop… The banter between them was absolutely priceless and some of the things they did to one another were downright wrong… but so hilarious…..

I absolutely loved how Calla embraced small town Alaska… it took her a little while longer to fully embrace her father Wren…. and that is completely understandable after all where has he been for all these years? Not a phone call since she was 12, and he missed her eighth-grade graduation…. but Calla doesn’t know the entire story and as things are revealed to her and she gets to know her father better her heart starts to open up to him….

There is so much love in this book and it is beautiful and it is heartbreaking… The love these people have for the state of Alaska… the Love this community has for one another… The love of family, and not necessarily a biological family but a found family… and romantic love, both wonderful and new, and heartbreaking and lasting….

“The Simple Wild” is simple perfection… I absolutely recommend this book to everybody… it will make you smile, it will make you laugh, it will make you cry tears of joy and heartbreak… and it will make you want to go to Alaska!

*** many thanks to Atria for my copy of this beautiful book ***

About the Book

Calla Fletcher wasn’t even two when her mother took her and fled the Alaskan wild, unable to handle the isolation of the extreme, rural lifestyle, leaving behind Calla’s father, Wren Fletcher, in the process. Calla never looked back, and at twenty-six, a busy life in Toronto is all she knows. But when Calla learns that Wren’s days may be numbered, she knows that it’s time to make the long trip back to the remote frontier town where she was born.

She braves the roaming wildlife, the odd daylight hours, the exorbitant prices, and even the occasional—dear God—outhouse, all for the chance to connect with her father: a man who, despite his many faults, she can’t help but care for. While she struggles to adjust to this rugged environment, Jonah—the unkempt, obnoxious, and proud Alaskan pilot who helps keep her father’s charter plane company operational—can’t imagine calling anywhere else home. And he’s clearly waiting with one hand n the throttle to fly this city girl back to where she belongs, convinced that she’s too pampered to handle the wild.

Jonah is probably right, but Calla is determined to prove him wrong. Soon, she finds herself forming an unexpected bond with the burly pilot. As his undercurrent of disapproval dwindles, it’s replaced by friendship—or perhaps something deeper? But Calla is not in Alaska to stay and Jonah will never leave. It would be foolish of her to kindle a romance, to take the same path her parents tried—and failed at—years ago. It’s a simple truth that turns out to be not so simple after all.

Have a wonderful week! Berit☀️✨

5 Fabulously FUN Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

🎵 and we’ll have fun, fun, fun, till the grandkids take the RV away!🎵

This was such a delightful and fun book from first page to last! This is the follow-up to “ The Runaway Wife “ an equally delightful book, however it can absolutely 100% be read as a standalone…. and I strongly encourage you to pick both of these books up! Filled with so much fun and fabulous characters and the best part these characters are pushing 70…. whether you are 20 or 69 or older, it is just so nice reading a book about women in the later part of their life having the time of their lives! It is good to know the best is yet to come!

This time Connie has traded in Kermit the car for Bella the RV… now living in London teaching flower arranging classes… Connie is starting to get itchy feet… having recently learned of a long lost relative in Italy she decides to purchase an RV and head on a road trip, but this time not alone…. Maggie and Gil, two women taking her flower arranging classes needed to get away as well so they join Connie on this journey…. these ladies were acquaintances before the road trip and part of the fun of this book was watching the bond between them grow and grow and grow…. three very different women bonding over life experiences and learning you still have things to learn no matter your age….

There is also a bit of a dark side in this book…. Maggie left London with $100,000 and left behind an angry man! An angry man determined to catch up with her… can these three ladies have the road trip of their dreams even with that maroon Lexus chasing them? Well you my friends are going to need to read this book to find out! And truly how can you beat a book with fabulous characters visiting beautiful France and Italy? Allowing you to vacation vicariously through them…. loved all the sites, the beauty, the food, the vineyards, and most of all the people…

An absolutely perfect summer read that I would strongly recommend to all!💕

Meet Dee MacDonald

The Runaway Wife is Dee’s first (published) novel but in fact she wrote her very first book – at around seven years of age! This was a love story which she duly illustrated before sewing all the pages together up one side. Writing was what she ‘was good at’ in school and she won several essay competitions, but then life got in the way and she didn’t pick up a pen again until after retirement.

Dee left Scotland and headed for London at the beginning of the swinging sixties. After typing her way round the West End she became an air stewardess on long haul routes with BA (then BOAC) for eight years. After that she did market research at Heathrow for both the government statistics and for BA, she became a sales rep., and was the receptionist at the Thames Television Studios in Teddington when they had the franchise.

She then ran a small B&B for ten years in Cornwall, where she lives with her husband. Dee has one son and two grandsons who live locally.

Her second book, The Getaway Girls, will be published in August.

Saving Beck by Courtney Cole @InkSlingerPR @Court_Writes #BookReview #Excerpt

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

Excited to share with you today my review for this gripping real and raw story that I strongly encourage you to pick up!💞

Reminiscent of the beloved novels by Mary Kubica and Jodi Picoult comes a chilling portrayal of a son’s addiction and its harrowing effects on both him and his mother from New York Times bestselling author Courtney Cole. SAVING BECK is now available! Check out the tour below, and pick up your copy of SAVING BECK today!

There comes a time when offering your life for your child’s doesn’t work, when you realize that it’ll never be enough.

The cold needle in his warm vein was a welcome comfort to my son at first. But then it became the monster that kept us apart.

Heroin lied, and my son believed. It took him to a world where the last year didn’t happen, to a place where his father was still alive. What Beck didn’t understand was that it couldn’t bring his father back from the dead. It couldn’t take away his pain, not permanently.

You think it can’t happen to you, that your kids, your family, will never be in this situation.
I thought that too. But you’re wrong.

Step into our world, and see for yourself.
Watch my golden boy become a slave to this raging epidemic. Watch me try and save him.

Drug addiction comes with a price.
Trust me, you’re not equipped to pay it.

Don’t miss this heart wrenching, evocative, yet hopeful novel—it will leave you forever changed.

My Thoughts

5 Heartbreaking Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This book takes a real and raw look at addiction and its impact not only on the addict but the addict’s entire family… Courtney Cole takes you on such an emotional journey with this book… and the fact that she has gone through this with her own son adds so much authenticity to the story…. as a mother I could not help but put myself in Natalie’s (the mother in this book) shoes… I cannot even imagine how helpless you would feel watching your child struggle with any type of addiction much less heroin… addiction has already had an impact on myself and my kids, their father is an addict (not a heroin addict) something that has both hurt them and made them stronger…. but there is a genetic component to addiction and that made this book all the more real and heartbreaking for me….

The book starts with Beck overdosing right in front of his mother Natalie…. Beck goes to the hospital and is placed in a medically induced coma… The story is told from both Beck and Natalie‘s perspectives…. I thought this was very effective, because we got both sides of the story leading up to the overdose… Beck was a stereotypical all-American boy… a good student, an athlete, has a lovely girlfriend, and a loving family… not what you picture when you think addict, but I’m sure as we all know addiction does not discriminate… after the family goes through a major tragedy and Natalie falls apart Beck is left to pick up the pieces… and really your heart breaks for him as he slowly makes the dissent into drug addiction….

This book really is about much more than just addiction… it is about forgiveness, acceptance, love, and hope… it really makes you think and ask the hard questions, and face the realization that there are some things that are simply out of your control as a parent…. there were times in this book I really found it hard not to judge Natalie for her actions, but I had to remind myself I have never been through what she has… a broken family trying to put themselves together again after tragedy… A family that could be any family, it could be my family… it could be your family… that’s what made this book so powerful and so real!

This is just a well done book about a very big problem we have in our country… it is not a light fluffy beach read, but an important book that I strongly encourage you to pick up! An emotional heartbreaking journey that will leave you feeling hopeful…

The nurse grasps my arm, and I can’t stand anymore. My legs are tired and the adrenaline… it numbs me. I collapse beside her and she tries to hold me up, but she can’t… I’m on the ground.

My face is wet, when did I start crying?

“You have to save my son,” I beg her, my fingers curled into her arm. I stare into her eyes. Hers are green, ringed with blue, and she looks away. Something about her seems so familiar, something about those eyes.

“We’ll try, ma’am,” she says uncertainly. It’s the uncertainty that kills me. “We’ll do everything we can. I’m going to take you to a quiet room, and give you a blanket. Is there anyone I can call for you?”

I shake my head. “No. I already called my sister.”

“Okay,” the nurse says quietly and her name tag says Jessica. She takes me to a waiting room, a quiet private one, the ones they use when the outcome might not be good. I know that because I’ve been here before.

I swallow hard and she puts a cup of coffee in my hand.

As she does, she pushes a stray hair out of her face and her bracelet catches my eye. A simple chain with a silver dolphin on it. I’ve seen it before.

“You were here the night my husband was brought in,” I realize slowly. “Weren’t you? Do you remember me?”

It was a year ago. A year, two months… I check my watch… six days and twenty-two hours ago. Of course she doesn’t remember me.

But Jessica nods.

“I’m so sorry about your husband,” she tells me now, her voice quiet and thick. “I swear to you, we did everything we could.”

“I know,” I tell her. Because I do. The accident was so bad, there’s no way anyone could’ve survived. Except for Beck. He lived. But Matt...his injuries were insurmountable. That’s what the doctor told me that night.

5 Singing Stars🌟 The Accidentals by Sarina Bowen @SarinaBowen @katerudd #AudiobookReview

Happy hump day boys and girls!

I’m super happy to show you this beautiful YA book by the lovely Sarina Bowen.

If you like YA then this one is a must!

And just look at that gorgeousness that is the cover 😍

The Accidentals

The Accidentals by Sarina Bowen

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Accidental stars

Never ask a question unless you’re sure you want the truth.

I’ve been listening to my father sing for my whole life. I carry him in my pocket on my mp3 player. It’s just that we’ve never met face to face.

My mother would never tell me how I came to be, or why my rock star father and I have never met. I thought it was her only secret. I was wrong.

When she dies, he finally appears. Suddenly I have a first class ticket into my father’s exclusive world. A world I don’t want any part of – not at this cost.
Only three things keep me going: my a cappella singing group, a swoony blue-eyed boy named Jake, and the burning questions in my soul. There’s a secret shame that comes from being an unwanted child. It drags me down, and puts distance between me and the boy I love.

My father is the only one alive who knows my history. I need the truth, even if it scares me.

I listened to this bad boy all in one sitting, and i loved every single guitar picking second of it!

Rachel has always known that she had a famous father, her mother told her when she was very young, however she never told her any of the important information, like how they met, or stories about him.
The only thing she knew is that her father didn’t want her, and her mother didn’t like him, or men in general for that matter!

This unfortunately fuels Rachel’s fire and she uses this as a weapon against her mother by downloading all of his tracks, and putting posters of her father on her bedroom walls.

Rachel has never met, seen, or spoken to her father, but after her mother dies she has the chance of moving out of the Social Services children’s home, and moving in with her father, who turns up to meet, and claim her.

This story takes you on a roller-coaster of emotions, from the sweet grin that you give when she exchanges emails with Jake …….*swoon* to the fist pump in the air when she decides that maybe Freddie isn’t a complete douchebag after all!

I love the fact that Freddie didn’t turn into “superdad” all of a sudden and he had his fair share of f*ck ups, and i love the relationship between Haze & Rachel (Could be Hayes, not sure of spelling as on audio)

Considering this is the authors first step into YA she did a brilliant job made it seem like it’s her normal genre, for anyone that’s read any of Sarina Bowen’s other books you would know that it isn’t 😉

🎧🎧 Narrated by the always awesome and talented Kate Rudd, this book was brilliantly narrated and I would recommend it to anyone.

This one is well worth a credit get ready for those feels.

My Thoughts

5 Best Yet Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This is the third book in the detective Josie Quinn series and the best yet! Josie Quinn is being crowned my favorite female detective… Lisa Regan did a brilliant job with the character development of Josie… in the first book I liked her but I didn’t feel as though we really got to know her…in the second book we got to know her a little better, we got a little glimpse into her past, but we were still held at arms length… in this book WOW she was laid bare to us… we got multiple flashbacks of Josie from age 6 to 14 when she was abused almost to the point of being tortured by her mother… this part of the book was hard to read… it was very dark, very disturbing, yet very revealing and telling…. your heart broke for Josie and your respect grew for her….

This book starts out with 30 year old bones being discovered… when the identity of the body is revealed to be A young lady named Belinda Rose, Josie is confused… how can that be? That is her mother’s name and her mother was still alive…. so who is her mother really? And how is she connected to this body? Just as in the previous books in this series The layers of this mystery were peeled away at the perfect pace… leaving me frantically turning the pages to see what was going to happen next…. twist after twist that I did not see coming and an ending that surprised me and left me satisfied…

In my review for the second book in the series I asked Lisa Reagan to please let a little romance develop between Noah and Josie… and guess what? She listen to me!😂 I like the direction their relationship is headed in and I hope Noah can help Josie heal her heart… I cannot wait for the next book in this series… and I will let you in on a little something cool… Lisa Regan commented on my blog and the next book will reveal some of Gretchen’s secrets and it’s out in December!

In case you couldn’t figure it out from my gushing review I strongly encourage you to pick this book up and if you have the time binge the entire series over the weekend!

The Studying Hours (How to Date a Douchebag #1) by Sara Ney – @SaraNey @MuffyNewtown #JoshGoodman #Romance #NewAdult #LaughOutLoud

Happy Monday guys, I hope this weather stays for a little while longer, I’m loving not having to wear jumpers and a coat every day.

I have recently jumped in and become a Romance Package member of Audible and I’m using it to my full advantage! It’s like Kindle Unlimited for audios, and I’m LOVING it.

I picked up this little cracker and listened to it over the weekend.

⭐⭐⭐⭐·5 Cardigan Wearing Stars

No doubt about it, Sebastian ‘Oz’ Osborne is the university’s most celebrated student athlete—and possibly the biggest douchebag. A walking, talking cliché, he has a filthy mouth, a fantastic body, and doesn’t give a sh*t about what you or anyone else thinks.

Make no mistake, Jameson Clarke may be the university’s most diligent student—but she is no prude. Spending most of her time in the hallowed halls of the library, James is wary of pervs, jocks, and douchebags—and Oz Osborne is all three.

She’s smart, sarcastic—and not what he expected.

He wants to be friends.
He wants to spend time with her.
He wants to drive her crazy.

He wants…

⭐⭐⭐⭐·5 Cardigan Wearing Stars!

Jameson ‘James’ Clark is an exceptional student and works hard at it, she dresses in very conservative clothes, and wears pearls, but she is no prude!

Sebastian ‘Oz’ Osbourne is the darling of the high school, a wrestling champ, and the guy that all of the girls want to bang, which he takes full advantage of.

After a bet with his friends in the library to get “the prude” to kiss him, you would think that the story would turn into the usual girl swooning and turning into putty in his hands…….but nope!
James gives as good as she gets and makes him work for it.

I loved this story, loved the 2 of them together, loved the banter between them.

The angst and steam level between Oz and James is a slow burn, turning into an inferno!

The story is witty, funny and made me laugh all the way through.

🎧🎧 Narrated by Josh Goodman who is a new narrator for me, and Muffy Newtown who is just a narration goddess #VoiceCrush
These 2 narrators were perfect together, they bounced off of each other brilliantly.

Prepare for a bucket of laughter

5 BIG Stars🌟 All We Ever Wanted by Emily Giffin @emilygiffin #BookReview

Hope you’re having a lovely Sunday!

Excited to share my review with you today of this wonderful thought-provoking book, that I strongly encourage you not to miss!😍

All We Ever Wanted by Emily Giffin

My Thoughts

5 Thought Provoking Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This book is a MUST read! Not only was it absolutely brilliant it also touched on so many of today’s issues… it was a book that really made you think… what would I do in that situation? And as a single mother of two boys and a girl I could see so many sides of this story… and this book really made you realize that with social media a teenager’s reputation can be trashed in a matter of minutes…. makes you long for the good old days when you needed to make a trip to the local drugstore to get your pictures developed and your rash words were only ever read/heard by a handful of people…

One night, one thoughtless moment, and lives are changed forever… what do you do when your daughter has had her picture taken in a compromising position at a party and it is plastered all over social media? What do you do if it was your son that took this picture? Meet Tom single father of Lila the girl in the infamous picture and Nina the mother of Finch the photographer…. both parents instant reaction was to defend their children, as all of ours would be, but what is the right thing to do? Wow, this is tough! If I were Tom I’d want blood my heart would break for my daughter in that situation… but what would I do if I were Nina? What If it were one of my boys that took this picture? This was something that nagged at me throughout this entire book…. i’d like to think I do the right thing, I’d like to think my boys would never do something like this…. but how hard would it be to let your son ruin his life over one indiscretion?Ugh still have no idea what I would do, and fingers crossed I never need to figure it out!

This book was told from the perspectives of Nina, Tom, and Lila and I thought this was super effective…. all three characters were likable, relatable, and reel…. Nina was probably the most relatable character to me, because she was a mother… my heart broke for her what a horrible position to be in! But to Nina’s credit she handled the situation with intelligence, grace, and an open mind…. actually all three of these characters handled the situation in a very commendable manner… unfortunately not every character in this book did… it is always amazing that controversy can show people’s true colors….

Loved this book from first page to last and the ending was perfection… strongly encourage everyone to pick up this book and make sure you have a box of tissues nearby when you read it!

*** many thanks to Valentine Books for my copy of this wonderful book ***

About the Book

Nina Browning is living the good life after marrying into Nashville’s elite. More recently, her husband made a fortune selling his tech business, and their adored son has been accepted to Princeton. Yet sometimes the middle-class small-town girl in Nina wonders if she’s strayed from the person she once was.

Tom Volpe is a single dad working multiple jobs while struggling to raise his headstrong daughter, Lyla. His road has been lonely, long, and hard, but he finally starts to relax after Lyla earns a scholarship to Windsor Academy, Nashville’s most prestigious private school.

Amid so much wealth and privilege, Lyla doesn’t always fit in—and her overprotective father doesn’t help—but in most ways, she’s a typical teenage girl, happy and thriving.

Then, one photograph, snapped in a drunken moment at a party, changes everything. As the image spreads like wildfire, the Windsor community is instantly polarized, buzzing with controversy and assigning blame.

At the heart of the lies and scandal, Tom, Nina, and Lyla are forced together—all questioning their closest relationships, asking themselves who they really are, and searching for the courage to live a life of true meaning.

Have a lovely day! Berit☀️✨

The Smallest Part by Amy Harmon – @aharmon_author #AlmarieGuerra #AudioBookReview

Good morning everyone, it’s the weekend YAY!!

I’m super happy to review this absolutely gorgeous book by Amy Harmon, it is a little bit of everything 😍

The Smallest Part by Amy Harmon

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Beautiful Friendship Stars

“In the end, only three things matter. How much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you.”
– Unknown

It was a big lie. The biggest lie she’d ever told. It reverberated through her head as she said it, ringing eerily, and the girl behind her eyes—the girl who knew the truth—screamed, and her scream echoed along with the lie.

“Are you in love with Noah, Mercedes?” Cora asked. “I mean . . . I know you love him. You’ve been friends forever. We all have. But are you in love with him?”

If it had been anyone else—anyone—Mercedes would have stuck out her chest, folded her skinny arms, and let her feelings be known. She would have claimed him. But it was Cora. Brave, beautiful, broken Cora, and Cora loved Noah too.

So Mercedes lied.

And with that lie, she lost him. With that lie, she sealed her fate.

She was the best friend, the bridesmaid, the godmother, the glue. She was there for the good times and the bad, the ups and the downs, the biggest moments and the smallest parts. And she was there when it all came crashing down.

This is the tale of the girl who didn’t get the guy.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Beautiful Friendship Stars

Get ready to buckle yourseves in for this one guys it’s a feeler!

Gahhh it’s beautiful, Beautiful, BEAUTIFUL!!!

If you’ve ever read a book by Amy Harmon you will already know how her books affect you, however, if you haven’t, then you are in for a treat, and I guarantee that you will want to binge read everything she’s ever written.

This story follows three friends from childhood to adulthood, two of these friends got married to each other, the other friend was always in love with one of them, she was the loser!

Mercedes is the best friend anyone can ever have, she’s staunchly protective, brave, kind, beautiful and has a wonderful personality, she’s also in love with her best friend Noah.

Noah wants be a doctor when he grows up and loves spending time with his two best friends Mercedes and Cora.

Cora loves her two best friends, she doesn’t really know who she wants to be, so when Mercedes wants a kitten Cora gets a cat, when Mercedes says that she wants to be a beautician when she grows up, Cora wants to be one too, when Mercedes takes an interest in Noah, Cora decides to step in.
Mercedes being the kind of girl she is steps aside and lets her best friend marry the man of her dreams.

She’s the bridesmaid at the wedding and the godmother of their child and she’s also there when their two worlds come crashing down.

With a small cameo from one of Amy’s previous books which you do not have to have read, this book keeps you enthralled and wanting to be part of The Three Musketeers.

🎧🎧 Narrated by Almarie Guerra, a new narrator for me did an outstanding job all of the characters had their own voices and I believed every word she said.
I will certainly be looking out for other titles that she has narrated.

super excited to be part of the blog tour for this twisted psychological thriller! Many thanks to Noelle for making sure I was awake when she posted it so I could participate and to Barbara Copperthwaite for this brilliant book!😍

About the Book

She’ll do anything for you…

My name is Alex, and my world has been shattered.
My husband has left me.
My children won’t speak to me.
My friend Carrie is the only person I have.
She’s the only one I can trust to keep all my secrets.
She’d never do anything to let me down.
Would she?

This dark, gripping psychological thriller will have you holding your breath until the very last page. Fans of Behind Closed DoorsSometimes I Lie, and The Girl on the Train will be captivated.

My Thoughts

5 Perfect Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

“I lie to myself all The time. But I never believe me.“

This book was quite the ride! Two unreliable narrators for the price of one, got to love that! Barbara Copperthwaite how in the world do you come up with this stuff, this was crazy! Also how long did it take you to learn to spell that last name? that last name is crazy long! Do you ever look at somebody’s last name and think… thank goodness I did not need to learn to spell that in kindergarten… my last name has a total of four letters so I was lucky! Nobody can pronounce it, but it’s easy to spell… but I digress….

Alex and Carrie met at a support group… Alex has reached rock bottom her husband and children want nothing to do with her, and she has developed adult anorexia… Carrie has terminal cancer… Alex and Carrie form a bond a tight friendship… they rely on each other… they need each other… and they trust each other implicitly… sounds lovely, right? The problem… both Alex and Carrie have a little problem with telling the truth…. this is the true brilliance of this book… I did not believe a single word that came out of either of these girls mouths…. and I thoroughly enjoyed trying to unravel the puzzle of what was true and what was a lie….

This was a book that had you second-guessing everything… finding suspicion in everything… there were twists and turns and just when you thought you had it all figured out… not so fast… BAM that final twist!

Absolutely recommend to fans of a twisty psychological thriller with two seriously unreliable narrators🤥🤥

About the Author

Barbara is the Amazon and USA Today bestselling author of psychological thrillers INVISIBLE, FLOWERS FOR THE DEAD, THE DARKEST LIES, and HER LAST SECRET. Her latest book is THE PERFECT FRIEND.

More importantly, she loves cakes, wildlife photography and, last but definitely not least, her two dogs, Scamp and Buddy (who force her to throw tennis balls for them for hours).

Having spent over twenty years as a national newspaper and magazine journalist, Barbara has interviewed the real victims of crime – and also those who have carried those crimes out. She is fascinated by creating realistic, complex characters, and taking them apart before the readers’ eyes in order to discover just how much it takes to push a person over a line.

When not writing feverishly, she is often found hiding behind a camera, taking wildlife photographs.

The Downside of Love by Meghan Quinn @AuthorMegQuinn @InkSlingerPR #BookReview

The heat is on both outside and in this sizzling book!🔥

Thrilled to be part of the blog tour for the second book in this emotionally charged duology😍

This isn’t a story about a love triangle. There is no triangle involved.

This isn’t a story about an accidental pregnancy. Although having a baby with her . . . I would.

This isn’t a story about lies and deception, even though at times I’ve lied to myself.

No, this is my story.

A story about sacrifice.

A story about a man who fell in love with the wrong girl.

A story I wish I never had to tell.

This is a story about the true meaning of the downside of love.

My Thoughts

5Emotional Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Meghan Quinn what an emotional journey you have taken me on with this duology… The first book is an absolute must before you read this one…. in my review of the first book I compared the book to a plane flight that landed you in the wrong destination…. now this book starts with you at that incorrect destination… at first all you can think is… this is not where I want to be! But then you take a closer look and you see this location is different but beautiful as well…. The sun is shining, the waves are crashing, the drinks are flowing… so you decide to stay and see how it goes, perhaps this will be the best vacation you’ve ever had???

This book sure made me alter my expectations… i’m going to need to be very vague in this review, because the entire book is really a spoiler and I do not want to spoil this for you… just know this is a beautiful emotional story that will take your emotions on a rollercoaster ride…. you’ll find yourself wanting things to happen that you never thought you would… apparently Meghan Quinn knows better than we do….

This book had everything you want in a romance… fantastic characters… sizzling chemistry… and all the feels… this book will make your heart beat a little faster and set those butterflies off in your stomach… and the ending….. perfection! And the epilogue… ugh please tell me there is a follow up, please!

Absolutely recommend to fans of an emotionally filled love story that will leave you with a smile on your face and hope in your heart💕

Tucked away at the base of the Rocky Mountains lived a little boy with one singular dream: leave this broken and battered home and become someone.

Be somebody’s hero.

That boy was me—Colby Brooks. Except I’m not that same little boy anymore.

My dreams might still be the same, but my reality isn’t.

I’m smarter. Stronger. A man.

And I learned a long damn time ago, the only way to achieve my dreams was to avoid distractions—at any cost.

Focus. Resolve. Determination.

But all it took was one single night. One night and my entire life…changed.

One night had me colliding head first with the biggest distraction of my life; Rory Oaks.

Smart. Charming. Beautiful.

Rory changed everything.

Quickly, my one-track mind started to bend.

Each kiss faded decade-long dreams.

And with one single incident, I fly off course.

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if “It’s Raining Men” starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!
