The Fallen Girls by Kathryn Casey **Book Review** @bookouture

Happy Thursday!

This was a good start to a new police procedural series. But I’m not going to lie I had a hard time reading and then reviewing a police procedural with everything going on in the world especially here in the US. I don’t want to get political on this blog, but I just needed to be real with you.🖤 I also know it’s not the books fault, it was just bad timing.

My Thoughts

A clever police procedural. Kathryn Casey has written a smart and compelling story. Often I struggle with police procedurals, but not this one. I was completely invested from the creepy cornfields to the satisfying end. Clara is a police officer in Dallas, she is summoned home by her old crush Max to investigate the disappearance of her sister. But the folks and her family living in her small hometown are not excited to see Clara. Clara was raised in an isolated polygamist society in Utah and once she denounced her faith she was shunned. Now one of Clara’s many sisters, Delia is missing, and nobody is willing to talk. Where is Delia? And why did Clara leave this town years ago?

I have to say this book drew me in from the start. These creepy cornfields I could just feel and hear the wind running through the corn stocks. *shiver* The author did a really good job with creating a sense of place in this book. I found the structure of this polygamist society quite fascinating. Clara was a likable and interesting character and I’m looking forward to getting to know her better in future books. Max her old crush was a sweet guy and I’d love to see more of the two of them together. All in all this was a well done engaging start to a series.

About the Book

She didn’t notice the corn stalks shiver a few feet to her right. By the time she looked up, the man towered above her. In a single movement he wrapped one thick hand around her waist, the other he clamped over her mouth, muffling her screams.

Detective Clara Jefferies has spent years running from her childhood in Alber, Utah. But when she hears that her baby sister Delilah has disappeared, she knows that the peaceful community will be shattered, her family vulnerable, and that that she must face up to her past and go home.

Clara returns to find that her mother, Ardeth, has isolated her family by moving to the edge of town, in the shadow of the mountains. Ardeth refuses to talk to the police and won’t let Clara through the front door, believing she and her sister-wives can protect their own. But Clara knows better than anyone that her mother isn’t always capable of protecting her children.

When Clara finds out that two more girls have disappeared, all last seen around the cornfields near her family’s home, she realizes it’s not just Delilah who’s in danger. And then she gets a call that a body has been found…

Clara will have to dig deep into the town’s secrets if she’s going to find Delilah. But that will mean confronting the reason she left. And as she gets closer to Delilah, she might be putting her more at risk…

Gripping and spine-chilling, readers will love Detective Clara Jefferies, reading The Fallen Girls deep into the night. Fans of Kendra Elliot, Lisa Regan and Melinda Leigh won’t stop turning the pages of this unforgettable new series from bestselling and award-winning author Kathryn Casey.

The Bride by Wendy Clarke **Book Review** @bookouture

Happy Thursday all!

Hope you all are doing well! This was such a chilling and atmospheric story with a creepy vibe.🚨

My Thoughts

Chilling and twisted. Wendy Clarke has written an atmospheric and entertaining thriller. Alice has been made redundant from her job and now her live in boyfriend has informed her he has got another woman pregnant. When her old BFF Joanna reaches out after 10 years to tell her that she is engaged it couldn’t come at a better time. Alice is excited that they could possibly finally repair the friendship and she is in need of a change of scenery. When Alice arrives at Joanna‘s upscale apartment there is no Joanna just her fiancé Mark. Mark is charming and welcoming and informs Alice that Joanna is away attending a course, but why would Joanna invite Alice to visit when she wouldn’t be there? A spooky apartment building, a creepy Watchmen, a missing Bestie, a concerned fiancé, an angry stepson, Secrets, lies, twists, and turns.

This story had a definite creepy claustrophobic vibe to it. The setting of this upscale modern apartment building in the middle of this run down dark area with cranes and crumbling buildings was so vividly brought to the pages. I think this definitely brought a little extra something something to the story. The book does start out a bit slow, but it completely worked for me because it was such an atmospheric tale. Alice’s claustrophobic panic attacks were palpable. The second half of the story definitely ramped up in intensity and I was very surprised by the ending. And that epilogue?Wow!

About the Book

The moment Joanna told me she was engaged, I had this awful feeling that something was wrong.

We used to speak on the phone every day. Growing up I spent more time at her house than I did at my own. I’d always imagined what it would be like to see her get married, and now I didn’t even know her fiancé’s name.

She asked me to come and meet Mark and I intended to tell her to slow down. You can’t know someone for a month and be sure that you want to spend the rest of your lives together.

When I got to Joanna’s front door, only Mark was there. He was charming and gorgeous and nothing but nice to me, and I started to understand.

And then he told me that Joanna was missing.

The Bride is a twisty, unputdownable psychological thriller that will have you reading until late at night. Perfect for fans of The Girl on the Train, Gone Girl and anything by Lisa Jewell.

Into the Darkest Day by Kate Hewitt **Book Review** @bookouture

Happy weekend all!

I’ve been reading tons of uplifting feel good stories. So I knew I had to change gears a little bit because Kate Hewitt always hits me right in the heart and this book was no exception. A beautiful emotional story!

My Thoughts

Emotional and gripping. Kate Hewitt has once again hit me right in the heart with her evocative storytelling. London 1944 Lily meets charismatic American G.I. Mathew, at the same time that her sister meets another American G.I. Present day Wisconsin Abby is living a quiet life on her family’s apple farm navigating a difficult relationship with her father. When Simon an Englishman reaches out to her about a war metal that he wants to return to her as it belongs to her grandfather, Abby is confused and intrigued. When Abby and Simon meet up they find out that their families are somewhat entangled and have many secrets yet to be revealed. Two Beautiful stories woven together seamlessly.

Not going to lie I am very burned out on WWII stories, but when I saw that Kate Hewitt was the author of this one I couldn’t pass it up. She did a remarkable job of creating a sense of time and place throughout the story especially when it came to the WWII scenes. The tension was palpable in some of these wartime scenes, my heart was pounding and I seriously thought I could actually hear the bombs going off. I also learned about some aspects of the war that I had never heard about before. The present day story was equally compelling, I was very drawn to Abby. I found her so likable and sympathetic, I really wanted her to find some real happiness. Another emotional story from Kate Hewitt that touched my heart. One day one of your books will not make me shed some tears.

She had to step outside and hold the paper up to the moonlight to read it, but when she was able to make out the words, her heart felt as if it would drop right out of her chest. Because the message was in German.

1944, London:
When Lily meets enigmatic GI Matthew in war-torn London, she doesn’t expect to fall in love. While her sister starts a reckless affair with another GI, Lily tries to hide her growing feelings for Matthew.

But Matthew has a devastating secret. One that could change their lives forever.

Present day, USA:
Abby lives a quiet life on an apple farm in Wisconsin. Tormented by survivor’s guilt after the tragic deaths of her mother and brother, Abby leaves the orchards as little as possible, keeping her life small, peaceful and safe… Until she is contacted by Englishman Simon Elliot, who arrives nursing a heartbreak of his own, and bearing a World War Two medal that he claims belonged to Abby’s grandfather.

Together they begin to piece together the heartbreaking story of their relatives’ war. But as the story brings Abby and Simon closer—tentatively beginning to lean on one another to heal—they uncover a dark secret from the past.

And like Lily and Matthew nearly eighty years before them, it will make Abby and Simon question whether you can ever truly trust someone, even when they have your heart…

A heartbreakingly powerful, epic love story about courage, friendship and broken trusts, Into the Darkest Day is an unforgettable story perfect for fans of Nora Roberts, Kristin Hannah and The Notebook.

The Happy Couple by Samantha Hayes **Book Review** @bookouture

Happy Tuesday all!

Hope you are all doing well. This was one of those books that grab me from the first page I really was dying to find out what had happened.

My Thoughts

SO many questions that I needed the answers to. Samantha Hayes captured my attention in the first chapter and had me furiously turning the pages. Jo’s husband Will has been missing for over a year. Jo does not think he is dead or he left her for another woman, but she will not have closure until she finds out what has happened. Unable to MoveOn Jo Bestie Louise suggests she gets a job as a housesitter and takes a little bit of a vacation. When Jo is searching the housesitting website she runs across the unexplainable, pictures of her husband Will on a fireplace mantle in a home she’s never seen before. Of course Jo applies and gets the house sitting job and that’s where things start going sideways and get very strange. What followed was a pretty wild somewhat unbelievable ride.

This was an interesting book. I was seriously all in, totally invested, needed to know what in the world was going on. There were some fairly unbelievable things that happened and I was OK with that. But then at the end things got a little frantic (for lack of a better word) and it just didn’t work for me. A good story that had me completely hooked, but perhaps with a little too much of a twist.

About the Book

Me and Will. Will and Me. A perfect match. He said he would always be there for me, but it’s been a year since he drained his coffee, walked out the front door and vanished.

Did he leave me? Or did something terrible happen? I’m scared someone finally found out about what happened on the drive home that night…

I lie awake at night trawling the internet for rental properties, desperate for an escape. Until I see my husband’s gorgeous face smiling back at me from a photograph on the fireplace in someone else’s home, and something inside of me snaps.

At the house, I find no trace of him and the woman who lives there has no idea who I am. But I’m certain she’s hiding something behind the locked door upstairs. I know that if I want answers, I have to stay.

You might think that what’s inside that room is the answer to all my questions and the end of all my pain. But it’s only the beginning…

Nail-biting and completely gripping, The Happy Couple will make you question how well you really know the ones you love. Perfect reading for anyone who adored by The Wife Between UsThe Girl on The Train or Gone Girl.

Find Her Alive by Lisa Regan **Book Review** @bookouture

Happy Thursday all! It is Thursday right?

How are you all doing? Not going to lie I’m starting to go a little stir crazy! Thank goodness for Books and especially for addictive books like this one!🚨

My Thoughts

Guess who’s back, back again
Josie’s back, tell a friend.

If you have not read this series yet, what are you waiting for? Lisa Regan has brilliantly plotted each of the books in this series and this might just be the best one yet! Explosive, tense, smart, suspenseful, addictive. Crime thrillers with well-developed characters and clever storylines. Each book can be read as a standalone, but I strongly encourage you to read them all. Josie is such a great character and there’s so much growth in her throughout these books. Also each story offers you a glimpse into each of the secondary characters backstories. This book gives us an opportunity to learn a little more about Trinity (Josie’slong lost twin sister).

Josie has not had contact with her sister Trinity a popular morning news host for several weeks, not since they had a bit of a fall out. When Josie is not able to contact her by phone she decides to head to the cabin where she has been staying. When she gets there she finds Trinity‘s car and purse, but no Trinity. She also finds human bones laid out in an artistic manner. Who’s bones are these? And do they have anything to do with what Trinity was investigating before she went missing? Once again Josie finds herself investigating a dark crime where Time is of the essence. Loved playing detective and investigating right along side Josie and crew. All the usual characters helped Josie with the investigation, my favorites of course being Noah and Gretchen. We also get to know Josie‘s parents better in this book as well as her brother Patrick. The mystery was intelligent and I loved how it incorporated shorthand and symbolism. Another winner in this excellent series!

*** Big thank you to Bookouture for my gifted copy of this book. All opinions are my own. ***

About the Book

Josie treads gently, careful not to disturb the pile of perfect white bones laid out in the grass by her feet. Her voice is little more than a whisper.
“No! Not my sister…”

Detective Josie Quinn hasn’t heard from her sister since Trinity stormed out of the house in the heat of an argument three weeks ago. So, when human remains are found at the remote hunting cabin where Trinity was last seen, Josie can only assume the worst.

Gathering her team, Josie feels a surge of relief when the dental records match a different body – that of a missing single mother from a neighboring town. But now Josie’s is not the only broken family desperate for answers.

Dusting the crime scene for prints, a name smudged into the side of a nearby car is the first in a trail of clues Trinity left for Josie. In need of a big story to save her journalism career, it seems Josie’s sister was attempting to make contact with a dangerous serial killer known for creating sculptures with his victim’s bones. And Trinity won’t stop until she’s found him, even if it means becoming his next masterpiece…

Josie is certain there’s a critical clue in the ivory hair comb delivered to Trinity just days before she went missing. But as more bones surface, each set more likely to be Trinity’s than the last, time is running out to find her alive. Can Josie’s team trust her instincts in a case that is so deeply personal? Can she find her sister without putting other innocent lives in danger?

An unputdownable crime thriller from an Amazon, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author that will have you sleeping with the light on. This gripping rollercoaster ride is perfect for fans of Angela Marsons, Robert Dugoni and Rachel Caine. Prepare to be totally hooked!

After the Accident by Kerry Wilkinson **Book Review** @bookouture

Happy Thursday all!

Hope life is treating you well! This book was the perfect little break from the current craziness and the sombering news.🍹

My Thoughts

Clever, compelling, creative. Kerry Wilkinson has crafted a fresh story with a unique construct. The story was told in an interview style reminiscent of a documentary. I started this book in print and then I thought I go see if there was an audio version. I have to admit for me this worked a lot better on audio. It is narrated by multiple narrators and it was really like listening to a really well-done crime podcast. Kerry Wilkinson narrates A small part of the story, it was nice to hear his voice. I’ve read a few reviews that allude to this being based on a true story? I can’t find any information that would back this up, but it definitely reads as one. Dysfunction, deception, secrets, and lies.

Emma finds herself on a family vacation for the first time in years. She is there with her parents, her brother and his twin daughters, her fathers business partner and his wife, and his son and his wife. Emma has a past that people refer to, but you do not find out about it until later in the book. When Emma‘s father Jeff is found having fallen from a cliff (not dead, but in need of serious medical attention) Emma is the prime suspect. But Emma is adamant about her innocence and wonders if this has anything to do with a similar accident involving her father’s ex business partner resulting in his death many years ago. I really loved how the story was constructed. I was suspicious of every character and did not trust what any of them had to say. Well that is a lie, I did trust the twins Chloe and Amy(sort of). I found Emma to be the most likable of the characters. This could be because she was the primary focus, but I really did not want her to be the guilty party. An entertaining tale with a welcome twist. I don’t generally like to compare books, but this book reminded me of Daisy Jones in structure, but the story was entirely different. Strongly encourage you to do this one on audio, if that’s your thing.

About the BookUnder a cloudless Mediterranean sky, two families wheel their suitcases past swaying palm trees towards their hotel to grab a spot by the pool. But behind the smiles, someone is hiding a terrible secret…

I never wanted to come on this trip. I thought the accident had torn us apart forever, but then my mother called out of the blue, wanting to make amends. So here we are, two families on a beautiful island, sipping sangria like nothing ever happened.

My parents’ oldest friend, Daniel, was invited too – I’ve never trusted him, and now he brings up my past mistake every chance he gets. And why does his son, Victor, keep disappearing off on his own?

Even my brother’s here, with his twins. It’s amazing to see my nieces playing happily in the pool. After what happened at home, it still hurts me to be around the girls, but more so that my brother doesn’t trust me alone with them.

Despite everything, it’s going surprisingly well – everyone forcing a smile at the dinner table, laughing at the twins’ antics – until the night my father is attacked on the beach, left for dead on the sand.

As always, all fingers point to me, but this time I know for certain that I’m innocent. And if I’m not guilty, someone else on this holiday is…

A unique and totally gripping psychological thriller that will have fans of T.M. Logan and The Girl on the Train racing through the pages late into the night.

The Lilac House by Barbara Jesselsohn **Book Review** @bookouture

Happy Friday all!

“May you not live in interesting times”. I don’t know how things are going where you are, but it has gotten a little crazy here! No toilet paper, no water, no sanitizer, no NBA, no MLB, no Coachella, no Disneyland. You need a sweet little escape read and this book is perfect for that!🌸

My Thoughts

This was a sweet small town story of family, second chances, and moving on. I would classify this as women’s fiction with a splash of romance rather than a true romance, but for me that worked just fine. I loved the small town of Summers Lake; The quaint shops and the quirky residence. Anna returns to her summer home in Somers Lake for the first time after the death of her husband Greg. Convinced that this is the last summer the family will spend in this small town and determined to make it as normal as possible for her two children. Anna’s aunt Hope has just opened a dance studio/boutique in the same small town and is hoping she can change Anna’s mind. Just as Anna starts to think she has completely made a mistake by returning to Summers Lake she meets Aiden. Aidan is also suffering from his own loss. Handsome, strong, silent, and hiding a secret of his own. I am certain you know where this is going. But the journey was filled with much more depth and emotion than I was anticipating.

I really liked Anna and felt for her as she tried to navigate this tough situation with her children. I thought the portrayal of grief was very raw and realistic. I loved the inclusion of Aunt Hope to the story. Especially loved the dance shop and all the little ballet tidbits. I’d venture to guess the author danced at some point in her life or had a child who danced (my daughter danced for many years competitively and all this brought back memories of that time). Aidan was a good guy and a good father. I was trying to figure out what he could have possibly done that was so bad that he was pretty much in hiding. That leads me to what I thought was the weakest (for lack of a better word) part of the story. There were a lot of so-called secrets and big reveals and I wasn’t always convinced that they were as big of a deal as they were made to be. I think people were a little underestimated when it came to some of the things in the story. In spite of this I really enjoyed the story. The setting was delightful, the characters were enchanting, it left me smiling and wanting a smoothie.

About the Book

Can one summer house bring two broken hearts together?

Summer escapes to Lilac House have always been a source of comfort for Anna Harris. Though things will never be the same since her husband’s death, she knows that it is there, nestled in Lake Summers in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains, that she and her children Zac and Evie can begin to build a new life.

The house is just as beautiful as Anna remembers, and caught up in the rhythm of small town life, helping her Aunt Hope run the little shop on Main Street, Anna begins to feel a sense of herself she hasn’t felt in years. Then she meets Aidan. Handsome, strong and quiet, he also knows what’s it’s like to lose someone. In each other they recognise something they’ve both been missing and they feel a spark.

But Aidan’s past holds a different set of complications. He’s hiding a secret about why he came to Lake Summers. And just as the Lilac House finally starts to feel like home, Anna learns something devastating about Greg’s death that makes her question everything…

The summer might have brought Anna and Aidan together, but can Anna finally let go of the past now she really has the chance for a new beginning?

A beautiful story about moving on and finding yourself, The Lilac House will restore your faith in love and teach you that it’s never too late the find the person who will change your life. For fans of Carolyn Brown, Jenny Hale and Mary Alice Monroe.

The Man I Loved Before by Anna Mansell **Book Review** @bookouture

Happy Wednesday all

This was such a unique story filled with heart and healing.❤️

My Thoughts

An emotional and unique story filled with heart and healing. This book gave me all the feels: I laughed, I cried, I got frustrated, I cringed, I rolled my eyes, I smiled, and I shrugged my shoulders. Jem’s Life is a bit of a mess she lost the love of her life, her job, her house, filed for bankruptcy, and worst of all her mom is fighting cancer. Just as it looks as though Jem’s Life might turn around her mother meaning well sends a letter off to her ex Ben. This was a letter that Jem wrote for her own closure, a letter never meant to be seen, a letter that disclosed some pretty deep secrets that Ben was not aware of. What follows is a complicated story of hope, humor, sentiment, and sorrow.

Jem was a very likable and relatable character. I really liked her sense of humor and her strong friendship with Leanne. I really wasn’t sure what to make of the men in her life. Ben seemed to have moved on and Mitch there just seem to be something off about him. This really wasn’t a love triangle though, because there is a clear choice, you just never are sure that things are going to work out that way. The most important bond of this book however was that of Jem and her mother. Her mom really was such a treasure and I loved how supportive they were of one another. This book really does deal with some serious issues and I think they were handled well. I wish however that Jem’s alcoholism was addressed a little more thoroughly, I think it would have been a bit of a tougher battle for her to quit drinking. But there was a lot going on in the story and I think it ended on the perfect satisfying note.

*** Big thank you to Bookouture for my gifted copy of this book. All opinions are my own. ***

About the Book

‘Dear Ben, I can only write you this letter because I know you’ll never read it…’

When Jem writes to her ex Ben, it’s to explain everything. All the secrets she kept from him – from the little lies she’d sometimes tell about how new those shoes really were, or how many glasses of wine she’d had that evening… right up to The Big Thing that happened on the night that changed everything. But she never expects he will actually see what she’s written.

She is just writing because she thinks it will help to get the words out. Later, she resolves, she’ll burn the letter, and then the past will be in the past for good.

Because Jem is doing fine now. She’s busy: working, spending time with her best friend, and looking after her mother, who’s in remission from cancer. She’s even dating again and has just met a guy who she thinks she could actually fall for. At long last, Jem is really, definitely somewhere close to happy.

But her mum finds the letter and thinks she’s doing Jem a favour when she posts it to Ben. And Jem’s new, carefully rebuilt life begins to unravel in ways she could never have imagined. Then, when her mother gets ill again, she finds herself asking who has the key to her future. The man she’s falling in love with now? Or the man she loved before?

A heartbreaking, beautifully honest novel that will stay with readers long after they finish it. Perfect for fans of Diane Chamberlain, Amanda Prowse, and Susan Lewis.

About the Author

Anna had a brush with ‘fame’ as a magician’s assistant back in 1977. She later decided that being sawn in half by her magical performing father, at barely 6 months old, was too submissive a role. She vowed to channel the trauma into something much more pro-actively creative. Having failed at acting, singing and professional murder mystery parties (she was ALWAYs the one to die!), she fell to something much more solitary: writing. Anna lives on a dairy farm in Cornwall with her two children, her husband, and her ex-racing greyhound, Olive Dog.

This was such a crazy story! Clare Boyd sure can spin a wild tale!🌸

My Thoughts

Well… that was nuts! I’m not even quite certain how to process it all quite yet. Clare Boyd you sure do know how to spin a wild crazy ass story. A book filled with unreliable, unlikable, unhinged characters. This book kept me on the edge as my loyalties bounced between characters. I had no idea who to trust and if I’m being honest I still don’t! Told in third person from the alternating perspectives of wife Elizabeth and girl next-door Heather. Elizabeth is living her life walking on eggshells trying to prove to her husband Lucas that she is a worthy mother and wife. Heather has returned home to help out her parents and seeing Lucas Sparks her childhood crush. What follows is a story of miss direction, miss trust, deception, manipulation, secrets, and lies.

Neither Elizabeth or Heather were tremendously likable or sympathetic characters. Elizabeth clearly has major issues in her marriage to Lucas, but is it real or is it all in her head? Is Heather a femme fatale or a naïve girl? And is Lucas really a good guy or a manipulative predator? Not to mention Heather‘s father, what is up with him? My head was spinning throughout the story I didn’t know what was what. The story kept zigging and zagging twisting and turning until it came to a satisfying conclusion.

About the Book

I finally have everything I ever wanted. A home with floor-to-ceiling windows, a devoted husband who dazzles everyone he meets, and two angelic children I adore. But as I watch my husband chatting with the girl next door, I wonder if anyone can see the sadness in my pretty pink smile, or hear the scream behind my straight white teeth?

I know I’m crazy to think there’s a hint of desire in his eyes.

I know it’s madness to see a flicker of fear in hers.

I know all this, because I’ve been wrong before.

And if I’m wrong again, he’ll try to take my children away.

The party is my last chance to prove to my husband that I’m on the mend, that I can handle something as simple as a drinks reception without snapping under the pressure. It’s all going perfectly, until I see something in the swimming pool that changes everything. But if I can’t trust myself to believe it’s real, who will?

A totally unputdownable page-turner about the darker side of love and what really goes on under the surface of perfect-looking lives. Clever and unexpected, this book will have you gripped from the very first page until the dramatic final twist. Fans of The Wife Between Us and The Mother-in-Law will be hooked.

The Magnollia Sisters by Alys Murray **Book Review** @bookouture

TGIF!

So ready for the weekend! This was such a sweet small-town romance with such a gorgeous setting!🌷

My Thoughts

A sweet small town love story. Flowers, family, friendship… This was a fun feel good enemies to lovers romance with a gorgeous flowery setting. Harper enjoys her small-town life working aside her sisters on the family flower farm. When Luke blows into town prepared to do whatever it takes to give his little sister Annie the perfect wedding he and Harper immediately clash. Annie wants to get married on the farm, but Harper immediately gives this idea the kibosh. No amount of money good make up for the disruption to the farm that this would cause. Luke however is not deterred and strikes a deal with Harper‘s father that he will work the farm in order to offset the anticipated disruption. What follows is a sweet story of push and pull, give and take, filled with fun and banter.

This was an easy breezy delightful read. I loved the beautiful setting and the strong family ties. Loved Harper’s bond with her sisters and Luke and his little sister Annie’s bond as well. I also loved the friendship that develop between Harper and Annie. However I have to say Annie seems like a very reasonable person that probably would be OK if big brother Luke told her she could not have her wedding on this farm. I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent with these characters and I am hoping that there will be more in store for us from them.

About the Book

Harper Anderson has a to-do list longer than the Colorado river, and fields of tulips to tend to at her family’s flower farm in Hillsboro County, California. It’s her dream to run the business with her sisters when their father retires, keeping up traditions that began with her great-great-grandmother.

That is, if there’s a farm left to run. Rich out-of-towners looking for a slice of country living are hiking up the prices in town and it’s putting her family out of business. So she has no time for the arrogant LA tech mogul who makes her an offer to use their farm as his sister’s wedding venue. No amount of money could make up for the destruction it would wreak on next season’s crop. The sooner Luke Martin is on his way, the better.

But Luke isn’t willing to go. He’s been looking out for his sister ever since their deadbeat parents left them to fend for themselves, and he’ll do whatever it takes to make her happy. So when Harper’s newest farmhand leaves her in the lurch, he sees an opportunity to strike a deal. He’ll work on the farm for free if she’ll give him the chance to change her mind.

Harper and Luke each expect the other to crack first. What they don’t expect is the chemistry that sparks between them as they work side by side among the budding roses. But Luke’s presence is turning over more than the earth, and just as Harper is starting to let her guard down, he stumbles upon a secret that could spell disaster for the entire Anderson clan.

With her family’s happiness at stake, can Harper put her trust in a man who is worlds apart from everything she knows?

An emotional, spellbinding story about family, first impressions and the transformative power of love. Fans of Susan Mallery, Debbie Macomber and Carolyn Brown will be carried away by The Magnolia Sisters.
