The Line Between by Tosca Lee @ToscaLee @HowardBooks #bookbestieslinebetween #bookreview

Happy Tuesday bibliophiles!

Excited to share with you my review for this exciting book! This is not my normal genre I guess this would be called pre-apocalyptic fiction? Is there such a thing as this? Anyways it was quite the thrilling story and I am so happy to have read it! This was a group read With my Besties and we all thoroughly enjoyed it!🖤

The Line Between by Tosca Lee

My Thoughts

Wowza this was quite the unexpected gem of a pre-apocalyptic story!

This is not my usual reading genre, but boil boy this book sucked me in from the very first page! Tosca Lee thread together a remarkable story… an intense pre-apocalyptic story laced with a generous amount of thrills and romance… this is such a well written book that I think will appeal to a wide audience of readers!

Wynter grew up in the compound of the New Earth doomsday post apocalyptic cult… as she grew up she began to question things including the teachings of the leader of the cult Magnus… this leads to her eventually being cast out, only to find that the outside world is going a bit mad…. there is an epidemic sweeping the US the spreading of early onset dementia, and there appears to be no cure in sight…. when Wynter’s sister shows up at her door with a case filled with vials of a potential cure… Wynter soon finds herself on the road to Colorado with the possible fate of the world in her hands…..

Wynter was so smart and so strong and yet she had such a naïveté to her… she is one of those characters that will get under your skin and who you won’t soon forget, there was just something so beautiful and comforting about her inner strength… for some reason I never doubted that this girl who grew up extremely sheltered could manage to make it from Chicago to Colorado in dire circumstances…. admittedly though it was very fortunate that she ran across X military XMMA fighter Chase along the way… Chase was another strong smart character who definitely reassured me… The strength and charisma of these characters really set the tone for the story and I think that’s what I really was drawn to… I felt as though the thread running throughout the story was that of hope rather than doom… this book was uplifting rather than depressing, and that’s not something I often find in books of this genre… add in a plot that will keep you riveted and a sprinkling of romance… and you’ve got yourself one stellar story!

An addictive pre-apocalyptic thriller full of some pretty amazing characters and a generous peppering of hope! Absolutely recommend!

🎵🎵🎵 song running through my head! If you have read this book you will know why I chose this one, this was a song that ran through Wynter’s head…

There’s somethin’ wrong with the world today

I don’t know what it is

Something’s wrong with our eyes

We’re seein’ things in a different way

And God knows it ain’t his

It sure ain’t no surprise

Livin’ on the edge

Livin’ on the edge

Livin’ on the edge

Livin’ on the edge

There’s somethin’ wrong with the world today

The light bulb’s gettin dim

There’s meltdown in the sky

If you can judge a wise man

By the color of his skin

Then mister you’re a better man than I

Livin’ on the edge

You can’t help yourself from fallin’

Livin’ on the edge

You can’t help yourself at all

Livin’ on the edge

You can’t stop yourself from fallin’

Livin’ on the edge (everybody, everybody)

Tell me what you think about your situation

Complication, aggravation is getting to you

If chicken…

About the Book

In this frighteningly believable thriller from New York Times bestselling author Tosca Lee, an extinct disease re-emerges from the melting Alaskan permafrost to cause madness in its victims. For recent apocalyptic cult escapee Wynter Roth, it’s the end she’d always been told was coming.

When Wynter Roth is turned out of New Earth, a self-contained doomsday cult on the American prairie, she emerges into a world poised on the brink of madness as a mysterious outbreak of rapid early onset dementia spreads across the nation.

As Wynter struggles to start over in a world she’s been taught to regard as evil, she finds herself face-to-face with the apocalypse she’s feared all her life—until the night her sister shows up at her doorstep with a set of medical samples. That night, Wynter learns there’s something far more sinister at play and that these samples are key to understanding the disease.

Now, as the power grid fails and the nation descends into chaos, Wynter must find a way to get the samples to a lab in Colorado. Uncertain who to trust, she takes up with former military man Chase Miller, who has his own reasons for wanting to get close to the samples in her possession, and to Wynter herself.

Filled with action, conspiracy, romance, and questions of whom—and what—to believe, THE LINE BETWEEN is a high-octane story of survival and love in a world on the brink of madness.

99 Percent Mine by Sally Thorne @WMMorrowBooks @HarperAudio #bookreview #audiobooks

Happy Monday bibliophiles!

I am so excited to share with you my review for this wonderful book! An addictive emotional romance that is 100% fabulous!💕💕

  • 99 Percent Mine

  • A Novel
  • By: Sally Thorne
  • Narrated by: Jayme Mattler
  • Length: 11 hrs and 23 mins
  • Unabridged Audiobook
  • Release date: 01-29-19
  • Language: English
  • Publisher: HarperAudio

My Thoughts

An edgy emotional exquisite romance! This book was 100% eXCEPTIONAL!

Sally Thorne is such a wonderful storyteller! She has woven together an emotional story guaranteed to tug at your heartstrings! I absolutely loved “The Hating Game,“ and when I picked this up I was expecting the same fun funny banter I got in that book…. I did get the same outstanding banter, however this book is a little darker, a little edgier, and a lot more angsty… this book definitely put my heart through the ringer! I wouldn’t say this book is better or worse than THG it is just… different….. however what I loved about THG is absolutely in this book as well… wonderful storytelling, amazing well drawn characters, and fabulous dialogue!

Darcy returns home after her beloved grandmother passes away, leaving her house to her… The house is in need of some major renovation, so Darcy is going to stay in town until the paint dries and she is able to sell the house…. The girl has some major wanderlust and is just itching to get on that next plane headed to adventurous anywhere…. BUT one day she arrives home to find Tom on her front porch, and he is the contractor who has been hired to renovate the house… Tom is the only man who has ever really got a hold of Darcy’s heart, the problem… he is engaged and he is also her twin brothers BFF… to complicate things further Jamie, Darcy’s twin and her are not quite seeing eye to eye on this house renovation….

I do love the friends to lovers trope… and in this book it was done so cleverly end it was oh so complicated! The push and pull between Tom and Darcy was so compelling…. Darcy was a wonderful character, even though I didn’t warm up to her immediately… she was a little prickly and definitely has her guard up, but she was also snarky, smart, strong, and loyal… Tom, I have to admit in my younger days I would’ve found him a little boring or bland, but now that I’m older and no better he was a really nice guy that had a heart of gold, that any woman would be lucky to call their own… he really had very few rough edges, what you see is what you get with him, and what I saw in my mind I definitely liked! The chemistry between these two was off the charts, and when things heated up they hit the boiling point… my only little tiny complaint would be I would’ve liked a little more of these two in the past, maybe some more interaction between them when they were younger, so I could really see where all this angst and lust and longing and love was coming from….

An extremely well told romance, full of engaging characters, witty banter, and sizzling chemistry! Absolutely recommend!

🎧🎧🎧 this book was narrated by Jayme Mattler, she did an amazing job! What I love so much about audio is how much it really brings the characters to life, and Jayme really nailed it in this book! She was Darcy just as much as she was Tom….

🎵🎵🎵 song running through my head! Oh I love this song and it really expressed some of my frustration with these characters during this book!

“Say something, I’m giving up on you

I’ll be the one, if you want me to

Anywhere, I would’ve followed you

Say something, I’m giving up on you

And I am feeling so small

It was over my head

I know nothing at all

And I will stumble and fall

I’m still learning to love

Just starting to crawl

Say something, I’m giving up on you

I’m sorry that I couldn’t get to you

Anywhere, I would’ve followed you

Say something, I’m giving up on you

And I will swallow my pride

You’re the one that I love

And I’m…”

About the Book

Crush: a strong and often short-lived infatuation, particularly for someone beyond your reach…

Darcy Barrett has undertaken a global survey of men. She’s travelled the world, and can categorically say that no one measures up to Tom Valeska, whose only flaw is that Darcy’s twin brother Jamie saw him first and claimed him forever as his best friend. Despite Darcy’s best efforts, Tom’s off limits and loyal to her brother, 99%. That’s the problem with finding her dream man at age eight and peaking in her photography career at age twenty—ever since, she’s had to learn to settle for good enough.

When Darcy and Jamie inherit a tumble-down cottage from their grandmother, they’re left with strict instructions to bring it back to its former glory and sell the property. Darcy plans to be in an aisle seat halfway across the ocean as soon as the renovations start, but before she can cut and run, she finds a familiar face on her porch: house-flipper extraordinaire Tom’s arrived, he’s bearing power tools, and he’s single for the first time in almost a decade.

Suddenly Darcy’s considering sticking around to make sure her twin doesn’t ruin the cottage’s inherent magic with his penchant for grey and chrome. She’s definitely not staying because of her new business partner’s tight t-shirts, or that perfect face that’s inspiring her to pick up her camera again. Soon sparks are flying—and it’s not the faulty wiring. It turns out one percent of Tom’s heart might not be enough for Darcy anymore. This time around, she’s switching things up. She’s going to make Tom Valeska 99 percent hers.

Life or Death by Chris Merritt @DrCJMerritt @bookouture #bookreview

Happy Wednesday all!

Busy day, on the blog today! Another fabulous book that I’m thrilled to share with you! Big thanks to Noelle for my invitation and Kris Meritt for the spectacular book!🚨

My Thoughts

A compulsive heart pounding installment in this fantastic police procedural series!

Zac is back and better than ever! This is the third book in the DI Zac Boateng series and in my humble opinion the best so far! Chris Merritt’s writing is so gripping he makes it impossible for you to put the book down! So make sure you have a few hours free before you pick this one up!

Zac is such a real and likable character and in this book my heart just broke for him…. five years ago Zac’s daughter Amelia was murdered, it is his mission to put all those responsible behind bars…. after a shoot out an informant appears to have the answers, but answers lead to more questions and more tragedy… this time not only is Zac seeking justice for his daughter, but he is also trying to rescue his son from a kidnapper…. this book had me shaking my head as I was trying to figure out what was going on and how so much can happen to such a nice guy… seriously how much can one man take before he snaps? I liked how significant a part Kat played in this book… I like that Zac has so much support both at home and on the job…

An intriguing story filled with twists and turns and plenty of action that will keep you on your toes! Recommend!

*** many thanks to Bookouture for my copy of this book ***

One Fatal Mistake by Tom Hunt @TomHuntWriter @BerkleyPub #bookbestiesonefatalmistake #bookreview

Happy Tuesday bibliophiles!

Excited to share with you today my review for this fast paced thriller that will keep you glued to those pages! This was a group read with my Besties, and we were all riveted by this addictive read!💕

Available February 5, 2019

One Fatal Mistake by Tom Hunt

My Thoughts

An addictive fast paced read that will keep you glued to those pages!

How far would you go to protect your child? A tragic accident… a fatal mistake… a lie… a cover up… A BIG hot mess!

This book was packed full of nonstop action from first page to last… josh was involved in a tragic accident that led to the death of a man… in the process of covering it up Josh and his mom Karen run into Ross and Amber… Ross and Amber have just robbed a bank and are on the run… after Josh and Karen’s lives clash with Ross and Amber things go sideways, in a big way! Not going to go into the plot more, just know it is one wild and crazy ride….

This was such an entertaining read, but it also gave you some food for thought… Karen was a wonderful character and a definite loving mother, but… did she do the right thing? And in this situation is there a right thing? Would you help your child bury the body, literally or figuratively? I really have no idea what I would have done in Karen’s situation, and hopefully I will never need to know! Such a fun twisty story that definitely kept me engaged throughout! A book full of likable characters making some pretty bad decisions! It definitely showed you how one mistake, one lie, can lead to so much tragedy….

A nonstop thrilling thriller that will make your heart beat a little bit faster and make you need to catch your breath! Absolutely recommend!

🎵 Music running through my head! This song kept going through my head, because of Ross and Amber being on the run, and wanted dead or alive!

“It’s all the same, only the names will change

Everyday, it seems we’re wastin’ away

Another place where the faces are so cold

I drive all night just to get back home

I’m a cowboy, on a steel horse I ride

I’m wanted dead or alive”

About the Book

The author of Killer Choice, a thriller “full of shocks and twists you won’t see coming” (Lee Child), delivers a nail-biting novel about a hit and run, and a lie that goes horribly wrong…

Her son accidentally kills a man.

When eighteen-year-old Joshua Mayo takes a man’s life in a horrible accident, he leaves the scene without reporting the crime to the police. He hopes to put the awful night behind him and move on with his life. But, of course, he ends up telling his mother, Karen, what happened.

Karen has raised Joshua on her own in Cedar Rapids, Iowa–and she’d thought they’d finally made it. He was doing well in school and was only months from starting college. After hearing his dark confession, she is forced to make a choice no parent should have to make, one that draws them both into a web of deceit that will change their lives forever–if they make it out alive….

Second Chance at the Ranch by Maxine Morrey @Scribbler_Maxi @rararesources #bookreview #giveaway

Happy Monday and happy Martin Luther King day!

Thrilled to share my review for this book all about second chances and reinventing yourself! Big thanks to Rachel for my invitation to the tour, and to Maxine Morrey for her delightful story!💛

Second Chance At The Ranch

It’s never too late for a second chance at love in this uplifting and warm-hearted romance.

It’s never too late to find love…

When Juliet Scott falls for ruggedly handsome Pete while away travelling, she never imagines how different her life will be to that of her sister, successful and beautiful model Hero. Based on a cattle station in the vast Australian Outback, Juliet’s life is now simple, down-to earth and honest, and the perfect antidote to the chaotic celebrity lifestyle that Hero leads in the UK.

With her striking brunette hair, perfect posture, and mesmerising green eyes, it is no wonder Hero has come so far in such a superficial industry. But when tragedy strikes, Hero finds herself in the arms of her sister, recuperating from a terrible accident on the other side of the world.

With her modelling career in tatters, and her scars more than just skin deep, Juliet worries that Hero will hide behind the mask she wears forever. But does Australia have something, or someone, to offer that London never could?

My Thoughts

A sweet Romance about life’s second chances and reinventing yourself!

An engaging love story set in rural Australia… A book full of heart, hope, family, and lots and lots of angst… I can be a bit of a drama queen myself so I do love some good old fashion drama in my books!

Juliet and Hero are sisters and have always been close… however, Juliet is now living in Australia after falling in love with Pete… meanwhile hero is busy being a famous supermodel in the UK…. when tragedy strikes Hero finds herself heading to stay with her sister in Australia to heal her scars, inside and out… never did she ever think she would be drawn to such an isolated area or fall in love… but can Hero’s frozen heart be thawed?

I really liked Juliet and her romance with Pete was very very sweet! Hero on the other hand took a while for me to warm up to… she was very cold and distant and it was hard to believe she was the sister of Juliet…. but as different as the sisters were, they were really there for one another and the bond between them appeared to be unbreakable…. Hero and Nick’s love story was very… will they won’t they? Boy oh boy did both of these characters have some major issues and baggage…. a Romance filled with drama and frustration…

A wonderfully told romance filled with engaging characters and a beautiful setting! Recommend!

🎵 Music running through my mind, this song was running through my mind for obvious reasons! Hero is a great name, but I think if that was my name I’d feel a lot of responsibility to live up to its meaning!

… Where have all the good men gone

And where are all the gods?

Where’s the streetwise Hercules to fight the rising odds?

Isn’t there a white knight upon a fiery steed?

Late at night I toss and I turn

And I dream of what I need

… I need a hero

Maxine has wanted to be a writer for as long as she can remember and wrote her first (very short) book for school when she was ten.

As time went by, she continued to write, but ‘normal’ work often got in the way. She has written articles on a variety of subjects, as well as a local history book on Brighton. However, novels are her first love.

Her Pretty Bones by Carla Kovach @CKovachAuthor @bookouture #bookreview #audiobook

Happy Sunday bibliophiles!

Excited to share with you today my review for the third book in the brilliant Gina Hart series! Big thanks to Noelle for my invitation and to Carla Kovach for her wonderful story!🚨

My Thoughts

Redheads beware! You’re just the girl he’s looking for!

This was a gripping dark and twisted police procedural… The third book in the DI Gina Hart series and just as engaging as the previous two… even though I have read the previous books I do believe this can absolutely be read as a standalone…. but I’m going to bet that after you read this one you will want to go back and read the previous two!

A young girl’s body falls out of the back of a van, she is rushed to the hospital and her last words are, “help her!” A couple days later and a couple miles away a young girl’s body is found in a shallow grave… what these girls had in common their age, their emaciated bodies, and their hair color, red… Gina who just had an argument with her own daughter, is more determined than ever to solve this horrendous case….

I really liked how Gina and Company worked this case… I also liked how we got multiple perspectives including that of another young girl and potential next victim as well as a mother whose daughter was missing… I think the additional perspectives really added a layer of authenticity and terror to the story…. The mystery was full of the perfect amount of twists and turns and red herrings…. my one little niggle with the series is we don’t necessarily get to know Gina quite as much as I would like… we get a little glimpse, but I really would love to get to know this character better!

🎧🎧🎧 Audio Narration:

Tamsin Kennard made this British crime thriller even more British, that’s a good thing! I read the previous two books in the series so listening to the audio was a new experience and it definitely enriched the story for me…Tamsin has a beautiful English accent, much better than the one that runs through my head, she also added a little more of a feminine hand to Gina, and I really like that! She also did a really good job with the male voices, always a bonus! A audiobook narrator that adds another dimension to the story cannot be beat, if you are an audiobook person I’d pick this one up!

An engaging twisted crime thriller that will wake your inner detective! Recommended!

🎵 Music running through my mind! As a redhead that part of the story really stuck with me so the song I have paired with this book is…

Well brunettes are fine man

And blondes are fun

But when it comes to getting the dirty job done

I’ll take a red headed woman

A red headed woman

It takes a red headed woman

To get a dirty job done.

About the Book

THE UNPUTDOWNABLE NEW THRILLER FROM THE BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF THE NEXT GIRL

She’s just the girl he’s looking for…

A young woman falls from a van speeding down a quiet road. Battered and bruised, she turns her head to the person who comes to her aid. ‘Help her’, she whispers before her eyes close.

Days later, the body of another young girl is found in a shallow grave just a few miles away. The similarities between the two girls are startling – same age, same frail body, same shocking red hair.

As the town fears there’s a serial killer living amongst them, Detective Gina Harte must put aside her own struggles at home, and catch the killer before he finds another perfect girl.

AN ABSOLUTELY HEART-STOPPING CRIME THRILLER FROM CARLA KOVACH – if you like Lisa Gardner, Robert Bryndza or Clare Mackintosh, Her Pretty Bones will have you hooked.

The Couple on Cedar Close by Anna-Lou Weatherley @annaloulondon @bookouture #bookreview

Happy Saturday book lovers!

Super excited to share with you my review for this brilliant book! I cannot believe this is my first blog tour of the year with Bookouture! A huge thank you to Noelle for my invitation to the tour and to Anna Lou Weatherley for this intense story!💜

My Thoughts

A compulsive and fast paced bloody brilliant book!

The perfect mash up of a police procedural and a psychological thriller! I had no idea that this was the second book in the DI Daniel Riley series until I got to the end, can absolutely be read as a standalone…. this book wasn’t necessarily full of crazy twists and turns, but I loved how it dove so deeply into the psychology of these characters…. A dark domestic drama with some pretty psychotic characters….

Laurie is planning the perfect dinner for her estranged husband, convinced she can still win him back…. but as time goes by and more vodka is consumed Laurie is pretty certain that her husband Robert has stood her up… devastated and in an alcohol Hayes Laurie passes out and wakes up in the guestroom covered in blood, with no recollection of how she got there…. Robert is dead and Laurie is the number one suspect, but she can’t remember and she can’t believe she would ever kill Robert….

Daniel Riley” The detective with the kind eyes,“ is convinced that there is more to this case then meets the eyes… after interviewing Laurie, Daniel can hardly believe she could hurt a fly much less a man twice her size…. oh what a wide web of deceit over this charming Close…. I enjoyed watching the unraveling of this psychotic killers perfect plans… I appreciated how thoughtful and compassionate Daniel was in his investigation…. I also loved how they called him “governor,” I’m not even sure why exactly, but it was super cool! I think because I could only think of it in the English accent, I don’t find governors of states very cool, LOL! But I digress….

This was an addictive read that had me furiously turning the pages… I figured out who the killer was fairly early on, but there was a pretty obvious clue that I am assuming we were supposed to pick up on? I am usually the world’s worst detective, so this is why I am assuming this… this did not detract from my enjoyment of the story whatsoever! I really wanted to know how they were going to catch this person and what was motivating this person to be so extremely Cray Cray! And bravo to that ending, that was just perfection! Definitely looking forward to the next book in the series, and time permitting I will go back and read “Black Heart.”

This book will quench both your police procedural and psychological thriller thirst, absolutely recommend!🖤

🎶 Song running through my mind: I defy you to read this book and not have this Drake song going through your head:

Kiki, do you love me? Are you riding?

Say you’ll never ever leave from beside me

‘Cause I want ya, and I need ya

And I’m down for you always

KB, do you love me? Are you riding?

Say you’ll never ever leave from beside me

‘Cause I want ya, and I need ya

And I’m down for you always

The Suspect by Fiona Barton @figbarton @BerkleyPub #bookbestiessuspect #bookreview

Happy Thursday from a cold and wet Southern California!☔️

Apologies if I did not make it to your blog yesterday, I have a cold/flu that is kicking my old booty! So fingers crossed I wake up this morning feeling better!

Excited to share with you today my review for this engaging mystery with a dash of thriller! Another wonderful group read with my Besties!💕

The Suspect by Fiona Barton

My Thoughts

This was an intriguing story that kept the mama bear in me on the edge of my seat!

This is a story guaranteed to make any parent squirm… Leslie and Jenny receive the call that no mother ever wants to receive, they need to head to Thailand to identify their daughters bodies…

Being a parent is a tough job, and being the parent of adult children is sometimes even harder… i’ve read so many reviews that state that they don’t know anyone who would allow their children to go to Thailand at the age of 18? And that’s fine if you don’t believe you would allow your children to go to Thailand, but it does not mean that a parent that would allow their children to go to Thailand is a bad parent…. I also think that a lot more UK kids in their late teens early 20s travel, the gap year is much more common… I personally don’t know anyone here in America who had a gap year? With the exception of Malia Obama, who I guess I don’t know personally…It is more than likely I would not want my kids to go to Thailand, but there comes a point in your child’s life that it is up to them… in this book Alex has graduated is about to head off to university and has saved her money for an entire year for this trip, in hindsight probably not the greatest idea, but… well I went off on a bit of a tangent there, sorry about that…. back to the book!

When two 18-year-old girls Alex and Rosie go missing while on holiday in Thailand it stirs up all kinds of emotions in Kate…. Kate’s son Jacob dropped out of university and went traveling to Thailand to “find himself“ with very sporadic communication with Home… Kate who is a reporter instantly gets herself on the case, and when the families travel to Thailand she is compelled to go too… but Kate has no idea what awaits her in Thailand, secrets and deceptions that will turn the reporter into the story!

This book really was more of a mystery/police procedural/family drama than a traditional thriller… but I was still completely engrossed in the story wanting to know what happened to these girls… I really liked Alex and I loved getting to know her through her Facebook posts and communication with her BFF back home… Rosie on the other hand was much less sympathetic, to say the least…. my heart broke for these parents and I really felt their pain and their need for justice and truth…. I can only imagine how hard it would be as more andMore truths were revealed about your daughters’ horrifying last days…

A perfectly paced story that was propelled forward by short concise chapters… i’d say this book was more plot driven then character driven, and generally I do like a story to be more character driven, but this one completely captivated me…. as I said my mama bear was on high alert… I just needed to know what had happened to these girls, and how these parents coped with living my worst nightmare….

A well constructed story with a large dose of mystery and a splash of thriller! Recommend!

🎵 OK I’m going to start doing something a little different with all my reviews. I love music and I always have a song going through my head as I’m reading… so I’m going to start sharing with you lyrics and a link to the song running through my head while reading. At least until I run out of songs or inspiration!

Bangkok, Oriental setting
And the city don’t know that the city is getting
The creme de la creme of the chess world
In a show with everything but Yul Brynner
Time flies doesn’t seem a minute
Since the Tirolean spa had the chess boys in it
All change don’t you know that when you
Play at this level there’s no ordinary venue
It’s Iceland or the Philippines or Hastings or
Or this place!
One night in Bangkok and the world’s your oyster
The bars are temples but the pearls ain’t free
You’ll find a god in every golden cloister
And if you’re lucky then the god’s a she
I can feel an angel sliding up to me

About The Book

The new must-read standalone crime thriller from the author of Sunday Timesbestseller, The Widow, and the Richard & Judy No. 1 bestseller, The Child – featuring unforgettable journalist, Kate Waters.

The police belonged to another world – the world they saw on the television or in the papers. Not theirs.

When two eighteen-year-old girls go missing on their gap year in Thailand, their families are thrust into the international spotlight: desperate, bereft and frantic with worry.

Journalist Kate Waters always does everything she can to be first to the story, first with the exclusive, first to discover the truth – and this time is no exception. But she can’t help but think of her own son, who she hasn’t seen in two years since he left home to go traveling. This time it’s personal.

And as the case of the missing girls unfolds, they will all find that even this far away, danger can lie closer to home than you might think . . .

The Liar’s Room by Simon Lelic @Simon_Lelic @BerkleyPub #bookbestiesliarsroom #bookreview

Happy Tuesday bibliophiles!

Today is publication day for this intense and deliciously disturbing thriller! This was a group read and we all were definitely thrilled by this thriller! I go as far as to say this is a can’t miss!🖤

The Liar’s Room by Simon Lelic

My Thoughts

This was a highly addictive intense read that made my heart race and my mind spin!

Wow! This was one thrilling verbal ping-pong match! An intense game full of thrills, chills, secrets, and lies! I felt as though I was on high alert this entire book, there is a definite sense of impending doom throughout this entire story… two liars, one room, and one fantastically disturbing tale!

Susanna is a counselor, and the book starts out with Adam a new patient entering her office for the first time… there is something familiar about Adam, but Suzanna cannot put her finger on it… as the therapy session progresses things start getting a little strange, and then a little disturbing, and then downright creepy…. when Adam shows Susanna a picture of her teenage daughter Emily, Susanna knows there is much more to this therapy session then… well therapy…. yikes, I get chills just thinking about it! Who is Adam? And what does he want with Susanna? And what has he done with her daughter? These were the questions spinning through my head throughout most of this book…. and try as hard as I might, I could not figure out the connection… oh I had theories and speculations, all of them wrong!

Boy oh boy this is one crazy ride that will keep you on pins and needle’s from first page to last…. I had no idea what I was in for when I pick this book up, but it definitely exceeded all my expectations! A story that will leave you a little unsettled, a little off balance, and a lot bewildered! Filled with unreliable, untrustworthy, and unlikable characters that will have you questioning everything….

This is the perfect thriller for the thriller lover it is dark, creepy, and disturbing… this book will screw with your mind and leave you reeling! absolutely recommend!

*** huge thank you to Berkley for my copy of this book ***

PS: before I wrote this review I was going to give this book four stars, but after this review I’m going to have to give it the full five, this is a story that really had it all!💫

Perfect Match by @zoe_writes @rararesources #bookreview

Happy Monday bibliophiles!

It was a rainy dark weekend here in Southern California the perfect weekend to curl up with this delightful romcom! Many thanks to Rachel for my invitation to the tour and to Zoe May for her engaging story!💕

Perfect Match

Can you ever find true love online?

Sophia Jones is an expert in all things online dating: the best sites, how to write a decent bio, which questions to ask and the right type of photos to use. The only thing she’s not so great at? Picking the guys…

After sitting through yet another dreadful date with a man who isn’t quite what she expected, Sophia is just about ready to give up on the whole dating scene. But her flatmate, Kate, persuades her to give it one more chance, only this time she must create a profile describing her ‘perfect’ man.

Yes, he must look like Robert Pattinson and needs to own a multi-million pound business, but there are a couple of other deal breakers, too! So, when a guy comes along who ticks every box, surely there’s got to be a catch?

A laugh-out-loud romantic comedy, perfect for fans of Catherine Bennetto and Rosie Blake!

My Thoughts

A fun and flirty story full of humor and heart!

A delightful romcom that made me laugh out loud! How would you describe your “perfect” man? And how would you react if there actually was a man that checked off all your boxes, out there? Zoe May brought this dream dilemma to the pages of this wonderful book!

Sophia has had a string of bad dates, 71 bad dates to be exact! She is the queen of online dating: Match.com, Tinder, eHarmony, Plenty of Fish etc. name the dating site and she’s been there, done that, as the T-shirt! After another disastrous date Sophia has decided it might be time to hang up her dating shoes…. but her BFF Kate talks her into filling out one more dating profile this time she needs to describe her “dream date”… and describe him she does, write down to his precise look: a cross between Robert Pattinson and Daniel Craig, his exact age: 29 and penis size: 8”… so you can only imagine what kind of response she got…. this part of the book was so funny, some of these one-liners were priceless! Disgusted and exhausted Sophia is about to shut down the account, that is until she sees a message from Daniel… Daniel checks every box, Sophia is sure there’s a catch, but after meeting him she finds out he is the real deal…. The face of Robert Pattinson, the body of Daniel Craig, enough money to burn, and even a rescue cat Esther…. Sophia is swept away in the magic of it all, but as we all know life and love are complicated and messy…

Sophia was an amazing character, I absolutely loved her! She was a good person and such a good friend! I loved her relationship with her BFF Kate and her older BFF Lynn…. all the secondary characters in this book were a lot of fun and very well-developed… I would have loved to have been a guest at Lynn’s surprise party! Even Sophia‘s job added some humor to the story…. noodles, Tinsel, A finger bowl, and a pregnant hamster were the icing on this book cake!

A wonderful whimsical witty story guaranteed to put a smile on your face! Absolutely recommend!
