The Worst Couple in the World by Holly Tierney-Bedord @hollytierney @rararesources #bookreview #theworstcoupleintheworld

Happy Monday all!

Another week of fall and I am still waiting for cooler temperatures! Thrilled to share with you today my review for this fun little book! Thanks Rachel for my invitation to this tour!🍃

The Worst Couple in the World

No longer content to just be Snappigram sensations, folk hop singers Zeke and Angelique are ready to move up from coffee house performances to the big stage. With songs like “Uh Huh, Future Baby Mama” and “Don’t Worry About the Bills, Little Missus” there’s pretty much no way they can fail.

But if their musical career takes off, will it leave their love behind?

This satirical novella about an over-the-top fame hungry duo is for fans of David Sedaris and Don DeLillo.

My Thoughts

This was a #shortbutsweetstory full of #humorandheart !!! A satirical look at social media that will make you laugh and think twice before you make that next post. Zeke and Angelique are friends turned lovers turned bandmates who are consumed with being Instafamous (although in this book I guess it would be called Snappyfamous?). They are beyond concerned with their status on “Snappygram” Life is all about likes, followers, hashtags, and The brand. Zeke and Angelique‘s antics will make you cringe, roll your eyes, and laugh. This novella is the perfect little pick me up. I was simultaneously charmed and annoyed by these characters. The secondary characters were fantastic, the band/brand manager who wanted them to always stay “true to the brand” and the extended family members who added some levity to the story. Next time you’re looking for an entertaining quick read, I strongly encourage you to pick this one up!

This book and three emojis: 😂 🎼 🙄

You’ve Been Volunteered by Laurie Gelman @LaurieMGelman @HenryHolt #bookreview #youvebeenvolunteered #classmom

Happy Friday y’all!

This was such a fun story all about navigating parent politics, parenting, and just life in general. Many thanks to Rachel for my invitation to this tour!🖍

My Thoughts

Laurie Gelman has spun a whimsical tail full of humor and fun. This is the follow-up to “Class Mom”. I did not read the first book and I don’t feel as though that impacted my enjoyment of the story, however he better bet I’m going to try to squeeze the first book in as soon as I can! Jen Dixon was such a marvelous character. So snarky, so sassy, someone you’d love to be friends with. Her outlook was so real and so refreshing! The emails she sent to the class parents were priceless, especially the one from Las Vegas! What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, that is unless you email the entire class about it!

Jen has not only been roped into being class mom this year, but she is also in charge of the safety patrol (a job nobody wants). Third grade son Max is becoming a little more opinionated, a little more mouthy. Her daughters are now in their 20s, that fun age when they think they are adults, until they aren’t. Her husband Ron is consumed with his business and starting a chain of yoga studios. Her parents are getting older and her mother has just won her fight with cancer. Jen certainly has a lot on her plate, but she handles it all with grace and a sense of humor (OK not all that much grace, but a lot of humor). I thoroughly enjoyed every minute I spend with Jen and her antics and I am keeping my fingers crossed that there is a follow-up to this follow-up!

*** A big thanks to Henry Holt for my copy of this book ***

About the Book

In the eagerly anticipated follow-up to Laurie Gelman’s “irreverent and hilarious” (The New York Post) hit Class Mom, brash, lovable Jen Dixon is back with a new class and her work cut out for her.
If you’ve ever been a room parent or school volunteer, Jen Dixon is your hero. She says what every class mom is really thinking, whether in her notoriously frank emails or standup-worthy interactions with the micromanaging PTA President and the gamut of difficult parents. Luckily, she has the charm and wit to get away with it – most of the time. Jen is sassier than ever but dealing with a whole new set of challenges in the world of parental politics and at home.
She’s been roped into room-parenting yet again for her son Max’s third grade class, but as her husband buries himself in work, her older daughters navigate adulthood, and Jen’s own aging parents start to need some parenting themselves, Jen gets pulled in more directions than any one mom, or superhero, can handle.
Refreshingly down-to-earth and brimming with warmth, Dixon’s next chapter will keep you wondering what’s really going on under the veneer of polite parent interactions and have you laughing along with her the whole way.

Flying by the Seat of My Knickers by Eliza Watson @rararesources #bookreview

Happy Saturday all!

Hope you’re having a lovely weekend! Delighted to share with you today my review for this book full of heart and humor! A huge thank you to Rachel for my invitation to the tour and to Eliza Watson for her brilliant story!🌷

Flying by the Seat of My Knickers

Why run from your troubles when you can fly instead?

When Caity Shaw is fired from her first job that doesn’t require an elf uniform, her older sister, Rachel, an event planner, hires her to work a meeting in Dublin. Caity jumps at the opportunity to travel abroad and escape her pathetic life. However, even four thousand miles from home, there’s no avoiding debt collectors, an overbearing mother, and haunting memories of a controlling ex.

While in Dublin, Caity suffers a series of humiliating mishaps, causing her to lose even more faith in herself. Caity struggles to earn Rachel’s respect—and to keep Declan, her hot Irish coworker, at arm’s length. Declan repeatedly saves Caity’s butt and helps boost her self-confidence, making it difficult to keep her distance from the charming womanizer. When Declan helps her research her Irish grandmother, Caity discovers the mysterious past of the courageous woman she barely knew might hold the answers to her future.

My Thoughts

This book was short and sweet and a bit silly. Eliza Watson has written a book that will sweep you away to Ireland for some fun and laughs. Katie is jobless and has just got out of a bad relationship. Desperate and in need of a change she begs her sister for a job especially when she hears she need someone to send to Dublin. So off Katie goes to Ireland to work as an event planner, a job she’s never done before. Unfortunately for Katie her overbearing mother and controlling sister’s scrutiny cannot be stopped no matter the distance. What follows is Katie and a comedy of errors guaranteed to make you laugh!

Katie is a tremendously sympathetic and likable character, you just could not help but route for the girl. At times admittedly I did get a bit frustrated with Katie but ultimately I loved her character growth in this book. Something else I really appreciated was even though there was a guy Declan, A total sweetie, Katie wasn’t saved by love. Now the book was left very open ended and perhaps there is romance in the next book. But in this story Katie found her way with friendship and her own strength. That really bothers me when a girl can only get out of a bad situation by falling in love with somebody. I like when she can do it on her own and with the help of friends of coarse! As I mentioned this book was left very open ended there is a second book and I cannot wait to see what Katie gets up to next!

A fun lighthearted read full of quirky characters and lots of humor!

Husbands and Other Sharp Objects by Marilyn Simon Rothstein @suzyapbooktours @NounsandVerbs1 #bookreview #husbandsandothersharpobjects

Happy Friday book people!

Super excited to share this review with you! This book was straight up hilarious! I love humor in my books and this book was packed full of it! A huge thank you too Suzy for my invitation to this delightful tour!🌹

My Thoughts

A hilarious story full of humor and heart!

This book was just straight up fun! A fun heart warming story guaranteed to make you laugh out loud! All families are dysfunctional, some families are more dysfunctional than others… I loved how this book just laid everything out there on the table…. it reminded me of those days when everything is going wrong so you just have to laugh!

Marcy was a fabulous character who I have a lot in common with… I am divorced, have three kids, and have two close friends that help me get through it all! What I don’t have is a John, although I don’t think I’m ready for that, but he was a really nice guy! So this is the second book featuring Marcy, in the first book her husband cheats on her and she kicks him to the curb, however it can absolutely be read as a standalone… in this book marcy, has moved on… her new boyfriend John wants to take their relationship to a more serious level, her soon to be ex cheating husband Harvey wants her back, and her daughter Amanda is getting married… I love the juxtaposition of the wedding and the divorce… I also love how this book accurately portrayed how insane people can act when planning a wedding…

This book was crammed full of little gems this was my absolute favorite is bread still considered white after it has been toasted? that line still makes me chuckle! Just a wonderful book all about life, love, family, good times, bad times, something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue… marcy is just a tremendously relatable character she could be you, she could be your mom, your sister, your BFF, she is someone you are glad you got to spend some time with!

A story that reminds you no matter how messy life gets never lose sight of your sense of humor! recommend!

*** many thanks to Lake Union for my copy of this book ***

About the Book

A heartwarming, hilarious novel for anyone who has ever had a family, from the author of Lift and Separate.

After a lifetime of marriage, Marcy Hammer is ready to get herself unhitched—just as everyone else in her life is looking for a commitment. Her new boyfriend, Jon, wants to get serious, and her soon-to-be ex-husband, Harvey, is desperate to get back together. When her headstrong daughter announces a secret engagement to Harvey’s attorney, Marcy finds herself planning her daughter’s wedding as she plans her own divorce.

Now with two huge events on the horizon, the indomitable Marcy soon realizes that there’s nothing like a wedding to bring out the worst in everybody. From petty skirmishes over an ever-growing guest list to awkward confrontations with her sticky-fingered new in-laws, pulling off the wedding is going to be a challenge; seeing her divorce through is going to be a trial. And trying to make everyone happy might prove to be impossible—because in the end, Marcy alone must make a choice between something old and something new.

I Owe You One by Sophie Kinsella @KinsellaSophie @randomhouse #bookreview #ioweyouone

Happy Sunday bibliophiles!

Super excited to share with you today my review of this book from one of my absolute favorite authors! I have read and loved every single one of Sophie Kinsella’s they are all so delightful romcom perfection!💕💕

I Owe You One by Sophie Kinsella

My Thoughts

A fun escapist read full of whimsy and charm!

This book was quintessential Sophie Kinsella! Full of fun flawed realistic characters, wity dialogue, and loads of humor… I can always count on a Kinsella book to take me away for a few fun hours, make me feel good and induce me into laughter until tears are coming down my face, and this book was no exception… sophie’s books never take themselves too seriously and are full of many laugh out loud moments… warning: don’t pick this up unless you have your sense of humor intact, don’t read while drinking, especially a carbonated drink, and don’t read around other people, unless you’re OK with them looking at you strangely because you’re laughing at what appears to be nothing….

Fixie was a kind caring sweet girl who really needed to find her backbone… I really liked her and I think she would make an amazing friend, but the girl sure did frustrate me! Fixie is a people pleaser she wants to make sure everyone around her is happy… her friends, her family, her coworkers, and of course the men in her life…. One day Fixie was at a local coffee shop when a man asks her to watch his laptop when he steps out to take a phone call… the ceiling starts to cave in, Fixie throws herself on top of the laptop and saves the day… The man who’s named Sebastian and of course is handsome issues her an IOU to repay her for saving his laptop and livelihood… Fixie is pretty sure she will never use it, that is until her lifetime crush Ryan enters the picture like a wounded puppy… what ensues is Fixie being walked all over by Ryan and her siblings, add in the stress of trying to keep the family business afloat while her mom is out of town… thank goodness Fixie has some good friends in her life who eventually help her see the light and get a back bone… as in all SK books there was some major much-needed character growth in the story, and that extended to most of the secondary characters as well….

The romance in the story was sweet but slightly confusing… Sebastian who I really liked was a little all over the place when it came to relationships, it was something that confounded me and I had trouble wrapping my head around… I felt there was real chemistry and respect between Fixie and Seb, so I cannot understand why a certain bimbo (whose name I cannot remember) was around for as long as she was, really kind of threw a wrench into it for me… having said that though I thought this book wrapped up perfectly and that final chapter was book perfection!

A perfect romcom with wonderful characters and plenty of humor! Absolutely recommend!

🎵🎵🎵 Song Running Through My Head

A-E-A-E-I-O-U-U I sometimes cry
A-E-A-E-I-O-U-U I sometimes cry
You tell me that you love me every day
When we’re alone I really feel in love
But when you’re out with friends I see a change
You treat me bad, I feel like second best
I want your love (I want your love)
Give me your love, girl (give me your love)
That’s how I feel, I want it to be real
I want your love (I want your love)
Give me your love, girl (give me your love)
I need your touch and I, I owe you so much
A-E-A-E-I-O-U-U I sometimes cry
(Oh) A-E (I really care) A-E-I (I really care) O-U-U
(I really care, care, care) I sometimes lie
Do you realize some things you say
I know you do, it makes me so confused
I’m sure this ain’t the way that love should be
Let’s get…

About the Book

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Sophie Kinsella, an irresistible story of love and empowerment about a young woman with a complicated family, a handsome man who might be “the one,” and an IOU that changes everything

Fixie Farr has always lived by her father’s motto: “Family first.” But since her dad passed away, leaving his charming housewares store in the hands of his wife and children, Fixie spends all her time picking up the slack from her siblings instead of striking out on her own. The way Fixie sees it, if she doesn’t take care of her father’s legacy, who will? It’s simply not in her nature to say no to people.

So when a handsome stranger in a coffee shop asks her to watch his laptop for a moment, Fixie not only agrees—she ends up saving it from certain disaster. Turns out the computer’s owner is an investment manager. To thank Fixie for her quick thinking, Sebastian scribbles an IOU on a coffee sleeve and attaches his business card. But Fixie laughs it off—she’d never actually claim an IOU from a stranger. Would she?

Then Fixie’s childhood crush, Ryan, comes back into her life and his lack of a profession pushes all of Fixie’s buttons. She wants nothing for herself—but she’d love Seb to give Ryan a job. And Seb agrees, until the tables are turned once more and a new series of IOUs between Seb and Fixie—from small favors to life-changing moments—ensues. Soon Fixie, Ms. Fixit for everyone else, is torn between her family and the life she really wants. Does she have the courage to take a stand? Will she finally grab the life, and love, she really wants?
Have a wonderful day filled with words and whimsy!

Amy Cole is Zen as F*ck by Elizabeth McGivern @MayhemBeyond #bookreview

Happy Sunday bibliophiles!

I can hardly believe it is almost 2019, where did 2018 go?

Excited today to share with you my review for this wonderful story that I strongly encourage you to give a go!🍍

Amy Cole is Zen as F*ck by Elizabeth McGivern

My Thoughts

Amy Cole is flippin fabulous!

Another wonderfully fun installment in this delightful series! Elizabeth McGivern has done it again! She has the remarkable ability to take some pretty serious subject matter and infuse A large dose of compassion and a whole lot of humor into it…. I can’t even tell you how many times I laughed out loud during this book, tears running down my face laughing! This is the second book in the series, and it could be read as a standalone, but I would strongly strongly encourage you to pick up the first book and then immediately followed up with this one! This series is a little gem that should not be missed!

So Amy Cole has found her mind and infused her life with Zen…. don’t panic though she is still the crazy quirky Amy we met in the first book, she just has conquered a few of her demons… she is also still BFFs with Elle and the girls are still up to their silly antics! Some of the funniest parts of this book involved Elle beginning to date again determined to find the love of her life online….. from her ridiculous dating profile to a man in a llama shirt two the SafeWord pineapple, I was cracking up the entire time! Not only did we have Elle’s dating nightmares, we also spent some time with Amy’s mother in law… talk about the mother-in-law from hell, this woman was way too much! And then we had the skinny class that took fat shaming to another level…. oh my goodness so many wonderfully hilarious moments in this book, don’t worry I won’t list them all!

The true charisma of this book lies in its characters! Amy has a wonderful Group of people around her… of course there is Elle her BFF the ultimate ride or die! Ben her husband who has the patience of a saint and a heart of gold, although he could step it up when it comes to his mom! Her kids are adorable and add charm and whimsy to the story as children always do…. Joseph her fairy godfather is in this book as well, still solid as a rock…. and even though Amy might not always get along with her mother and father, they do bring some comedy to the book….

This book is a sparkling example of a perfect escapist read, I cannot encourage you enough to pick this one up! Absolutely recommend! And I will be eagerly anticipating the next book in this series, cannot wait to see what Amy and her friends and family are up to next!🍍

*** Big thanks to Elizabeth McGivern for my copy of this book ***

About the Book

Ding Dong the bitch is dead

The inner bitch, that is

It’s been almost two years since Amy Cole walked through the door of her therapist’s office and now she’s ready to emerge as the sane, zen-like woman she has always wanted to be. Unfortunately for Amy, life has the nasty habit of not playing along.

There’s no time for a quiet life with a business to run, family life to balance and a newly-single best friend to keep an eye on.From getting embroiled in a feud with a maniacal diet guru, making sure Elle isn’t murdered by strangers from the internet and dealing with the mother-in-law from hell, mayhem always seems to find a way into Amy’s life.

Elle De Bruyn is on the cusp of finalising her divorce and is ready to jump, head-first, into dating once again. She soon learns that finding love in the 21st century is a tricky business. She lives in hope that somewhere in between the liars, cheats and unsolicited dick pics there’s still a chance for one more great love affair.

With life in a constant state of chaos, it doesn’t take long for Amy to realise that therapy was the easy part and now it’s time for the real work to begin.

Is sanity really all it’s cracked up to be?

NO ONE GOING TO THIS FUNERAL HAS EVER HEARD OF THE DECEASED. WHAT IS GOING ON??

Then they are told that they have 20 hours to work out why they have been invited in order to inherit a million pounds.

Who is this guy and why are they there? And what of the ghostly goings on in the ancient old building?

Author Bio –

My name is Bernice Bloom and I write funny novels about a crazy lady called Mary Brown in my ‘Adorable Fat Girl’ series.

Mary is funny, gorgeous and bonkers. She’s also about six stone overweight. When she realises she can’t cross her legs and has trouble bending over to tie her shoelaces without wheezing like an elderly chain-smoker it’s time to take action. But what action? She’s tried every diet under the sun.

This series is the hysterical story of what happens when Mary joins ‘Fat Club’ where she meets a cast of funny characters and one particular man who catches her eye.
The series follows Mary as she goes on safari, on a cruise, to a weekend yoga retreat and on an incredible adventure when she receives a mysterious invitation to a funeral.

The stories are laugh-out-loud funny and will resonate with anyone who has dieted, tried to keep up with any sort of exercise programme or spent 10 minutes in a changing room trying to extricate herself from a way too-small garment that she ambitiously tried on and is now completely stuck in. xx

My Thoughts

A little sass and fun mixed with a little mystery and history!

This book was simply adorable! This was my first introduction to Mary Brown and the ninth book in the series and I was not lost at all! Can definitely be read as a standalone… however I’d venture to guess after reading this book you’ll want to go and pick them all up, I know I do….“The Adorable Fat Girl “series has a new fan!

Mary Brown receives an invitation to a funeral the problem is? She has no idea who the deceased is, and why he would want her at his funeral… when she arrives at the funeral in an isolated village in Wales she meets the other six people who were invited to the funeral… only six people and none of them know the deceased, Reginald Charters… The six of them soon find out that they will inherit 1,000,000 pounds, however there is a catch!

The story is told in duel timelines because we also get the story of Reginald Charters starting in the 1940s…. I found this story extremely interesting and very well researched! The historical part of the story had a much more somber tone than that of the present day story, but I thought it was a really nice balance…. it was like the historical part was in black-and-white and the present day was in color…

Mary was such a fun self deprecating character with a wonderful sense of humor… The rest of the cast of characters were quirky, intriguing, and well developed… and bonus at the end of the book we find out there will be another book including all these wonderful characters! I’m really looking forward to many more books in the series and getting to know Mary better…

Absolutely encourage you to add this to your TBR list! It is quite adorable!

How To Be Alone by Lane Moore @hellolanemoore #bookreview

Happy Saturday book lovers!

Today I have a review for a bit of a different book for me,a memoir filled with wonderful insight and tremendous humor!💛

How To Be Alone by Lane Moore

My Thoughts

An authentic and raw memoir told with humor and honesty….

For anybody that has ever felt lonelier in a room full of people than they would if they were Buy themselves…. this is not a self-help book it is a memoir… Lane Moore has laid herself bare in these poignant essays about human connection… from a troubled child, to a tragic teenager, to a triumphant adult… Lane Moore has struggled throughout with making connections that some of us take for granted….

I thoroughly enjoyed Lane’s insights of not only herself but of others as well…. some of these essays were hard to read, but they were all totaled with integrity and a generous dose of humor…. really appreciated that humor was found in even the darkest of situations… some of these essays really resonated with me and I found myself sharing some of the insights with my friend on our weekly walk and my oldest son who is away at college….

This definitely is not my usual type of read, but I thoroughly enjoyed it! It was well written, relatable, and tremendously insightful…. I love humor in my books and this book had a huge dose of that! I absolutely recommend this book I think it will resonate with most people, because most of us have had times in our lives where it was harder to connect then others….

*** many thanks to Atria for my copy ***

About the Book

The former Sex & Relationships Editor for Cosmopolitan and host of the wildly popular comedy show Tinder Live with Lane Moore presents her poignant, funny, and deeply moving first book.

Lane Moore is a rare performer who is as impressive onstage—whether hosting her iconic show Tinder Live or being the enigmatic front woman of It Was Romance—as she is on the page, as both a former writer for The Onion and an award-winning sex and relationships editor for Cosmopolitan. But her story has had its obstacles, including being her own parent, living in her car as a teenager, and moving to New York City to pursue her dreams. Through it all, she looked to movies, TV, and music as the family and support systems she never had.

From spending the holidays alone to having better “stranger luck” than with those closest to her to feeling like the last hopeless romantic on earth, Lane reveals her powerful and entertaining journey in all its candor, anxiety, and ultimate acceptance—with humor always her bolstering force and greatest gift.

How to Be Alone is a must-read for anyone whose childhood still feels unresolved, who spends more time pretending to have friends online than feeling close to anyone in real life, who tries to have genuine, deep conversations in a roomful of people who would rather you not. Above all, it’s a book for anyone who desperately wants to feel less alone and a little more connected through reading her words.

Lucy can’t understand Joshua’s joyless, uptight, meticulous approach to his job. Joshua is clearly baffled by Lucy’s overly bright clothes, quirkiness, and Pollyanna attitude.
Now up for the same promotion, their battle of wills has come to a head and Lucy refuses to back down when their latest game could cost her her dream job…But the tension between Lucy and Joshua has also reached its boiling point, and Lucy is discovering that maybe she doesn’t hate Joshua. And maybe, he doesn’t hate her either. Or maybe this is just another game

My Thoughts

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Mustard Shirt Stars

This was such a fun read I really enjoyed it.

Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeton are work colleagues…well I say colleagues, but what I really mean is that they hate each other, not even a little bit, they actually HATE each other in caps!!

They work at a publishing house together, side by side, day in, day out, and the hate fuels both of them to get one up on each other all the time.

Joshua is quiet, moody, sly and wears a god awful mustard shirt on a Thursday, every Thursday, this drives Lucy crazy.

Lucy is nice to everyone, and everyone loves Lucy, but people walk all over her and she lets them, this drives Joshua mad.

Now they are both up for the same promotion and ready to Battle it out.

Because it is a senior position, they know that the loser will probably have to resign because they will not work under the victor.

The games they play against each other are hilarious, we have the Staring Game, the super fun HR Game, and the usual general Hating game.

You probably already know that this is going to turn into one of those Hate-to-Love type books, and you’d be right, but this one was done brilliantly.

I can’t tell you how many times I laughed out loud listening to this book, the characters, the one-liners and the inner thoughts of Lucy were fantastic.

🎧🎧 Narrated by Katie Schorr, who was just fabulous, this is one to add to your ever growing TBR.

Happy Reading

My T(r)oyboy is a Twat by Paula Houseman @PaulaHouseman @rararesources #BookReview

Happy Thursday all!

As I am sure you can tell by the title of this book it is a romance that has a sense of humor, and I’m excited to share my review with you today! Thank you so much to Rachel for my invitation and to Paula Houseman for her hilarious story😂🤣

Cupid Fcks Up and My Troyboy is a Twat

Cupid Fcks up ebook coverRuth Roth is a straight shooter. Pity Cupid’s not.

Smart-mouth Ruth is an inspirational humour columnist for a popular women’s magazine. Recently divorced, she has found the love of her life. Without any help, mind you, from the little fat love god. Ruth has decided she herself is her one and only.

And she’s in a comfy place. Why wouldn’t she be? No need to yell ‘Put the bloody toilet seat down!’ No need to hoover toe-nail clippings off the carpet.

But then a silver-tongued Prince Charming fronts up in his shiny Merc and tickles her discarded, little-girl fantasies. He tells her their love is written in the stars.

It must be a misprint.

A romance with this particular PC is not so PC! Still …

Ruth’s life plays out more like ancient myth than fairytale. And what hot-blooded woman can resist forbidden fruit?

There’s a problem, though. Ruth does not have a hot-blooded mum. Ruth has a pain-in-the-arse mum whose squawking disapproval cranks the taboo up a notch.

All the more reason to take up with the stud! But it means taking on the harpy.

Tensions mount, and even Ruth’s man can’t protect her from the trash-talking voices in her head. It looks like he can’t muzzle his own either. When an earth-shattering revelation causes him to give her grief, it makes her feel like she’s dating her mother.

Taking the kind of advice she doles out to her readers is not so easy, and Ruth wonders if this love can survive. More to the point, is it worth the trouble?

My Thoughts

This book was filled with humor, Snark, and a cast of wild characters!

This is the third book in the Ruth Roth series and it definitely did not disappoint! Ruth is such a lovable hot mess! I read another review where they compared her to Stephanie Plum and I thought that was the perfect comparison, I am a huge Stephanie Plum fan! And now I am also a huge Ruth Roth fan! The situations she can get herself into are simply priceless!

It is a year after Ruth’s marriage to her cousin… don’t panic! It isn’t her real cousin, I’m actually not quite sure of the relationship, but I don’t believe they are blood related😉 and of course everything is a hot mess! Roger cannot stop running his mouth, well, neither can Ruth… add in Ruth’s mother returning from the grave to haunt her and a new hot writer in the neighborhood, and you have yourself a few hours of hilarity!

Ruth is one of those characters you would love to have in your life, she is a good friend and she would be quite entertaining to have around…. she is also part of the most disfunctional family you would ever want to be a part of… so many laughs in this book, but some touching moments as well… another fun addition to this series that I hope is not over !

WARNING: do not read this book in public unless you like people looking at you strangely, for uncontrolled laughter! Also do not read while drinking a beverage, laughter might cause beverage to project from your body! And lastly do not read this book while operating heavy machinery, because why would you want to?!?!

*** many thanks to the author and Rachel for my copay ***

Cupid - My Troyboy is a Twat ebook cover

Love, romance, marriage, and a dark little secret. Shh … Small things let loose can grow out of hand.

Ruth Roth’s new husband can’t keep it in. If only he had all those years ago, things might be different now.

His big mouth sends every family member into hell. Except for Ruth’s late mother. She blows in from there. Seems the woman just won’t die. Or let up. Faaaark!

As if Mama’s earbashing isn’t enough, everyone else needs a scapegoat. Ruth is it. Somehow, this mess is her fault.

With everything falling apart, she feels overwhelmed. Until a hunky celebrity pants man—who clearly wants to get into hers—befriends her and makes her feel all warm and fuzzy. At the same time, an educated silicone seductress has designs on hubby.

Temptation abounds. But it’s overshadowed when a startling discovery throws Ruth and her man into uncharted waters, and life comes crashing down.

Ruth has survived plenty with the help of her friends. And as a writer, her wry wit, dirty muse, and a bent for ancient mythology have sustained her. This, though, might be her undoing.

photo copy – Version 3Author Bio – Paula Houseman was once a graphic designer. But when the temptation to include ‘the finger’ as part of a logo for a forward-moving women’s company proved too much, she knew it was time to give away design. Instead, she took up writing.

She found she was a natural with the double entendres (God knows she’d been in enough trouble as a child for dirty wordplay).

As a published writer of earthy chick lit and romantic comedy, Paula gets to bend, twist, stretch and juice up universal experiences to shape reality the way she wants it, even if it is only in books. But at the same time, she can make it more real, so that her readers feel part of the sisterhood. Or brotherhood (realness has nothing to do with gender).

Through her books, Paula also wants to help the reader escape into life and love’s comic relief. And who doesn’t need to sometimes?

Her style is a tad Monty Pythonesque because she adores satire. It helps defuse all those gaffes and thoughts that no one is too proud of.

Paula lives in Sydney, Australia with her husband. No other creatures. The kids have flown the nest and the dogs are long gone.
