Snowflakes Over Moondance Cottage by Rosie Green @rararesources #bookreview

Happy Monday booklovers!

Another holiday treat from a much loved author! The gems keep coming!

Snowflakes over Moondance Cottage

When Jess Thornton’s dad was lost at sea, the family coped in different ways, alone in their grief. Now, her mum seems to be going off the rails and her sister, Isla, who moved to France, is now back and determined to get their old family home on the market. But the last thing Jess wants this Christmas is for renovations to start on the house. It’s sure to stir up all sorts of memories she’s desperate to avoid. And to make things worse, Isla appears to have hired the most obnoxious builder in the world to do the work. Jess could ignore the fact that women seem to be putty in his hands. But what she finds harder to ignore is the frisson she gets every time she squeezes past him in the mess that is now their beloved old home! Can the family finally start talking and find a way to move on from the past this Christmas?

My Thoughts

Emotional and entertaining with a festive feel! Rosie Green has written a beautiful story that hit me right in the heart. I went in expecting a heartwarming Christmas romance and got so much more. It was heartwarming, there was a romance, and it does take place around Christmas, but this book was more focused on grief and the bonds of family. Sisters Jess and Isla Lost their father over three years ago and they are both contending with their grief but in very different ways. When Isla returns from France she feels it is time to renovate and sell the family home. Jess is determined to not let this happen especially at Christmas. But soon she finds herself not only dealing with a mother who has been acting strangely, but a rude contractor that makes her heart pitter patter a bit faster. What follows is a lovely story that will make you smile, cry, and want to hug your loved ones A little tighter.

I really loved getting to know these sisters better. Jess was easier to Like, but as I got to know Isla The better I liked her. This book really made me reflect on my own family and made me grateful my parents have already moved out of the family home. As depressing as the subject matter might sound, this book really had a lot of hope and heart in it. Another enchanting story from this fabulous author. A stunning story of family peppered with romance and holiday cheer!

Author Bio

Rosie has been scribbling stories ever since she was little.

Back then, they were rip-roaring adventure tales with a young heroine in perilous danger of falling off a cliff or being tied up by ‘the baddies’.

Thankfully, Rosie has moved on somewhat, and now much prefers to write romantic comedies that melt your heart and make you smile, with really not much perilous danger involved at all – unless you count the heroine losing her heart in love.

Rosie’s brand new series of novellas is centred around life in a village cafe. The latest, ‘Bonfires & Hot Chocolate at the Little Duck Pond Cafe’, is out now.

Watch out for ‘A Winter Wedding at the Little Duck Pond Cafe’, which will be published Christmas 2019.

Rosie is also writing a full-length, standalone book for Christmas 2019, entitled ‘Snowflakes over Moondance Cottage’.

If Only I Could Tell You by Hannah Beckerman @tlcbooktours @wmmorrowbooks #bookreview

Happy Thursday all!

This book! So emotional, so heart wrenching, so raw! Should come with a box of Kleenex!💔

My Thoughts

Hannah Beckermen has written a supremely emotional story, seriously this book should come with a box of Kleenex! This book did not break my heart it tore it out of my chest, chewed it up, spit it out, stomped on it a couple times and then slammed it against the wall! When I finish the book I dried my tears, took a deep breath, and just sat there quietly and thought. It is days later now and I’m still thinking about it. This book was a poignant look at one family’s journey to healing. Sisters Lily and Jess have been estranged for over 30 years, something happened all those decades ago and one sister is not able to forgive the other. Their mother Audrey is now ill and wants to find a way for her daughters to reconnect, she has two 17-year-old granddaughters who don’t even know each other. But after decades of secrets and hurt will these sisters even be able to be in the same room?

I’m going to be honest I have no idea if I liked this book or not? It moved me and had a profound effect on me, but it was brutal! This is really a book that begs to be discussed, so if you have read this, please message me, I still have so many questions. I still cannot understand why Audrey just didn’t force the issue and have her daughters talk things out? I cannot imagine I’d allow my kids not to speak to one another for 30 years? This was a family that had gone through so much tragedy they really would have benefited from the support of one another and probably some good therapy. Miss Beckermen’s evocative storytelling was simultaneously beautiful and agonizing. Life is hard and this book does not pull any punches. I don’t usually add trigger warnings but this book deals with a lot of serious issues including illness, miscarriage, and suicide.

This book in emojis: 💔 👩‍👧‍👧 🤔 😭

“I loved it (even though it made me cry).”—Jojo Moyes

For fans of This Is Us comes a story of a family divided and the secret that can possibly unite them – a life-affirming novel with a twist will break your heart and an ending that will put it together again.

 A secret between two sisters.

A lifetime of lies unraveling.

Can one broken family find their way back to each other?

Audrey’s dream as a mother had been for her daughters, Jess and Lily, to be as close as only sisters can be. But now, as adults, they no longer speak to each other, and Audrey’s two teenage granddaughters have never met. Audrey just can’t help feeling like she’s been dealt more than her fair share as she’s watched her family come undone over the years, and she has no idea how to fix her family as she wonders if they will ever be whole again.

If only Audrey had known three decades ago that a secret could have the power to split her family in two, and yet, also keep them linked. And when hostilities threaten to spiral out of control, a devastating choice that was made so many years ago is about to be revealed, testing this family once and for all.

Once the truth is revealed, will it be enough to put her family back together again or break them apart forever?

“Utterly compelling and completely heartbreaking. I couldn’t put it down.” — Ruth Hogan

“Totally engrossing, achingly sad and so perceptive about the corrosive legacy of family secrets.”—Kate Eberlen, author of Miss You

When You’re Gone by Brooke Harris @Jenelle_Brooke @bookouture #bookreview #whenyouregone

Happy Friday book lovers!

Are you ready for the weekend? I sure am! I’m also excited to share with you my review for this heartbreaking emotional beautiful story that requires tissue on hand! Thank you so much to Kim for my invitation to the tour and to Brooke Harris for her lovely words!!💕

My Thoughts

When it rains look for the rainbow, when it’s dark look for the stars.

A beautifully told story filled with heartbreak and hope. Brooke Harris sure knows how to paint a story with emotion and heart that will tug at your heartstrings. This book touches on some pretty depressing subject matter but it is handled with warmth and compassion. If you have ever suffered a miscarriage or had issues with pregnancy/fertility there could be some possible triggers. But as someone who has had two miscarriages herself I really feel as though this was handled with care.

At its core this is a book about love, especially the love between grandmother and granddaughter. Holly is called home when her beloved grandmother Annie is dying. The bond between them is amazing and the last days they spend together are priceless. Annie still has a story to tell and Holly is the one that needs to hear it. The story bounces back and forth in time Annie’s story in 1959 and Holly’s story in present day. Earth grandmother and granddaughter’s stories are heart wrenching and emotional bursting with love and family and grief. Annie’s story is about a magical love of a lifetime a tale that will not only pull at your heartstrings but squeeze them until they hurt. Holly story is equally as emotional this is a book that requires at least one box of Kleenex!

This is one of those books that will put your heart through the ringer and leave you with a book hangover the next day. A story that will evoke every possible emotion you have and some you didn’t even know you did. The characters are likable and relatable the type of characters that will stick with you long after the book has ended. Next time you are in the mood for a book with all the feels, beautiful storytelling, and a cast of amazing characters, this is your book! Absolutely recommend!

*** A big thank you to Bookouture for my copy of this book ***

About the Book

Holly was overjoyed to discover she was pregnant. But the baby is unwell, and her relationship is fracturing under the stress. Just when she is at her lowest, she receives the worst news of all: her beloved nana, Annie, is dying.

But Annie has one final wish before she leaves. She asks Holly to find a memory box in the attic, and to read the handwritten pages within it to her, the most precious things she owns.

It’s the story of Arthur ‘Sketch’ Talbot, Annie’s first – and last – love, and how much he sacrificed to save her from a home where she didn’t feel safe. It’s Annie’s promise to Holly that it doesn’t matter how long you love someone – but how much.

As Holly reads her nana’s story to her one last time, could it help her find the strength to face her own future? Is fulfilling her grandmother’s final wish really a gift for Holly?

Compelling, heart-breaking, and emotionally vivid, When You’re Gone will break your heart and fix it anew. A gripping and emotional novel about family, love and sacrifice, for fans of Diane Chamberlain, Susan Lewis and Kathryn Hughes’ The Letter.

Previously published as When It Rains. This edition contains significant editorial revisions.

The Day We Met by Roxie Cooper @toodletinkbaby @EburyPublishing @annecater #bookreview #valentineread #RandomThingsTours #thedaywemet

Happy Monday! Hope you had a wonderful relaxing weekend!

Excited to share with you today a story perfectly perfect for Valentine’s Day!🌹🌹🌹 A huge thank you to Anne Cater for my invitation to the tour and to Roxie Cooper for her lovely story!💕💕

The Day We Met by Roxie Cooper

My Thoughts

A romantic story full of emotion and fated love💕

Roxie Cooper has painted a beautiful Story with her words… she turned me the cynic into a true believer in soulmates, well for at least the length of this book… sometimes I wonder why I Love reading romance, I certainly don’t believe in epic love or one true love or soulmates or any of that… but then again I occasionally enjoy a vampire or werewolf book and I certainly don’t believe in them either… this is a book that on paper I really should not have enjoyed, it is about two people who are involved with other people who cannot help but be drawn to one another… my cynical and jaded brain says, BS people can help who they are drawn to, and people aren’t drawn to others unless they’re out looking for it, so I don’t buy this premise for one single minute! And I probably still believe all this, however this book was aBSOLUTELY FABULOUS!

Stephanie and Jamie meet one weekend at an art retreat… Stephanie and Jamie have instant chemistry, the problem? Stephanie is engaged to Matt and Jamie is married to Helen… Stephanie and Jamie recognize there is a strong connection between them unlike no other, but they respect their significant others…. for the next decade they meet up about once a year as friends, but can two people with this strong of a connection stay just friends? Now my logical brain at this point was saying, I certainly wouldn’t want someone to stay with me when they were this fated to be with somebody else? And I think that was my biggest struggle with this Matt and Helen deserve better than what they were getting… but life is messy and nothing is ever black-and-white, this book really had my emotions flying all over the place….

The story is told from the perspective of both Jamie and Stephanie… and not just when they are together we also got a front row seat look at their family life with their significant others who were good people…. Stephanie and Jamie were also extremely likable, seriously I really liked these two characters and I really wanted them to end up together, even though I thought it was wrong… or maybe I didn’t? See what I’m saying very messy and a whole lot of gray! Matt and Helen were very likable as well I wanted nothing but the best for them, I was so torn throughout this entire book… this book was truly playing with my emotions and then… and then… that ending! What? All I’m going to say is have tissue handy!

An exquisite love story that will pull at your heartstrings and leave you reeling and in tears! Recommend!

🎵🎵🎵 Song Running Through My Head

The day we met,
Frozen I held my breath
Right from the start
I knew that I’d found a home for my heart
Beats fast
Colors and promises
How to be brave?
How can I love when I’m afraid to fall
But watching you stand alone?
All of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow
One step closer
I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling don’t be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I’ll love you for a thousand more
Time stands still
Beauty in all she is
I will be brave
I will not let anything take away
What’s standing in front of me
Every breath
Every hour has come to this
One step closer
I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling don’t be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I’ll love you for a thousand more
And all along I believed I would find you…
